The bolts aren't really needed on JLs. Many, many jeep owners just keep them off permanently. Then the only step extra than you mentioned is just unplugging the wire harness.
I have a 07' 4 door Wrangler, I constantly mud and off road, I have a soft top so i can bare bones it, mines lifted and my Gen of jeeps doors come off much easier then this, also this guy makes me cringe, these are the jeep owners that I hate, if you buy a jeep, get one and you better off road the fuck out of it.
I QC wiring harnesses for Roush. Thats literally one of the things we do. If they become unpinned from pulling it like that, they were shit from the getgo.
With my YJ I just opened the door and pulled up lol. Also with my YJ I would just toss the doors on the side of the house. All I had was soft half doors anyway
Wow, a jeep with power windows. Hinge pin extenders are a big help. Also installing door hangers in my garage really help when putting them back on; now that I'm old, lifting them from the floor is not so easy.
Pro tip, when your car becomes high mileage, yes it’s interior but still. Those bulk head connectors and the sliding mechanisms get seized and crusty, when you move the bar to unlock the connector you need to make sure the connector is actually sliding open or you’ll break the connector, I’ve done it twice over time with pcm connectors, luckily the 2.4 replacements came with harnesses and I had kept the pcm connectors so I could swap over the sliding bar and connector housing that broke, you will not have that same opportunity at home!!
I have a 2023 JL Rubicon Wrangler. Looking to upgrade my lights to an LED type. What’s a good brand to buy? Extreme Terrain has many different options. Please and thank you.
Now it's cool the new Jeeps still have removable doors.... But my 1986 CJ7 is a hell of a lot easier lol. Open door. Lift up while givin a little giggle. Doors are off. Repeat in reverse to Reinstall. Also, I can SAFELY hose out my entire interior and sun dry after. As much as I like ALL Jeeps, the old stuff is better. Unfortunately I live in CA and can no longer smog it and been saving up to modify some stuff to get it to pass.
So actually not that few "easy" steps to actually do it? What other additional equipment is required before you are really ready to go? (besides a place to stash those doors and roof panels)
I love the fact that I learned how to take the doors off right now but the one tidbit I want to add is use a good oil in the threads and put some grease on the pins because it’s not hard to cross thread those bolts to constantly apply a good penetrating oil to the threads in Greece on the pins to keep from corrosion
Honestly new bronco doors are easier to remove Frameless windows two bolts and the harness pulls out without breaking harness clips and no extra panel to pull off on the footwell too
When the tj only had the screws for the hinges and a little loop to take off before you could just pull the entire door off. Now you need to pull out electrical connections and door stops just to be left with the hinges and a loop.
I never knew there was a "secret way" to pull the doors off a jeep. I always though there was the right way and the "I don't ever want doors again way"
Jeep should make the connector for the door wire harnesses a simple twist lock \ unlock. That connector they're using doesn't look like it's meant to be "worked" multiple times. A twist lock style connector should be good enough to prevent accidentally disconnecting.
The jeep isnt interesting to me but what is, is that connector that they chose, it must survive thousands of disconnects and reconnects while maintaining integrity of the connection, i wonder what brand of connector it is and how many cycles it was tested on
Just a tip. Don't store bolts in slots in back. All the time they end up coming out and I have lost a few. I just stopped putting the bolts back in the doors all together. No need for them
Apparently the algorithm wants me to know how to remove a Jeep door. Cool I guess. Thats a pretty looking jeep tho, hope it doesn't stay this clean for too long though 😂
Bro did not just call a dewalt a makita
Ikkkk
He totally did....loser
Calls a station wagon a jeep
Ok, good. It wasn't just me.
Hahaha you high bruh
Only a true Jeep owner would call a DeWalt and Makita 😂
and think that the handle that's there in damn near any car is specifically for the doors to come off
They also call their fiat a Jeep
It’s a Jeep thing. You wouldn’t understand. 🤪
I like my old school jeep. I just remove the limiting strap and lift up on the doors 😂.
back when jeeps were jeeps
@@superbruh8936 Yup, when you had to unbuckle yourself while driving on the highway to reach the rear passenger seat door to close the window.

@backwoodstherapy I keep them out all the time. I just put them in for this video.

If Kermit the frog was a human
Isnt that more jordan petersons thing though?
Dewalt my friend. I guess the Jeep’s color is kinda close to a Makita.
There are yellow Makita’s but this ain’t that. It’s not a Dewalt either. It’s a Temu knockoff.
Jeep owners would never figure this out, thanks for the guide.
I'm so glad you're doing youtube videos again
Lmao having a 95 yj makes this look like a whole lotta extra work😭
Nah tbh he just got a brand new Jeep my parents have. 2017 it’s 2024 now 💀💀good luck taking those doors off seized like a mf
Jeep tip for every one in the comments every other year change ur sleeves in the hinges so they don’t rust out 😂💀😂
Same with my 99 TJ
Just got my Jeep and this video helped ! Keep up the great work
#9 re-pin your connector because you pulled it apart by the wires!!!!
Was literally looking for this comment thank you
I QC wiring harnesses for Roush. Thats literally one of the things we do. If they become unpinned from pulling it like that, they were shit from the getgo.
False, especially for that kind of connector
@@thomasjohnson360is there not a lock between the metal pins and the cables like in most VAG cars?
@@chrisparussin5359 yes there is. If there weren’t, the wires would push right out of the backside of the connector when you plug it in.
Thanks 👍
Take the instructions throw them away got me dying 😂😂
Thanks that's just did mines
Curious. Are you sure that's a Jeep ? Looks like a Dewalt to me.
You gonna film it when you strip the head of the fastener with your “makita”?
Cross-threading is just poor man’s loctite 🤠
@@aaronjones356 need a functioning faster head to have a chance at cross threading.
Great instructions!
Very useful video. Tahnks a lot. I will use it on Honda Activa
Wow, i never thought about the modern amenities of jeep doors. I had two sets of doors for my YJ; half and full frame 😂
Great video!
Just throw all the bolts away. I never put them back. Makes it easier to take off every time.
Now that doesn’t seem very safe
I don’t even have a jeep, but that was great. Thank you.
Got it, thanks
Now to need to but a Jeep Wrangler
With my YJ I just opened the door and pulled up lol. Also with my YJ I would just toss the doors on the side of the house. All I had was soft half doors anyway
If i was on the engineering team, would have added threads to the bolt storage. If the screw in, you'll never lose them.
Wow, a jeep with power windows. Hinge pin extenders are a big help. Also installing door hangers in my garage really help when putting them back on; now that I'm old, lifting them from the floor is not so easy.
Jeeps are so cool just because of this and this alone 😂
He skipped step 9 "Tuck the wire harness into the mesh pocket of the door" to reduce the possibility of damage to the wires!
And now your paint will be chipped on the bolts and hinges and will be rusting in a year! 🤗
Oh no! My Jeep will show signs it's used!
Thank you kermit for helping me remove doors on my jeep 😂
This why i like my 94. You must open it and lift and its off.
My dude got that yellow makita👌
The outer door henges on my jeep stay off permanently for easier removal. 3 years later and no issues.
I don't have Jeep :( but still I'm watching this! 😂
It’s not removing that doors that’s hard, it’s putting them back on.

Step 2 : Buy any other brand raised pasanger vehicle.
Step 1. NEVER OWN A JEEP

That’s true. I owned my brand new Jeep for just short of 1 year before I had to offload it. It was a terrible car.

so nice that they made it so easy for a romanian to take it
5. "pull down on the connector" Proceeds to pull on wires. that won't cause a problem with repeated use
So what do you do about the mirrors to maintain FMVSS compliance?
If you want to avoid possible electrical issues or damaging the connector, don't pull by the wires.
Where to keep the last bolt?
Remove the doors and then get pulled over and cited for no mirrors
They make doorless mirrors
So actually not that few "easy" steps to actually do it?
What other additional equipment is required before you are really ready to go? (besides a place to stash those doors and roof panels)
and for good reason, that's dangerous as fuck. get some mirrors that you can stick on the car if you're gonna do this
No morris is legal if u have a cam
@@tvtothepointYou can sell your jeep and buy a Bronco for example. Which also gives you the chance to store the doors within the car itself

Jeep Hack, use Silicone based clear grease on the hinge pins for the door. Those rubber inserts get hunge up after a while

How you plan on using mirrors
I dont have a Makita only Dewalt, will it work?
why do you need to replace or take off the doors ? for what purpose?

I was thinking the same thing lol.
Just put the bolts in a ziploc bag and put them in the glovebox.
The possible effort to hide a DeWalt logo and then call it a Makita just goes to say, Makita for the win.
Door bolt first then safety strap otherwise the door can swing and smash the mirror.
