I wish I'd known the team was in my backyard. I would have stalked you for an official thank you hand shake on teaching me to be a better angler and insisted on showing off some Detroit hospitality, world renound cuisine, and a few things besides our great fishery that rides below radar. Growing up in the city where you guys launched the boat created butterflies inside as I watch more shows giving exposure to the River. The locals have enjoyed and welcomed an array of famous personalities and I'm particularly excited the IPro staff made the trip.
James. The water clarity difference comes more from Lake St. Clair than river wind direction. West winds beat the east shoreline of the lake leading to the stained water. Ag and topography of the area are also a factor. Thanks for making it over this spring and spending some time and money in my home state. We’re heading over Thursday for our annual long weekend of walleye fishing in Trenton. Can’t wait. The river is on 🔥 from bank to bank, top to bottom. Looking forward to more Midwest content from you guys 😃😃. Thanks for sharing. Get out there tubers!!! Net please 🎣😃🎣😃🎣
You sir are fishing right around my shore spots. It's a great fishery, but any east wind and it's dirty on the side your fishing fast. You'd be amazed though, in 24 hours a south west or west wind will clean things up fast. You were about a week shy of some serious hogs being caught, consistent fish close to 10 lb range were reported the week before. I'm surprised this is the first time I've seen an episode filmed here. Some days this fishery can blow your mind for numbers and size.
I think it’s so cool to see tall buildings from where you’re fishing! Not that there’s anything wrong with the Forrest. Just a change of scenery and not something I see every day
Great stretch of river to fish!! Glad to see you guys finally made to the big D to fish. My buddies and I have spent a week down there every year in mid April since 2005 it is definitely an amazing fishery.
Itching to get out there here in the D... have a kayak with trolling motor and a drysuit, but man has there not been a weekend without tons of wind, and now a snowstorm today...
Guess I have to go down south,I live in N.Michigan and the lakes are still frozen over and it doesn't look like they will be open by the walleye opener LOL !
Have you explored using jigging spoons while vertically jigging open water? I’ve never tried it but don’t see why it wouldn’t be effective being that they work so well during ice season.
We've used them quite a bit in the fall for walleyes and smallmouth. We've had a lot of success at that time of the year. You make a good point...Why do we stop using them in the spring for walleye when they work so well for the same species just a few weeks earlier through the ice? The only explanation I can offer is that we're creatures of habit and we've just never used them in the spring.
Can you catch them late afternoon towards evening We live 4 hours away so to get there at 6 is a tough day to drive home Thanks for the help your info is great
Did you guys fish the American or Canadian side?? Looks like the Canadian side to me. Welcome to my fishing hole!! It’s definitely a world class fishery and I’m very fortunate to live here
Would you mind telling me which model Ranger net that is? Looks to work well. I have the 20 x 20 short handle, but need to order an extendable model. Have a nice musky net for Esox , but looking for a suitable net for larger walleye, without getting too big. It's tough to judge size from a list. Thanks. Great content on your shows!

Although we didn't connect in person we want to thank you for the warm and personable welcome! We'll be back next year to take another swing at the D!

We really enjoyed it and there's soooo much to learn. We'll be back next spring if the conditions line up!

Saginaw bay has been giving up some good fish. Not big numbers of fish, but good fish.
How does this channel not have more subscribers? Good content, guys!

We fished the Canadian side. Guys were fishing the US side and catching more fish but the average size was running smaller.
@@InDepthOutdoorsTV that’s usually the case in the area. I fished this morning and only landed 2
Does one have to notify the Mounties or whatever if you're fishing their side?
@@austinitor no but here are the rules. Must have Canadian fishing license and you are not allowed to bring minnows from the American side
@@austinitor not any more👍
I fish that spot for walleye AND white bass.
As of 4/18 the river is on fire!! Easy limits us and canadian side. Bigger fish on can side

Thanks. Great content on your shows!
I'm curious if you guys fish in Canadian waters alot ? I'm just asking , it's great to see.
yes
You all fished the Canadian side I see.
Me and my pa are going this Friday -Tuesday do you think the fishing will still be good.
Based on the photos of limits of walleye caught on the Detroit over the last few days I'd say the bite is still going strong. Good luck on your trip.
Yes. You’ll do fine. Invest in a Canadian license and stay vertical!!!!!🎣🎣🎣
River is spectacular into June, easily.
What rod length and action do you use in this situation?
7 ft 1 in medium heavy due to the use of 3/4 oz jigs.
Did you switch shoes I notice while you pulling that Wally out
James switched from boots to tennis shoes. Once the sun came out it was too hot to keep the boots
Where e do u get the water clarity pics
Steel city Gold
they dragging, not jigging
Id love to go to Detroit and catch some Ghetto Walleyes!
