I was too young to see Dylan at the Gaslight, the Talking Heads @ CBGBs, never saw Jerry at the Warfield or Op Ivy at Gilman street. BUT I did see BR-549 @ Robert's Western World and I count myself blessed.
What happened to the other singer,Gary Bennett ? I just recently discovered this group. I like every song Chris sings but why'd Gary leave because his voice was NOT replaceable, i don't think, is he even alive ? "Honky Tonkin' lifestyle" is definitely my favorite new tune though👍i go around singing it non- stop 😁
That dadgum Scruggs I forget sometimes how good he is he plays daylights outta everything I reckon...this group give anyone a run for their money this is real country music. I reckon Chris is still with Marty Stuart , now they play country too.
For more of Chris Scruggs, you need to follow Marty Stuart's tour schedule. In 2015, Chris Scruggs joined Marty Stuart's band called "The Fabulous Superlatives" as the bass player.
I can see myself drinking beer with these guys playing in the background on some forgotten stage! I'd be flirting with the female bartender....every been there?
Excellent groupe que j'ais vue a Barcelone en 2004 et but des coup avec eux aprés le concert Excellent band that I saw in Barcelona in 2004 and aim shots with them after the show
This is the only country music that exist. The style of Faron Young Hank Williams Ernest Tubb Johnny Cash. this is the only real style country that exists. everything else is just a poor excuse of it
Gotta agree! When Gary Bennett left i was gutted because I felt he was the sound of br549, but then I saw this line up live when Chris had just joined them.. blew me away! Love all their stuff now right from the Gary Bennett vocal through chuck mead and onto Chris struggling! Oh and Donnie heron is one of the best most under rated multi instrumentalist that ever lived!
Chuck is one of the most personable celebrities you will meet. I have spoken to him a few times at shows. LFK is his adopted home. Born in Nevada MO I think.
BR549 were one of the featured musicians performing for Garrison Keillor on his very special broadcast of his 30th anniversary show of the famous "Prairie Home Companion" public radio show !
That looks like Chris Scruggs on the Mustang, I don't see Smilin Jay (not sure where he is these days) Shaw Wilson on drums and Don Herron on the fiddle, That sounds like a stage recording from Prairie Home Companion, If you like that, check out Chris Scruggs' concerts and Chuck Meade and the Grassy Knoll Boys
Chris Scruggs is an outstanding musician.
Musician and country music historian. Clearly an old soul
No wonder! These are the genes of his grandfather Earl and his uncle Randy!
the Fender Jaguar sounds fantastic!
BR549 is so damned talented, such good song writers and musicians and performers.
The complete package.
This is Chuck Mead (vocals) Shaw Wilson (drums) Chris Scruggs (Guitar) Jeff Firebaugh (Bass) Donnie Herron (Steel, fiddle etc)
Chris Scruggs rocks that 50's look
Is he playing a Jazzmaster?
@@kenbrownfield6584 A Fender Jaguar! Close, but no cigar! Ha.

I love this band's unique sound. The talent is amazing. Only if you have watched Hee Haw in the 1970's will you know where they chose their name.

Real country music.
The rockabilly hairdos on Scruggs and Firebaugh are epic. Glad Pandora introduced me to these guys.
I remember the beginnings of this band when I worked at Robert’s Western World. Great band, great sound.
Any song that has "honky tonk" in the name you already know it's a dopamine shot
Just discovered these guys (thanks, Pandora Radio). Excellent.
That dadgum Scruggs I forget sometimes how good he is he plays daylights outta everything I reckon...this group give anyone a run for their money this is real country music. I reckon Chris is still with Marty Stuart , now they play country too.

Marty Stewart included😊
It used to be called Western music and Western Swing.
Then they changed it to Country And Western and started ruining it.
@@user-ig6bk6ym3mI swear country western preceded country.

They do a great version of Aint No Train to Memphis!
TRES TRES BON
I was kinda hoping "That's what I get" would be a cover of the Buzzcocks song
The best rockabilly in this time.
u just don't see base fiddle players much anymore.....my dad played base fiddle in 2 different bands
How did they come to name themselves BR549?
Keeps the blood Ready to Shake bake off To the Dance Floor We take .

Is the playback speed on this correct? Seems to be somewhat higher pitch and tempo (Chuck doesn't sing this high).
