Chris is one of the best musicians in music
Nice guy, too!
WoW.... what hot pickin'from Chris, Kenny, and Marty.
It's so awesome to see them playing at the original Ernest Tubb Record Shop
🎻🎶🎸
R. I. P.
ERNEST 🇨🇱 TUBB
Scruggs plays like it’s 1940, amazing
It's in his DNA...lololol!
He's studied the steel masters from then on up. I think Kayton Roberts from Hank Snow's band is his mentor on steel.
The longhair, bearded phase. My first view. So this was Kenny's record release. Ho Lordt, more goodness than I knew of.
If Marty is backing you up, then you are a certified and bonafide badass.
true 'dat...
yup no doubt
Yes, I would say he has arrived...
Says a lot about Marty, too!
@@jimtroyful FACTS!
I am so impressed with Marty Stewart that he will play behind one of his band members like this. I think it shows what a great and confident person he is.
He’s got a job to do, and he does it. With pride and joy. Ain’t got nuthin to prove to nobody ;)
Right?! The Real Deal♥
Me too. The guy's truly a giant.
Seriously, it's like watching The Traveling Wilburys.
All right ! i do aree with you about Marty StUARt ! The gaurd if this country style !
This band is one of the few left that really understand how to play classic country. There's not a lot of bands like the Fabulous Superlatives because you have to be an exceptionally good musician, which is what they all are.
Yes
Yes. They've obviously done their homework.
No kidding! You nailed it.
Marty is having the time of his life sitting back with the band what a class act.
He's looking around, thinking he's got the best job in the entire world. He's not wrong, either.
The internet feeds us with all kinds of literally unbelievable information so I can't get past the fact that Kenny is 72 years old. For the love of God.
Even Kenny said, Whoa!! The pedal steel player is goin' off!!!!
Yea!
You can take any one member from this group and they have more talent than what's floating out there as country music.
I agree 100 percent
agree with you thus far. i shall vote for you in any election you participate in. Ya just got turn the right rock over and surprise shall emerge.
I'll add in pop genre too.
All 4 guys up front are shit hot guitar players. Paul played lead guitar with Exile and Chris may be the best of the 4. Love seeing Kenny being showcased. It makes Marty happy too. All talented guys.
@Matt_Dylan I'm now seeing your reply. Yes all the ones you mentioned are absolutely fantastic.
They sound just like Commander Cody and his lost Planet Airmen in their prime.
That's true
That's high praise. The LPA were song my favorites growing up. That's IF I ever grew up! I'd love to see Marty and the band and Bill Kirchen play together.
Kenny is great ... no pedalboard ... just guitar --> cable --> amp and the volume knob on the guitar! GREAT! 👌🎸👌
Kenny is a smokin picker no doubt, but Marty's tone on this one is "spot on Tele tone" hands down!
Love them both!
There's nothing wrong with pedals. It's all just sounds. Different people like Different sounds. : )
Ole Chris Scruggs can do it on that old Fender steel, Kayton Roberts taught the boy well!
Isn't he just the best?!
How can Marty NOT have a Blast with People like minded... Chris Scruggs is a 6 Instrument Virtuoso and Countery Historian and Kenny has the BEST INTERVIEWS EVER with Otis Gibbs and Ask Zac!!!
Music Pioneers and Preservationists!!!
These 4 guys upfront are ALL great guitar players and singers. Kenny has said Chris is the best guitar player in the Superlatives, and Paul Martin played guitar and sang lead with Exile in the 90s. You can't dislike Marty and his band. He always has the cream of the crop. Kenny plays El Paso on acoustic just exactly like he record. That's tough to do. Grady Martin was a master.
I can't get enough of this song. It's on my weekly rotation. And the guys are, as always, just superlative!
How do you set up a playlist for a weekly rotation ??
All incredibly talented musicians who still realize that playing music is supposed to be fun. Very rare qualities today.
All of these guys are great musicians. Most of all, I am impressed by the drummer. It's not about what he can do, but about what he chooses to (not) do, just to back up the band and still keep it interesting.
Country was always on the back burner for me until I came across Marty and now Kenny ... and well, this is front burner stuff all the way man. I'm loving it! The Fabulous Superlatives is not an exaggeration!
Bass player looks so clean cut and conservative until he shows us his badass side. Such a COOL amd hip band for a bunch of icons that have been in the business for decades! Wish I was that cool at that age!
Marty certainly has a right to smile. With astronomical players like that he is taking it to the bank.
If I ever get to Nashville, Kenny Vaughan will be on my MUST SEE list.
"workin' in the garden in a little straw hat - she's good like that" Just brilliant, Kenny. That line just nails it!
Kenny is bad ass, Marty you are awesome !!!!
My mother loved
Marty Stuart!!She's
sorely missed on this mothers
day...it's has been two years.
Man, the likeness of Kenny Vaughn and Buddy Holly in their own styles just shot right through me.
Kenny has been around for years. After seeing him in Lucinda Williams Band on Austin City Limits in 1998 I was hooked. Kenny is probably one the most unknown great guitarists around. He's credited on many other artists work. I'm happy I was able to see Marty and the "Fabulous Superlatives just before Covid kicked in.
When Lucinda came out of retirement 20 years ago at SXSW every one who was anyone was there to hear her.
@@e2renee I hope she's better after her stroke. I listen to Elizabeth Cook on Sirius XM a lot and she mentioned she's doing much better. We've lost so many people lately I would hate to she her go.
Somehow these guys come off totally cool. Others would look like goofs trying. Not these guys. Leads are so clean. Just love it!
Because they are the real deal. You should see Marty and the Superlatives live!
thank you so much Marty, cousin Kenny, Chris and The Fabulous Superlatives. Danged if you 'aint the bestest this side o' Talladega!
Wow. I respect anybody who manages to make "thermostat" work in a rock'n'roll song!
Go, Kenny, go-go-go!
"Professor Scruggs" as Marty calls him on the steel. You can imagine his bloodline.
He plays anything with strings like ot ain't got any!
Goes off the chain completely!
I was just at the Earnest Tubb Record Store over the weekend. I strongly urge everyone who loves music to make the trip to Nashville and visit this place. It’s truly worth the journey.
Yeah, musicians are a generous breed - they even let Earnest Tubb sit in.
Well, that's only appropriate, it is his store, after all! LOL
Marty just looks like he’s having fun!
Love this song! Sounds like a country song with a hint of "old school" jazz (the backup vocals). Kenny and Marty have become my two most favorite guitar players, bumping my previous favorites BB, Hendrix, Clapton, and Richards. And I loved the addition of the Steel Guitar. IMHO these guys are the best in Country Music Hands-down! Can't wait until they come near me in Prince Frederick Md.
Agree on all right down to the exact list of former favorites. They're still awesome, but they're not Kenny and Marty and can't do what they do.
Quite a set of musicians including Chris Scruggs on slide guitar, grandson of Earl Scruggs.
Kenny V! One of my favorite performers!
Diggin' the dual guitar attack. They're HOT like that.
1947 till 2022 Ernest Tubb Record Shop Closers, some serious history now gone
Little did anyone know then that Chris Scruggs would be joining The Fabulous Superlatives several years later and become an awesome addition to the band! Paul Martin has some pretty big shoes to fill. What an awesome group of talent!
Classic 40s/50s Boogie Country brought back to life- Hank Thompson/Bob Wills/Speedy west style from the Brazo’s of Texas/Oklahoma 🇺🇸
Wow, how could anyone not like this. Let's not ignore that sick pedal steel by Chris Scruggs. That whole band is tight, Marty is never surrounded by chumps.
No pedals. Just a table steel.
@@rockinredneck57 Duly noted! My mistake.
My favorite song. Kenny is HOT LIKE THAT! PLAY ON FRIEND
Damn...you boys understand rocknroll and country music. Dang
Not a country fan but I'm a huge guitar fan. And this guy has it! Love his way of playing. And clean.

Listen to Eddy Shaver, Buck and Don Rich, Johnny Hilland, pete Anderson, Brett Mason, danny gatton, and Albert Lee... Ohhh and that Billy Strings guy...
@@jpb1231000 Thanks. I'll check the ones out that I'm not familiar with. I love Pete Anderson's work on the early albums of Dwight Yoakum!
@@yepper1165 Marty Stewart and his FABULOUS SUPERLATIVES too
Kenny Vaughn is a Beast and MARTY is a MASTER ... Marty Plays Clarence Whites bender too... White's widow gifted it to him...
Kenny has some "SOLO" Songs where he is "The Frontman" with THE SUPERLATIVES and some wiith Brent mason and Guthrie Trapp .... Carolee, Okolona Tennessee, and You know it ain't Right... The latter with Kenny and Guthrie is a Tutorial in BAD ASSERY!!!
@jpb1231000 I got to see Marty Stewart and the Fabulous Superlatives at a small venue a few months ago. Marty Stewart is a great guitar player in his own right. Both together on stage is great to see.
Damn those boys are good!!
This was the kind of music that made me damn proud to be from Nashville. Sadly it’s all but a niche market around here anymore.
Marty is the coolest for featuring his incredible band! ❤
It's so awesome, strumming, picking, twanging, sangin' all old school like that, and then they go and end w/a 13 chord, hah, I LOVE IT !!!
c'mon boys, yer hot like that :) you know it!
i could watch these guys all day
Great entertainment right there.👍👍🇨🇦
Damn! Ain't nothing but talent on that stage!
I almost have to watch this everyday!
All stars ,hands down ,!❤
Is anybody having more fun than these guys? Nice to hear that despite the crap they play on the radio, country music still lives on.
Nothing like hearing good country again! I can't listen to the crap out of Nashville these days.
You need to hear Kelleys Heroes. They will blow you out the back door of Roberts 4 nights a week.
The lyrics in that last verse are both hilarious and awesome. "She can shake it she can break it she can hang it on the wall, throw it out the window run out and catch it ‘fore it falls She’s fast like that, fast like that, pitch it from the mound run and smack it with the bat she’s fast like that"
Edit: just figured out the first half of that line is from the Bob Wills tune Bring It On Down To My House
Bob may have borrowed that line himself. It's quite old. It's good to keep things like that fresh.
Ernest Tubbs... keepin' it cool off on the left. Great band.
Simply amazing. It just happened to take me 10 years to come across this video.
Kenny's great, I really didn't know he had a voice. He can sing.
To have Marty Stewart backing you, just goes to show what a great guy he is.
No ego trip there.
Sounds country, real good ,I'm a new Kenny Vaughn fan
Does not get any better than this!
Marty always looks so cool :-)
This is definitely the western side of country and western, as it used to be called.
How could 43 people give this a thumbs-down?
They have no taste in music.
Marty's in it for the music !
Oh yeah, amazing stuff!!!
Greatest Tele player and 2 great Tele guitars......cant fail.
That's 4 Tele players. Paul Martin on bass here, plays a mean guitar, he fronted Exile in the 90s, Chris Scruggs is a monster guitar player and if Kenny ever decides to retire, Chris will likely take his place. Kenny has said Chris is the best guitar player in the band.
I gotta get out and see these guys the next time they cruise through town.
That buttered my biscuit. Earl Scruggs is Chris' grandpappy.
Kenny Vaughan, you are the man!
If you are into good guitar playing you are way into these guy👨🏻🦳
They are a superb band! I live in the UK and I love listening to these guys. Wonderful musicians and great entertainers.
Straight up professional.
Kenny, you're an insparation. Much like Marty Stuart, Kenny rips off the older lead style of playing guitar and it works so well.
Very impressive band. The rhythm is great. I can’t help dancing.
Drippin with talent...
I HAVE OFFICIALLY FOUND MY NEW HERO ON GUITAR!
I understand that everyone has their own tastes, but there are at least 50 people out there that are absolutely clueless.
All these guys are amazing. What a joyous listen
Fabulous!!
I especially like Chris Scruggs' Hank Williams style steel guitar solo.
He definitely got the DNA passed down!! Think I need to find some of his work to buy.
Scuggs is incredible on the steel.
Michael Hughes Give credit to Don Helms. He was Hank's steel player.
Friendly, polite young man, too. Met him a few times.
Nothing better than twin teleys ,a doghouse base a a steel person that knows his way around the bar and frets 2 bad mr paul is playing his jazzmaster . No mater ,its the best and folks now days will never figure it out
REAL COUNTRY MUSIC!!!
Fantastic!
Someone's gotta say it.... Chris Scruggs!!!!
Kenny Vaughan ROCKS!!!
Wow! Scruggs. He's OK on the bass, in the regular quartet, but on the steel...Whoa. All virtuosic players here.
Fun song. Have to hear it asgain.
Great band...love Chris Scruggs' steel guitar playing not to mention his guitar work with BR-549...wish that they would let him play some steel in the Fabulous Superlatives...
Absolutely brilliant song, and playing and singing from Kenny Vaughan, and great playing from Chris Scruggs.
Many thanks for posting this.
Next SRV one you do should have “ couldn’t stand the weather “ & “ you’ll be mine” good examples of his muting and strumming techniques
Marty Stuart and Kenny Vaughan are two peas in a pod!
Throw in Chris Scruggs and you have e a world class gang of musicians!
I like real country music like this , no the modern fake stuff that started coming out in the 90s ! If it’s called new country it ain’t country !
Listen to Scruggs play that steel!!! I LOVE IT!!!
Good Lord, that’s awesome!
All great musicians and a fun show to watch!!
It's basically tight like that but country fried
I like this music , i was even there on the concert . Greetings from a Belgian fun
