I agree with the principle, but remember: Royalties! A pity somebody with money and a dedicated series couldn't pick up these shows and rerun them. METV wouldn't THINK of it.

This show ended after the 1980-81 season, although syndicated shows bicycled then and the shows might not have aired on the same week in every city, this is most likely a rerun broadcast. Dottie West as per IMDB was the musical guest on the (week of) 10/17/1980 episode. Bowzer's next TV gigs didn't have him as a greaser, as the host in the 1983-84 season of Pop N Rocker Game and the recently airing in reruns Match Game Hollywood Squares house
Walkin' The Dog and Mustang Sally... sound an awful lot alike or it just me? These young girls are now in their early 50's. I'm sure this is a special memory they still talk about. I would also think the girls were not picked randomly ... you wouldn't want some kid deciding to be camera shy at the last moment. This show was corny but it was geared for kids. Five or seventy five you could watch this show. I loved it for the music but I still got plenty of laughs, too.
If you listen to the lyrics it makes sense (smh). Don't make it weird dude, the singing was in front of a crowd of people and meant to be simply for wholesome fun.
If you slow down this clip, for one frame you can see 'Dirty Dan' McBride in the opening credits between Chico Ryan and Denny Greene; McBride had left Sha Na Na at the end of the third season (both the show and the group).
I remember watching the show in the evening on maybe Monday or Tuesday nights when I lived in the Detroit telly market. A move at the end of summer 1979 dropped me in a town where, without the motivation to read through the tv guide, I didn't find out for MONTHS that Sha Na Na aired early on Sunday afternoons. On weekend afternoons I always had things I'd rather be doing than watching tv, so I only saw one more show.
I loved the Krofft shows! I always thought that Sha Na Na should have guest-starred on one of the networks' Saturday morning preview specials...or, better yet, hosted one.
Walter C. Miller’s lineage continues to this day with his son Paul Miller and daughter Deborah Miller and daughter-in-law Beth McCarthy-Miller all serving as directors.
Sha Na Na and Bowser are one of the earliest memories I have as a child watching this with my folks and never once saw it again until 2021. I hope i can wipe this show’s memory from brain for good 😩
well done. stumbled across this whilst trying to find a song to diss our Police minister with his " you must be asleep by 9pm". was going for "goodnight sweetheart"..... this is great. thank you for keeping the Bowser,Johnny and the boys alivexxxxxxxx
Donny sang a great version of "Puppy Love"...not sure if the first two girls were really into it, but the third girl definitely was; she made eye contact with Donny and smiled.🌞 The fourth girl didn't even have to be walked to the stage; she ran right up there!(lol). Good for her! I wonder if any or all of them remember that special time in their lives?😊
As a child, I thought it was embarrassing. Time might be a bit more kind. I can't see myself watching every episode, but I remember the opening and closing. It is nice to see it as aired, with commercials. Thank you.
Ugh, this, Hee-Haw, and Laurence Welk were all variety shows I hated as a kid in the 70's. Maybe this format was a Boomer thing... now 40 years later and I just watched this again...still hate it. I was honestly more entertained by the vintage commercials than the actual show itself. Sorry guys!
I was a kid back then and loved variety shows - this, Donny and Marie, Carol Burnett, Sonny and Cher, even right on down to Shields and Yarnell, Captain and Tenille, and Tony Orlando and Dawn. And Muppet Show. But yes the corny humor goes back to the 50s - even Vaudeville. If I like the personalities involved and/or the musical numbers then it is all up my alley. But I totally get it not being some peoples cup of tea. Very nostalgic for me.
THANKS for leaving the old commercials in! It's entertainment now too!
Yeah, I'll say -- B.J. THOMAS!!!
Great show. I loved Sha na na as a kid n I love the chemistry with Bowzer n the gang
I never thought I'd see a full episode of Shanana! Thank you so much!!!💐
I was alive back then, but how nice to have a reminder of what tv was like 40 years ago!
Wish there were more full episodes of this. Thanks for upping it
cheers
Those beer commercials were so great that I would have bought some if I wasn't 5 at the time!
Many thanks for posting this my friend!
They should sell all the seasons on dvd of this show. I would buy it.

The staging of "Puppy Love" didn't age well. It wouldn't have been so creepy if those first two little girls hadn't looked so very uncomfortable.
