See if you can get some honey icecream for the little one. If it doesn't help him, he'll still love it (well, it is icecream, who doesn't?!?). We have a brand called Mackie's with their branded honeycomb icecream flavour. My gawd, if you have laryngitis or a sore throat its fantastic relief!

There is also the fact you got all your ducks in a row as much as you could financially before making the transition. Your wife still works a "normal" job, too. That actually helps a lot because she ensures you have decent healthcare and she was able to support the family and farm in the early years before you got a good RUclips following.

'Balance?'.....Let's just say that being an extreme introvert is an advantage for rural life. I go to the grocery store and have to do that polite chat-with-neighbors thing while I shop and that's PLENTY of social interaction for the week for me.

Another vote here for preemptively clipping these phrases from videos: "Good Morning Ginny Barn Cat", "Good Morning Pablo Barn Cat, ouch Pablo!", "Release The Quackens", "Where are The White Farm Dogs", "Abby, tranquila" and that oldie but goodie, "Come on cows, fresh grass, come on cows, fresh grass" and using these phrases at the appropriate times. TED TALK SUGGESTIONS: (1) How to make a radical career change work both financially and emotionally (2) How a small farmer can supplement their income (3) How to keep relationships (SO, family, friends) active (4) How to avoid burnout in your "new" career (5) How to become a polymath (plumbing, electrical, animal care, writer, publicist, influencer) (6) How to accept help, whether farming, health-wise and emotionally....and (7) How to insert "DAD" jokes in your day to alleviate stress (pizza dough, REALLY?! argh).

A simple frame would make your hoop cover work. 2X4's or I use 2X2s. Two boards straight up in the middle from each side being secured to one from the hard fence. Then one board over head connecting these 2 boards together. Then 2 boards at the open end connected diagonally to the side fences. Unsure if you could get away with no board to the ground from the open end so that the cattle would not knock it over. That configuration would take some engineering on your part. The cattle panel usage is going to work great. Just needs some reinforcement. Healing prayers on the voice situation. Thanks for sharing. Love from Rhode Island.

in UK, rural communities, church was really important for the connection, social events, produce sale, help when you got ill. until cars, but when people walked, they all knew one-another, well.

Loved the bliss of only natural sound with no voice. I want to hear you convince America via te TED TALK how/why it's imperative that farming and basic human survival skills are taught in schools to every student at every level if we want to save our civilization & strengthen the character of our population. Otherwise we are doomed. We love u, man. U always lift our spirits.

I'm glad you had a good time here in good ol' NY! Honestly, I'd listen to you do a Ted talk on anything. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Sorry, I know that isn't helpful, but it's true. 💖
I do pretty well in isolation, I'm already pretty much a hermit 75% of the year. Just leave me with some food, lots of water, phone, and my gaming laptop and I'm totally fine.

At least you don’t have to call the cattle into a new grass patch.

Have you considered adding support beams and pillars for the cow shelters? The net you had there could be used pretty nicely.

When you get your voice back, you might want to record yourself saying “Hey cows! Come on cows. Fresh grass, Fresh grass. Come on!” in case you loose your voice in summer. Probably also “Release the quacken!” Plus “Sit Abbey!” & “Tranquilo” etc. 4:19 I would like a Ted Talk about deciding to change your life completely & actually following through with it. I am seeing it more & more on RUclips & it seems like witchcraft. 8:57 I’m not normally rural (visiting family in Tasmania for Christmas so I am very rural atm) however I am chronically ill. I spend the majority of my time alone despite living with my mother & sister. I deal with it by living in my imagination, leading a life that could never happen IRL (so there’s no pressure to make it real). Usually my cat is company enough but she passed in the last quarter of 2023

If you want more eggs in winter you need light therapy for your chickens. They need something like 14 to 16 hours per day. My chickens pretty well stopped at beginning of Dec until we got the electrical connection to the hen house working. I now get 3 to 5 eggs per day from the 7 hens in there.

Such dedication - filming/editing/publishing even with laryngitis. To heal well you do need some (physical) rest - you body needs more energy during healing time. Thank you. I will get back to you about possible topics for a TED talk. Take care.

Lays potato chips are wonderful for sore throats. Though anything that's really salty works 🧂
TED talk - you're going to rock whatever topic you pick! If you want suggestions, maybe "how to find and connect with your local farmers," "story telling," "becoming an entrepreneur while working full time," "building community," or "conflict resolution/mediation." You've got a lot of talents and experiences, maybe pick one you don't get to talk to your audience about very much?
Hope you get well soon and best of luck! 🍀

My sweet 88 year old mother-in-law is deaf, and has been, it is suspected, since contracting cerebral meningitis at 6-months old, so along with being unable to hear, she has also never developed the ability to speak. Yet, she is very smart, went to a deaf college, and has gracefully navigated the world all her life. In her later years she has even traveled the world with some deaf and hearing friends. You adapted well also, Morgan. Well done!

I love TED talks and would love to see you, Morgan, do a tutorial style TED talk about how a city slicker like me and your former self can become a farmer, and also why you think it’s important that more people do so.
