The wonderful thing about HomeFree, they sing for the music not for their own egos! Each man standing alone, each are remarkable musicians. They don't feel the need to jump up and down to be recognized! As a whole they are so amazing and limitless. Each one brings SO MUCH to the group. I can't wait to see what's next on the horizon!

Another wonderful reaction by you! I always call Home Free my warm fuzzy blanket, they just touch my soul and make me happy! You should really listen to their post video comments, you would have heard Tim say that he wrote this song 15 years ago and they often give commentary about the song/video. I am loving your reactions and can’t wait for the next one! Thank you and have a great day!

This is such a beautiful original song from Tim. He is a wonderful songwriter. This song was originally on Tim's solo album before joining Home Free called "The Best That I Could Do". Nice to see it redone with Home Free. Love Adam's percussion!

Sure has been fun following Home Free the last 5 years (for me) I know there are many on here who have been trailing them for a very long time. They really are the only group I have been following of the last 5 years, period.
The capability of excellence by each of the individuals in this group is off the charts awesome that allows them the flexibility to do so many types of vocalizations and to do it exceptionally well. I have not found a genre they are afraid to tackle whether individually or as a group they are amazing. Then top that off with their arrangements that augment the presentation to be "Home Free" owned. ❣

Direct hit straight to the feels. Sweet! This made me feel like I was curled up with my Snuggle Bug, across the bed, rubbing the fur on his belly; safe, warm and utterly content. The bass even sounds like his purr. And now, with you talkin bout gumbo, I need to get lunch.

This is such a good song! Tim, Chance & Austin are each song writers so there are lots of originals as well as covers. I think you might also enjoy Rob & Austin's video "Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera" - it will surprise you (it's on Austin Brown's channel). Home Free is also ego-free. They don't have a lead singer. Regardless of who wrote it, whoever sounds best, sings it (i.e. Austin wrote "Give Me a Sign" and sings back-up).

Warm - that is not only the perfect word for describing this song but HF as a whole. They honestly love what they are doing and make you feel like a part of their HF family - through their videos you will get to know their wifes/girlfriends, their children, their parents, uncles and aunts, their friends and even their pets as they often participate in their videos. They are equally good at making you cry with their videos as they are good to make you roll from laughter (their "funny" videos make no prisoners - and it is hard to tell who has more fun, we the audience or them making them).
I like other acapella groups as well - but HF.... there is something special about them...

Even though I've always loved the song, it still gives me an extra boost when you "see" them singing it and a video to go with it. Beautifully sung, great background vocals, amazing beatboxing which is not too overwhelming here and don't forget the incredible bass

I fell in love the first time I heard this song off Tim’s solo album. It’s so homey sounding and makes me want to curl up in a blanket. I like to listen again for all the little nuances you hear. And, of course, the harmonies they produce, and the drums. These guys are so good! Thanks so much for playing this today. I look forward to whatever you choose next. 🎶 Cyd

I'm not sure if you watched the outro on your own, but Tim wrote this before he joined Home Free and has been a favorite ever since. They have some amazing originals (Remember My Name or Understand among many others).
And I personally understood when someone would limit themself to one genre only or say they don't like a particular genre. I usuaslly go with indivudal songs, and rarely specific artists and I wouldn't consider myself a Country lover (mostly because it isn't all that known in my country) but I absolutely love Home Free.
Have you reacted to some of Tim Foust's solo stuff from his solo album Pieces of Me: Volume 1? It's a Doo Wop album and he did all the parts himself, though he only released 5 of them here on RUclips (on his channel). They are all amazing.
He also did an album with Peter Hollens (who is another amazing a capella artist) and they are also all amazing.

  • @nancyholter5646
    @nancyholter5646 Месяц назад +9

This is one of Tim's best, I think - although he does have some other fantastic songs that he has written/co-written.
If this was the first time you had seen HF, you'd not realize how much of a 'bass' Tim is. And I really appreciate that they show Chance covering the bass at the end, since we know Tim double tracked that in the first release 10 years ago. The ability to have 2 great bass singers has really expanded their options.
You might like the last 'note' of their version of Stand By Me. It is a 'I want that to last a bit longer' event, too.

    This is a lovely song.
Your analysis added a nice layer.
If you haven’t heard it, may I suggest HomeFree’s cover of “Listen to the Music”. Shows another side and Adam’s vocal perc is really fun. Dance the blues away. Takes me back to the 1970’s. 😂

Since you're just dipping your toes into the Home Free swimmin' hole, I'd like to suggest you watch Workin' for a Living. It provides you with the names of all the members at the very beginning, which can be helpful for people new to their stuff; it's got a lot of their humor in it; you can hear all the guys' parts (though baritone Chance sings lead); and Adam gets a whole bit to wail on his "nomonica".
While Tim wrote this before he joined Home Free, he'd already had plenty of experience as a touring musician and how much you can miss home and loved ones, even while seeing and doing awesome things. You can feel that experience in this song.

If you've heard this before,it must have been Home Free's first version. It was written by Tim Foust, the bass, who was singing lead. He has it on his CD from his own channel. No one else has done it before. It is a classic. I just love it. Thanks for your reaction! Also,I sent you the link to Nessun Dorma by Austin and Rob, a couple videos ago. I see people asking for it.

You've probably seen that Tim has a 5+ octave range and this is done basically in 3 & 4. To get a real idea go to "Misty Mountains" w/Peter Hollens and "My Maria" with Austin Brown.

  • @bluehorn50

They could not make the make the magic that they do without having healthy, collaborative rather than competitive egos. So many of their songs have the ensemble as the "lead, or feature multiple lead singers. But they also know when a single singer should take the lead, and then the others provide a whole-hearted support for that singer. This is an example. Others that you might want to check out include:
When a Man Loves a Woman" -- tenor Austin
"End of he Road" -- tenor Rob
"Cover Me Up" -- baritone Chance"Brothers in Arms" -- bass Tim, and baritone Chance

This is my favorite Tim original, and I am not even sure there is a close second (except for "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget" - for a different vibe). Truth be told, I actually like Tim's original version before Home Free just a smidge more than this one because I love the guitar in the beginning and the background instrumental throughout. But I like his solo line in this one better, as he has honed his vocal skills over the years and his vocal runs are astounding for a bass even in the low register. I also love Adam's tom drums. He has it down to a science yet still makes it feel organic imo. Anyway, love your analysis. Thank you for reacting to the best of the best. BTW I'm in NOLA (military transfer here). And you're absolutely right about this place. The people are great and the music is beyond that even. My dogs are named Gumbo and Roux, actually. I love this place :)

This is a re-make actually, a Tim original. There's a LIVE performance (and it's so damn good) by Tim before HF - a promo tour (radio, his solo album) and the one for the record with as with HF (vid/audio) and one LIVE w/2 lead switch ... damn good song! Many don't like Country or claim they don't; Country is "feel" "relate" and many don't like that! Tim's delivery just does it. Be Safe
