I remember watching this moment, parents were on holiday so I was having a cheeky doobie in my room because they weren't gonna be back for a couple of weeks.
This goal went in and it was still back when, as a United fan, our rivalry with Arsenal was still a big deal so I was jumping round the room celebrating and then I sat myself back down and was just suddenly like "I'm here in my parents house running around the room with a joint in my mouth while that guy is scoring the winning goal in a Premier League match! I'm only bloody 17 and he's still younger than me while he's doing that! Then I felt sad for a bit but didn't take too long to get over it. I had a free house, a big bag of weed and a very attractive female on her way over! Swings and roundabouts! lol.

As a 32 year old I was 13-14 as we headed into the 04 euros with this bright prospect. For the first time possibly ever we had a beast of a striker, a one man team who just needed 3 touches from 40 yards out. Everyone knew it. England were set up for a win that year. There were equally fantastic players playing for other nations, but leading into 04, no one really had the devastating force of Rooney. And that's why he was deliberately injured twice in a row. Never was he the same again after that. His style completely changed. So sad we never really got to see what he was fully capable of.
