You always make me hungry when I watch enjoy your foraging. Especially when you have a catch and cook. Never ever tried or seen anyone cook deep-fried Abalone. Looks really yum. 👍💯👍💯👍💯
Another great video out on the beach foraging, then cooking. Some amazing creatures along the way with a plentiful supply of lobsters for the late spring. Yes you work hard to get the ormers so you deserve the spoils, thanks for posting.
Guernsey’s David Bellamy showing us what a diverse coastline you have. Hope this weather turns soon, and we see you out fishing. Great work Jay, keep up the good work.
Hi Jay, to make it extra crunchie after dipping it in the beer batter then dip it in the panko breadcrumbs, and cook in the hot oil straight away. I used to work in a chicken shop that did this in my younger days, they dipped the tenderloin in the batter then the breadcrumbs and then straight into hot oil. They sold quicker than any other chicken pieces.
Braved the cold again👍. Those ormer fingers looked delicious. Crazy how many soft lobsters you found. Hopefully your weather gets a bit nicer for you lads. Catch you on the next one 👍🇨🇦
I enjoyed that mate but correct me if I'm wrong is a dozen not 12 as at 13:13 in the video you counted 12 and said you've got half a dozen, looks like the excitement of a nice tasty meal got the better of you. Brilliant mate 😆🙌
Oh, how I wish you could sale and ship me some of those abalone shells!! I love collecting shells for my flower beds. I love watching you and Sam foraging on the shore.
I really appreciate you making the effort and braving the cold, I have had hands so cold I had to use a pair of pliers to open my fly when the need occured. Keep a pair handy!
Sam is like an orma jedi at the moment, using the force to get them.looks like the Larry's are doing the same also.some fine lobsters in that area.well worth heading back there again.i had just ate a nice take away, but seeing you cook them orma's made me hungry again.weill done lads.
Brilliant video again smash ... nice foraging.... jay those orange coloured eggs in a cluster ,I’m sure there sea scorpion eggs ..I’ve found them around Portland (uK)
It looks really cold where you and Sam are. So cold here in New York. Too icy for me. Always impressed by your knowledge of the Latin names for the different species. I taught a semester of marine biology many years ago before there was your channel. I know that my students would have enjoyed it. Great video. Stay warm!
Slice them in half horizontally, dip them in flour, egg and panko bread crumbs.... Or smashed up chilli tortilla chips. I believe a well known brand starting with D makes them. Then make up a cream cheese and chive dip for them.
Brilliant forage video smash. Always laughing even when your frozen like an iceicle. Gutted for you both about the soft larrys. Dribbling over your beer bartered ormers
Could you do Abalone sushi or sashimi? You mentioned them tasting like scallops and I LOVE them raw. Unsure if abalone would be good though without cooking. Thoughts Smash?
Not wanting your hands to be cold in freezing water isn't "being a wussy" by the way :P I'd wear gloves too, those rocks are sharp as hell with all those little barnacles and cold hands make it a nightmare
Hey smash! Why is it you can’t keep the Larry’s while they are soft? Just wondering if you may have received the package I sent out? I’m guessing not yet seeing you haven’t did a catch and cook with it yet. Maybe due to the corona it’s taking a little longer than expected. Hope you get it soon. As always I enjoy the videos!!!
Excellent as always smash! What beer do you use for your batter? I use Newcastle brown ale or any dark ale gives a lovely crispy batter and a beautiful taste! Great content as per stay safe! 👌
The Latin name for them ormas. Sounds like something Harry Potter would whip out his pocket, chuck few spells around and whopppa snap it back in his Jeans 🤣. Happy hunting.
Great vid Smash. Ormers taste great but not tried the beer batter. I usually fry mine in a little olive oil and lemon juice. Shame about the Lobsters. That would have been a helluva cook up. Keep safe mate.
It’s great seeing all the different sea creatures and that you show them great look forward to the next one. Shame about the Larry colour was nice. Jay you need more chill sauce 😂 Is the pie crust 🦀 named that because of its shell ? Stay safe tight lines
This guy brings an immediate smile on my face as soon as I click on his video ☺️🙏👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The cold had my brain scrambled mate lol
Awsome vid as always my friend:) The cook ups you do always make my hungry. Thank you!
Happy Valentine's day to you and your family from Pennsylvania USA

I knew that the fried ormers were gonna be delicious.
if you pressure cook abalone with some salty water, sake(or white wine), and some kombu(or any other seaweed) for 2 hours, they got extra tender :D
I'll have some lobster for you today. I'm cooking up some lobster cakes from the store of course ;)
You jammy sod, sat here with my mouth watering, great to see you are well, keep safe
Its been freezing for the past few days, can't believe you guys are out and in the water🥶
Haha we love it , thanks for watching
Thats my Sunday evening sorted the Valentines meal and the missus can wait 😂

Another great vid mate !! Try 50/50 flour and corn flour in a beer batter...just makes batter extra crispy 👌🍻🍻
Thanks Paul
EXCELLENT VIDEO!! THEY LOOK SOOOOO GOOD!!
3:47 I appreciate the slow motion rock fall. I was thinking, man this video lacks dramatic slow motion rock falls, then BLAMO. I got what I wanted.
Great video Smash!!!!!!!

Careful! Don’t fry your fingers! 😄
Lovely vid Smash!! Thank you.
Stay safe.
By the way. Try and season the flour you dust the ormers with before you put them into the batter. 👍🏻😋
Love your vids man! I can’t watch an hour of you doing this but can’t get through a minute long tiktok
Have you thought about scrubbing the ab foot before you take it out of the shell. Might be easier to handle! Love the videos!
The sweet chilli king strikes again
Brilliant forage video smash. Always laughing even when your frozen like an iceicle. Gutted for you both about the soft larrys. Dribbling over your beer bartered ormers
Haha thanks Racheal

The 'silence' says it all!! Enjoy mate!

Great video @smashfishing What camera are you using jay ....is it a go pro ?

Could you do Abalone sushi or sashimi? You mentioned them tasting like scallops and I LOVE them raw. Unsure if abalone would be good though without cooking. Thoughts Smash?

Great video jay, is the sea slug some sort of nudibranch maybe 🤔
Hi mate
I heard the other week that Lihou Island is going to be a Ramsar site
And that Lihou Island was now roped off to the public ?
Is this true
I believe so mate iv heard people say it but not sure if it’s true , there is rope round some parts but you can walk round it

Thanks liz yes the pie crust name is from the shell it’s real name is an xantho crab
Awesome dude, slug looks a bit like a sea mouse to me
What a great adventure
I thought 12 was a dozen not half a dozen haha Good work mate
Beautiful white flesh of the floormer haha. Great work!
How come you can't keep the soft lobsters? How long does it take for the shells to harden? Absolutely love your videos!!!
They don’t taste nice , it takes about a week for the shell to harden properly
At what point does the Ormer die during the process? Hopefully before it get's tenderised.
@@michaelbyrne4975 I'll have to ask one and let you know what he says.
Another cracking video 🤙What's the reason behind you not taking soft lobsters?
