  • Welcome to Episode 29! Today we talked about things from our childhood we would want to change when raising our own baby. We are thankful for the way we grew up but now that we have our own baby on the way, we’ve been thinking a lot about how we want to raise them and whether or not it will be similar to the ways we were raised!
There are so many new things for us to be thinking about when it comes to the baby but we are so excited to be pregnant and can’t wait to teach our baby so many new things :) Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

I have exercise induced asthma too (mostly during allergy season), but I rarely got full blown asthma attacks so I didn’t even realize I had it until one particularly intense track practice in 8th grade. But it was also kind of encouraging to find out that the reason so many people seemed to be having an easier time sprinting 400s or 800s, or running long distance, was that they could actually breathe better. I think that’s why 100m was my specialty.. you only take a few breaths 😅 I did notice that my times were slower during the year my asthma was worse.

Parenting is hard at all stages. It can get so overwhelming! But it is so awesome at the same time. I remember when I had my first baby I was so scared. My nurse could tell I was scared to even hold my baby. I was so not prepared. As we were leaving the hospital my nurse said "Just remember, all you need to do is love him and feed him, the rest will just come" My oldest is 13 now and he's doing great!

Thanks for being so honest and humble, it changes from the usual stuff on social media, don't change, you are doing great !

Parenting is so hard! You both have a great foundation from your own childhood to share with one another an your children! The most important thing is to remember to be flexible! Each child is different is so things that work for one child may not work for another! Set rules and boundaries, but don’t be too strict. Like you said, kids will be kids so if you’re being to strict odds are that they are doing things behind your back. Jonas also touched on knowing how “disappointed” his parents were when he egged that house. I also remember the fear of disappointing my parents was far worse than the fear of getting in trouble.

Do NOT ALLOW anyone judging your parenting...be a team...and the iPad will come in handy in moderation. ..but be you teach by example and heck on anyone that judges u...they don't have YOUR child YOUR life...im so happy I remember after the Olympic when u said u can't wait to have babies so dang happy for you both! Praying for strength knowledge and a shield to people who judge you both...

My best advice don't concentrate too much I'm trying to do things differently just do what you feel you guys will do the right thing focus on making each day great and full of love focus on your child in the future don't worry too much about the past but modifying behavior is always a good thing❤❤❤❤

Ahhh when parents are disappointed....worst feeling. I think you’ll be good parents. Maybe you’re finding things hard because you’re in a great transition in life and transition always feels bumpy and uncomfortable but where the enemy is magnifying your differences, I actually think your differences will be so purposeful when raising your baby. I believe you will both offer each other what you need.
I know you will love your baby very deeply MyKayla and Jonas. I have no right to judge.

MyKayla it’s funny, to me, to hear you say your parents were older because mine were 32 when I was born. Was raised Catholic. Did gymnastics myself too.

I feel like MyKayla is so warm to Jonas but maybe it’s his personality, he just isn’t expressive emotionally.

Jonas is right about spending money and shopping. Your parents had great ideas about teaching you spend money wisely. The goal is to raise your kids to be independent and still want to call you. We let our daughters have screen time no more than 2 hours a day. We try to stick with under 2 hours. We want them to read, play, exercise, stretch, and live life not just watch others living life.

Idk, I feel like Jonas is a bit cheap… like, it’s okay to buy a couple of things here and there throughout the year. Not everything has to be saving and investing.

MyKayla why can't you influence young girls to be responsible with spending money and buying clothes. Letting them learn boundaries and buying what you need and not what they want. Or learning to save for a special occasion. That would be a more valuable educational lesson for young girls vice just spending and buying whatever you want.

Jonas: try an iron infusion. I have the same problem and I got so much more energy and feel so much better. You go to a hematologist to get one.

    • @NatalieMarie917
      @NatalieMarie917 9 месяцев назад

Iron deficiency anemia isn’t the only cause of that though, so if his ferritin level is normal, an iron infusion would be more harmful than not. But they would obviously do bloodwork first to see.

I really loved the idea of this topic..until I watched the video. I feel like it was just so much of you guys putting each other down subtly and your families, more so MyKayla's, that was kinda unnecessary in order to get the point across you were raised so differently. I came out knowing that Mckayla's parents argue A LOT ( According to Jonas), her family loves excessive drama and thrives on it ( which isn't usually looked at as a positive trait), her sister Katie needed financial help, she can't budget money and has a shopping problem ( according to Jonas). Jonas seems like he is secure in feeling he was raised in a more superior way just by the mannerisms he is putting off and the subtle judgements and put downs he is throwing towards MyKayla. None of this is my business but you guys made it everyones business bc you put it on the internet. I would just encourage you guys to maybe look at how you word things and think about who may be affected from it when it doesn't just pertain to you two as individuals, in this instance your families. You may have not meant any of that stuff in a malicious or uncomfortable way but it certainly came across as jabs and uncomfortableness mostly from the comments about MyKayla's family and upbringing. I loved the end about not judging people but you guys were judging each other and families the whole videos so it was kinda a null point.

MyKayla, is it possible you being born dead created some of the “disability” you speak of? My friend was born blue (lack of oxygen) and he has autism, however I have prayed with him and helped him and God helps him tremendously.
I just know there can be shame with infirmities but we can’t help it, especially when we don’t look like we have infirmities/disabilities or being female (men can get help quicker than women with certain disabilities, been my experience unfortunately).

Just need to remember that there’s no instruction manual of an exact “how to” when it comes to parenting. You becoming new parents will run its course and you’ll most likely critique yourselves more than some randoms on the internet which should never matter to you. You two will do just fine.

About 3:15 on jonas... Mykalya is anything but lazy. Shes growing a person, and women get mad tired while that happens. Jonas try some empathy. Also she got businesses and worked her ass off her entire existence 7 hours a day while you did a couple chores a day. This podcast is possible bc of how hard she worked all those years. She deserves to relax a little before the baby comes bc jonas youre not going to be breast feeding at 4 am.

It genuinely seems like you two didn't talk much at all before getting married. The emotional immaturity is unbearable. I really hope you're able to find therapy. It is hard to watch Jonah bite his tongue at the spoiled things being said.

Not only did we not wear those clothes they were against school dress code and now they are accepted which I don’t agree with because I think modesty should be demonstrated and showing your midriff and excessive amounts of skin is distracting
