My vitos had to be pushed alot too. But when they bolted up, u would think their oem. No twists, bends, creases. I later unbolted them and rhey didn't spring out. I think when they sit for awhile, not bolted up to anything, they sag and slowly twist over time. But they come out of it, and fit sweet. I did have to elongate rear fender lower frame mounts, not the heel guard one. Vitos feel strong and sturdy just like oem. Yes I have oem too lmao. Only difference is the rivet head size underneath the plastics and that's it!!!!!
I appreciate this feedback Den; I would consider that good fitment if they seem to reform after they're mounted. I imagine even OEM can get out of spec if they're left sitting long enough in a weird/twisted position.

@@MichaelSabo of course man thank you the great content and letting everyone be apart of your super badass build🤙🤙eager for the frame to get power coated!!
You're lucky (or not, depending on how you look at it) you even got bolt holes in your Maier plastics. My Honda 200x Maier front and rear fenders both did not come pre-drilled at all. That could be good or bad but I am VERY bad at trying to line things up and drill my own!
Ya know the one reason I prefer the warning labels to be either raised, indented or exactly like oem is that when your restoring a classic machine you want as close to oem as possible. Stickers won’t cut it in that department. As far as a rider quality machine that your going to slap graphics and sponsor logos all over than obviously a sticker is 100% hands down best. I hope you return the Amazon eBay plastics, I think on another machine that’s not going to be on a RUclips channel you can make them work for sure
I forgot to mention that; I 100% afree, for a restoration, the warning labels should look perfect like they came off the assembly line; stickers won't cut it.
I wish OEM plastics were still available for the old QuadRacers. I've got no need to buy them, but it'd be nice for someone who has the money and need for them to have the option. Made in Japan OEM plastics ALWAYS fit well, unless one's tabs/mounts/frame are bent. Newer Maier fenders are better then their older stuff, but I never liked their Zilla front fender being 2 pieces, or their Zilla hood. I understand that the huge front fender needs to be 2 piece for manufacturing ease, but I never understood the hood difference. It looks a little goofy. If I were to buy one, I'd either cut the top lateral fin, so it would look like an OEM, or cut all the fins off and attach a fine mesh to it. Racer look. Here's a fun fact! Maier used to make a race molded, not cut, MOLDED front fender for the Zilla, but stopped some time before 1995. I've seen ONE, and I've seen MANY Zillas. I also wish they would offer their plastic in the wacky colors of the 90s. I've seen green, lite blue, purple, and pink Zillas! Maier also used to make plastic for the Banshee to make it look like a raptor! They still make the fronts but no rears, so what's da point. I think you don't like the warning decals because they are too contrasty! White and black with orange. The BEST warnings are on old OEM Honda plastic. They are molded right in there, so they are still there, but ya don't SEE them, body color, no contrast! Second place goes to 1988 and older Suzukis. The warning stickers were black lettering on body color backgrounds! Very nice! I like my stitched OEM fenders. No, they are not stitched with 1/4 inch holes, drilled an inch apart, stitched with zip ties. They use a secret method I'm pretty sure my Dad was the first to use on plastic. Anyway, I'm not gonna replace or cut them. They give my rig most of his character. Just like my blue steel nerf bars! All my Zilla's small dents, scratches, repairs, stitching, etc, on it have stories. With my Zilla, the stories usually end long ago with my Dad using it to break someone's heart or hurt their feelings! I was gonna restore it, but then I'd be really afraid of getting my perfect machine dirty, a twig on the trail scratching the plastic, etc. Also, it'd be just another restored Zilla. There are so few in good original condition these days. Another thing, I'd loose the markings from the stories!
I know what you mean with the zilla maier fenders; I just recently did one and it is sort of tacky needing to be joined up at the nose; but they did look nice when they were all together. I good set of OEM fender (if you can find one) would be crazy expensive I bet! I agree, if the warning labels had a matching background color to whatever plastic you have, they would look WAAAY better!
Thanks for this video! I am looking for some new ones for my banshee. I have the maiers currently and think I will stick with them. Also if you piece out the plastics on Amazon they seem to be comparable to OEM price. Also excited for the Voodoo build! Thanks man!
Great comparison. I'm doing a 100% restoration on a 2001 Raptor 660 myself. I actually bought the last set of blue OEM plastics from Yamaha after they discontinued them. OEM is always gonna be the best choice for fit and quality. My Raptor came with the Maiers on it when I bought it & personally I just think the Maiers for a Raptor 660 look like shit😂.
OEM always rules and MAIER varies. I have the wonderful gift of finding Honda ATC plastic. OEM fits absolutely perfect but is near impossible to find. If you do find some for the 250R or 350X, the rear fenders run >2500$ or >700$ for a front, find a NOS seat and you'll pay 800$ or more. The MAIER stuff is okay but every model is different, some fit great, some fit lousy. There are also guys making them out of fiberglass and some guys do a nice job with multiple layers. The fit and finish is "OK" but others are the thinnest shittiest fiberglass fenders you've ever seen, like homemade go cart bad...
I have two Honda ATC 250ES Big Reds , I put Maier plastic on one and am 100% happy with it . My other Big Red I put Chinese eBay plastic on it . Horrible fit ! Holes drilled in the wrong spot , some holes not drilled at all . Side panels tucked under rear fenders instead of outside like oem. I had to trim a few corners to get rear fenders to fit using a hack saw , so I marked the underside with a black marker . I used some brake cleaner on a rag to remove excess black marker ink and the plastic started melting , turned to goo !! Junk !
Oh man... the brake cleaner trick is a good test; Maier and OEM it will have no effect; they're definitely making these Chinese plastics out of a cheaper material; thank you for sharing your experience Todd!
As far as plastics go you are correct about UFO now only making plastic for dirt bikes. They make Replica plastics for older machines you can either buy in a set or a piece at a time. Sadly it seems the oldest they go is 1986 so they don't offer plastic for my YZ 465. Maier on the other hand is the only plastic maker who does make fenders and side number plates for the 465 but they only offer white or yellow. If you want to do something more wild color wise like me you'll have to paint your plastic. The other plastic makers I know of personally other than Maier and UFO are Acerbis and Cycra, but again they only make dirt bike plastic. Most of Acerbis' stuff is universal and Cycra only seems to make plastic for much newer bikes.
@@MichaelSabo No problem. It's a pain finding anything with a nice new style and different color choices for classic bikes. Especially if you want to give them a fresh look to make them different and make it yours. Your videos are always worth the wait, keep up the good work. :)

Hi , I have a 93 banshee and it has an Athena 65mm original carburettor pilot 32.5 main jet 310 flaper v4, my problem is that when you get on the banshee the right pipe is colder than the other. I did the comparison and it is 150psi on both sides, but the leak depression test goes down slowly, what would be the problem,
I want to build a blaster. How could I get more performance? Do you have any tips, or techniques for porting? I want to make mega fast mega cheap. A carb should cost around 30 to 40 dollars. Mikuni. I'm also thinking of shaving the head.
Man there are so many things to do to make a blaster faster lol. If you want to do a little porting; you can shave the upper portion of the exhaust port so that it is even with the casting in the cylinder and that alone will open up the top end more than you'd think. That paired with a good exhaust and intake and reeds will really wake her up. I would recommend a genuine carb if you're going to get an aftermarket! Hope this helps!
Kind of unrelated but mike you inspired me to get my build going just trying to get some opinions my bike has an Athena 400cc bb kit with fmf fattys but I want to also build a trail bike I was heavily considering going to an alpha cub setup with shearers and going long travel $$$ 😭 I already have 30mm lectrons so I’m good in that dept. what you guys think? Should I go LT or save my money for the cub or just full send. Btw I love the content keep the quads alive especially 2 strokes 💎
Always awesome to hear I've inspired someone to get their build going 🤘 I think long travel could be great but it will be wide, unless you found an LT set that isn't. Built standard travel can make a really big difference if it's setup for your weight and it will be cheaper than long travel. It may help to call Rocket Ron Suspension and ask his opinion; Ron has been doing suspension forever and he will have better advice than me. For power; the alpha cubs and shearer will scream up top (something I'd like) but keep in mind, that's not a setup for everyone, especially for the trails. That will be peaky, hard hitting and a lot of fun, but definitely not well manored like a low ported setup with a low/mid pipe like an FMF or SLP. I hope this helps man!

Hey Michael Sabo! I’ve been loving the videos! Any chance you would sell me those eBay plastics discounted?😂 Your channel inspired me to get a banshee last night, and I’m trying to do a budget build. Thanks for the videos man, you rock!🤘
I am doing a hybrid build replica of the quad I was racing 18yrs ago when a guy landed on me and broke my neck. It is a Blaster with a YZ250 motor swap. So I went with Maier plastics. Got the rear it was in a box with a clear bag no packing material or anything. I contacted Maier and the owner responded and told me he would box up a replacement himself and send it out. I returned the damaged (scuff marks everywhere) plastics. When I got the replacement it had been packed the same way so I am done dealing with Maier as his response was it must be the shipping company. No it was not packed right so Maier gets a zero from me. Sorry just wanted to share my experience. Btw this quad is gonna be displayed in my home that’s why I wanted everything perfect or at least close.
Dude, I appreciate you sharing this experience; it sucks to hear, but people need to share things like this or the manufacturers may never improve. Sorry to hear about your experience breaking your neck years ago but I hope your replica build comes out great!
Oh I told everyone on the forums I am on. Thanks for the great content and one day when my build is done I will send ya a pic she is gonna be beautiful.
Mr sabo sir. Had a quick question on the yfz450 calipers . I have a j frame myself and the caliper mounts no not match up at all . just wondering wat year spindles you have and if they worked on yrs or not
Hmm, did you use the link in my video or another vendor? It's possible that my spindles were updated at some point before I bought my Banshee but I think they should match up to all years. Mine are for an 04-09 1st gen YFZ. Here is the exact set I ordered - ebay.us/6jgchz
@@MichaelSabo yea I bout the same year cuz I was curious only difference is I got a genuine oem and only got one. But thanks cant wait for the next banshee update
Someone else just asked the same thing lol. Its coming in the future, right now the large file size of 4K bogs down my editor and computer. Upgrades coming!
Same here; when you can get OEM for almost the same price... why would you even try the aftermarket unless it had superior quality or some sort of advantage?
On my kfx450r I have a bolt that holds the side lower plastic the bolt is under the seat my issue is it just spins but don't back out I've tried prying up and I turn it and no luck I don't wanna ruin the plastic trying to cut it off because there isn't really any space to get between the 2 any suggestions
I had this same thing happen on my KFX. The rivet nut in your frame is probably spinning. I use a thin cut off wheel and I was able to get between the bolt head and plastic and cut the head off without damaging the plastic. Do it slow and take breaks so it doesn't get too hot and melt the plastic and you could be good. If you cant get between the bolt head and plastic; I'd grind the bolt head off little by little keeping it cool. Once its out, the rivet nut can be drilled out and a new one riveted to the frame. Here's a cheap rivet nut kit that can do it - amzn.to/3uKgHFN - there are nicer ones, but that will get the job done. Hope this helps man!
@@MichaelSabo aw what the heck man, lol I'm just kidding bro, you built that quad quite a while ago now dont be sorry to me haha thanks though man I appreciate it
Almost 100% because of storage and computer power; the larger the file, the more bogged down my system gets while editing. I agree though; 4K will be in the future with some upgrades 🤘
@@MichaelSabo Well in a couple to few months AMD is releasing new hardware and some cheap used stuff should pop up that would be worth it to look at. I don't know your pc build but there could be decent upgrades if you're willing to work on your pc.
I would pull the head and jug and see how the piston, rings and cylinder looks. Chances are a new set of even just rings could bring in some life. While the head is off I'd also check to see if your valves are sealing. Put the head upside down on a bench and fill it with a thin oil or kerosene and see if it holds or is leaks and you'll know
Can you still get oem from Rocky Mountain ? Wouldn’t mind ordereing a set to stash but the link just goes to their homepage…body section when you search just has maier only

These maier fenders are close; I've had it next to banshees with OEM blue fenders and they're not exact, but you have to really stare to see the difference. The UFO are almost exact.
Hey so if anyone finds this comment I need some help I have a 1981 atc250r if you don't know what that is it's a 3 wheeled 2 stroke 250 machine. I'm only 15 and don't know a lot about 2 strokes. My dad got it for free from a friend at work and it sat in my shed for 3 years and I got it running 8 or so months ago and had to figure out how to ride a 2 stroke, without fouling the plug especially since my dad has it running at a 32:1 fuel oil mix, Anyway back to my problem I just got a chance to take it out and really hammer on it and it gets into the power band and starts climbing around half throttle and then when I get to around 3/4 throttle/full throttle it just feels like it starts bogging and has a noticeable drop in power. And i just dont know if it should just drop off like that, if there is anything I missed or more info that you need to diagnose my problem just ask but I have given all that I can think about right now. Thanks for reading this far, any ideas as to what is wrong will help as im a novice to 2 strokes.
I would start with the jetting man, especially if you're having problems with the plug fouling. 32:1 shouldn't foul plugs if it's correctly jetted. I run 24:1 at time and don't have fouling. I think a safe, easy bet is to pull the carb and clean it; and then try dropping the main or large jet ONE size at a time and see if that clears up the upper RPM range. Make sure your air filter and exhaust are not plugged up with splooge (old 2stroke oil built up from exhaust) as that can plug up an engine too especially in the upper RPMs. Hope this helps man!
@@MichaelSabo alright thanks man, I'll try cleaning out the exhaust and air filter before I buy a jet kit. And is there a specific jet kit you would recommend I'm guessing genuine keihin jets
@@MichaelSabo well after waiting 2 weeks for the parts to show up its runs great. I got a new aftermarket dg silencer and cleaned out the exhaust pipe best I could, also bought a new uni air filter thanks for the help. Also posting a video of it idling it's on my phone though so not that good.
one thing you forget is long term UV resistance , OEM is very high ...you cant as a manufacture have sun bleached plastic after a few years..it needs to be comparable with paint

Hell yea bro! Glad you like the shirt; thank you for supporting 🤘
Thanks for all the info! Good job!
You're lucky (or not, depending on how you look at it) you even got bolt holes in your Maier plastics. My Honda 200x Maier front and rear fenders both did not come pre-drilled at all. That could be good or bad but I am VERY bad at trying to line things up and drill my own!
Amazing video ! Great job as always 👏👍

Bro this is insane u have inspired me to ride I got a Yamaha 350 Raptor
Glad I could inspire you bro! Raptor 350s are mad fun!
Yes I’m only 12 though and my throttle is all the way in I don’t even know half the power it has yet I’m in for a treat.
Thanks man!
Thanks for watching Doug. Glad to hear you were able to piece your set together for a better price man!
I love your videos keep up the good work !!!
Thank you for watching them!
Great comparison video🤘
Thank you man!
Here's a drinking game: every time Michael says something dirty, take a drink
That Tusk lift looks sweet - I might have to order one
I bought one. Changed the whole game up with my bike. I can move it all over the shop and puts all the motor components into a good working level.
Love the vids Mike! By any chance could you do a tutorial on how you painted the gas tank for the banshee?
Cringe warning... but here is the oldschool video where I paint this tank cover - ruclips.net/video/Scgnid0XgAA/видео.html
Oem banshee plastics are a must and also they have the Yamaha emblem on the front fender 💯 just a side note
Great video you are doing a great job it’s coming along
Thank you Austin!
U done the right thing oem is the way to go
As far as plastics go you are correct about UFO now only making plastic for dirt bikes.
Good info; thank you for sharing and for watching my video slane 🤘
@@MichaelSabo No problem. It's a pain finding anything with a nice new style and different color choices for classic bikes. Especially if you want to give them a fresh look to make them different and make it yours. Your videos are always worth the wait, keep up the good work. :)

Hi , I have a 93 banshee and it has an Athena 65mm original carburettor pilot 32.5 main jet 310 flaper v4, my problem is that when you get on the banshee the right pipe is colder than the other. I did the comparison and it is 150psi on both sides, but the leak depression test goes down slowly, what would be the problem,
love your channel
Thank you for supporting!
Yu Ben the goat but now yu a Hero for the banshee Community 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Haha, thank you for saying that brotha 🤘
OEM is always going to be the best by far.. it’s getting harder and harder to find OEM also

Banshee is a dream quad 1000%.
I hope you're able to build one just the way you want some day man 🤘
Granted the eBay plastics bolting holes were nowhere close, the way they packaged the plastics is why they’re so warped so bad because they probably got flattened so many times in shipping
Yea I think you're onto something there; something with the warping and it almost seems like they are slightly smaller, like they shrunk or something.
Hey Michael Sabo! I’ve been loving the videos! Any chance you would sell me those eBay plastics discounted?😂 Your channel inspired me to get a banshee last night, and I’m trying to do a budget build. Thanks for the videos man, you rock!🤘
The oem black ones are 2006 se ( purple and black) nice combination
When I bought my oem plastic Thier was no packing in the box like yours but Thier was the tissue paper on them.
Interesting; I'm glad they at least had the wrapping on them. I imagine depending on the year you order it could be different.
Would you recommend the Vito plastics? I have a 1992 I want to restore they seem to have it even the teal color.
I'll get OEM. Thanks dude!
Awesome vid and edits and filming and shop and toys and products and knowledge
@@iissaacc71 thank you for doing that man! And sounds good; good luck with the build!
Fitment is probably from shipping. Especially cramming everything in a small box and having other boxes crushing them in the semi truck
For yfz calipers you need the spindles from a a arm banshee. J arm spindles have different spacing.
@@davidfaria4293 so a arm spindles / hubs most likely also with yes calipers . does the 04 yfz rotor bolt up as well ? Or run the a arm banshee rotor?
do you think you could start 4k uploads? itd be easier filming bc the shot would always look good.
Someone else just asked the same thing lol. Its coming in the future, right now the large file size of 4K bogs down my editor and computer. Upgrades coming!
@@MichaelSabo awesome. I been watching for a long time I have a 4k monitor so the sharpness is off so mist the time I watch u on my tv
I just don’t get how aftermarket is more then OEM… aftermarket is supposed to be a cheap option to OEM.. Everyrhing is backwards nowadays anyway🤷
Hey Mike random question. Do you have a headlight mount for a 86-87 250r? I need the headlight guard lol. Random question but figure may aswell see

Hey mike have you ever done a video on a banshee transmission? Like if the gears are bad or not kinda deal?
Is there any reason you haven't started shooting the videos in 4k? Being able to see the builds in glorious 4k quality would be awesome.
What are the part numbers for the oem black banshee fender6
What size bolt is required for the front fender mounting bracket?
Hey man, do you know stuff about a 300ex?
Like would an exhaust for a crf230 or crf150 fit on said 300ex? Are the head pipes any bigger?
How much for the Yamaha dirt bike because that bike is so clean and because I have been saving up for one like that.
My maier tank guards line up decent to my oem plastics an it seems oem’s are stiffer
Hey lookin to but a 1993 kfx Mojave an it has bad compression where should start on the engine?
Buy
I would pull the head and jug and see how the piston, rings and cylinder looks. Chances are a new set of even just rings could bring in some life. While the head is off I'd also check to see if your valves are sealing. Put the head upside down on a bench and fill it with a thin oil or kerosene and see if it holds or is leaks and you'll know
Cut the front for weight reduction! 🤓 you should weight the ufo to see how much you can save!
Oh man, I'd bet a good pound! If I wasn't planning on smashing mud and puddles with this one, I'd do that!
Can you still get oem from Rocky Mountain ? Wouldn’t mind ordereing a set to stash but the link just goes to their homepage…body section when you search just has maier only

How does the blue aftermarket match up with the OEM Blue???
These maier fenders are close; I've had it next to banshees with OEM blue fenders and they're not exact, but you have to really stare to see the difference. The UFO are almost exact.
Hey so if anyone finds this comment I need some help I have a 1981 atc250r if you don't know what that is it's a
3 wheeled 2 stroke 250 machine.
