These lights use h11 bulbs I’m probably going to be switched to a nice bright white led bulb for these

Driving halo LED should be connected to auxiliary power so that it comes on when the ignition is on. This means you will have to run a power line out of a fuse box to power it.
Yes, but I did not want the halo to be on at all times when the car is running I only want it on all together which is why I wired it the way I did
Diego Arias I wonder if the halo goes dimmer when you wire it the way you do? The theory is that the ring runs bright and when you turn the driving light on, the halo ring dims down... if it works this way I will try and get a pair, my oem xenons are 8 years old and probably will fail any day now.

do you have any canbus error on the dash ?
Unfortunately it does throw a code for the headlights but it doesn’t effect them working what so ever BUT I am going to get the car coded again to turn off the error message for the headlights so it’s alright for now
Farhanians yes it does, it also illuminates when you switch OEM license plate lights for LED’s. It’s not a big deal at all and you’ll get used to it. All the light is telling you is that it recognizes that it things your lights are out. This is due to the LEDS taking such little power to operate.
Absolutely 100% correct lol like I said to him too it pops up but you kind of get used to it
Annoying, I changed my park light with LED globes and it threw a code, it’s being 12 months now, BMW guy couldn’t clear it... it’s part of the dash light now.
@@ThienTran-vq8kp you need to fit load resistors.Some led bulbs come with them fitted as did the ones fitted to my cooper for the side lights (above front fog light bulb).

Soo you have 2 options on how you can go about this man.. some people wire it to the fog light so when the fog lights are on the halos only pop up or others I’ve seen wire in a separate switch into the car to toggle just the halos.. me personally I don’t like the way the led halos look on alone in this style so that’s why I chose to wire it straight to the power of the lights
I purchased these for my R56 as well and also wanted to switch out the halogen bulbs but later realized that Spec-D used a dual H11 high/low bulb instead of the typical H13 .... if you have found a dual H/L beam bulb in H11 LED I would love to know where I can find it.
Nice man! These headlights are great but it’s true the halogens suck. The exact leds I bought are linked in the description. They’re a 6k white bright led and tbh work great. Super bright

The halogens that come with it are awful but if you switch to some nice leds then fantastic. The led ring however is pretty bright
When you set your light setting to park lights only does the led stay on?
No in my case the way I wired it, it does not you can do it that way where you can wire it to come on with the fogs when you put the parking lights on but I decided to just go the simple route and have the leds turn on and off with the headlight bulb

have a 2017 mini one f55 hard top with halogen bulbs, both headlight and fog light and daytime running lights Can you recommend LEDs?
So if I were you, I would look into just upgrading into the oem hid style lights from the F series mini.. a bit pricey but it’s a direct swap that shouldn’t give you issues. You may have to change a bit of wiring around though

Hey man, I just installed these in mine a few days ago, your vid helped with the wiring for sure lol. Have a question I thought you might be able to answer, I've already popped in some hikari LED bulbs from Amazon and I think there's some flicker, did you need extra wiring? I'm not sure if it's flicker or actually vibration shaking the housing yet.
I’m glad it helped ! And did you buy the led bulbs with the built in canbus cancelers ? Some bulbs don’t have them and tend to have a flicker issue.. the bulbs I’m running haven’t given me that issue thank god but my buddy has led bulbs without the cancelers and his flicker sometimes but it isn’t too bad
@@DArias far as I can tell they don't, just a short cable and connector after the heatsink, gonna give it a go and get a canceller, worst case can hook up hids again.
Try the cancelers out luckily I haven’t had an issue what so ever with the led bulbs ... if not hid isn’t a bad substitution

Hey man, I have a R52 2016, you know if I can change old original headlights for a new one with led?
When the halo is on is it a complete ring or is it only semi ring with the turn signal portion being off?
I have an f55 but its 2015 and it halogen headlights, no led. How much would it cost to upgrade?

Xenon headlights are different on the r56. Different wiring harness etc
Doesn’t work with cars that came with OEM bixenon because it has a different wiring harness.

Hey I know this video is old but hopefully you can help me out. I bought a pair of headlights just like yours from Spec D tuning. Do you have any issues with the light shaking or vibrations ?
Yes, with the crappy bulbs they gave you the lights tend to have like a flicker effect. Once I switched them out to LEDs it went away and now they’re good

Hey what’s up man.. so the link I have right in the description..it may throw a code for headlight or it may not.. some have told me they’ve gotten bulb out and others never got anything.. me personally I got a code but I defeated it with coding so that I wouldn’t have a fault

Absolutely does yes! High beams work with no issue.. I recommend a good led bulb as well because the halogen lights the headlights come with aren’t great haha
Do you loose the headlight washer nozzles?
These headlights only work for the oem halogen lights not for the oem hid headlights
I tried to do it like you were showing and mine light isn’t working
Make sure your crimp connector is pushed down all the way into the wire
Sometimes it’s a bit loose or not all the way and won’t make contact
I got the turn signal to work but the headlight still doesn’t.
Led white lights work not the actual headlight

Yes they work like the oem ones, same procedure and work great

You can yes, people sometimes wire the halo to the fog light switch and some others to the parking lights too.. personally idt these halos look good by themselves so I just took the easy route to wire them to the main lights instead
You can extend the wire and wire them up to the fog lights if you’d want so when the fog lights are on so are the halos etc

Imo no my buddy has his wired to his fog lights and idk it doesn’t do it for me.. maybe because it’s not a full halo ring like bmw etc .. looks a little weird tbh so I just opted for it to come on all at once again personal preference what you can do, take a drill battery pack, place the headlight in and put the green wire to the battery positive and the black to the negative and it’ll turn on the halo like in the video and stand back and see if you like the look yourself

If your r56 came with the halogen headlights from factory then yes! If it came with the oem HID headlights then unfortunately no

Does this give you an error code? If so is it a constant one or only when you turn on the high beams?? I want to upgrade my fading headlights on my 2010 Mini but i feel like that bit of slight OCD would naw at me if I upgrade and got a constant error code every time i drive haha!
Sooooo no lie I do every once in a while get a random bulb out code BUT there’s no constant warning that pops up on any display for this.. but this happens to me once in a blue moon like I’ll be sitting at a light and the bulb out light pops up but then disappears..since the leds draw so little current sometimes the car can’t detect that they’re actually working
DArias_ i appreciate the quick response, i guess its not too bad is i get an error code i can actually reset once in a blue moon. Question: would i be able to upgrade and install some HIDs using these headlights or is it standard regular bulbs type only?
Tbh to me it’s not that annoying just because with the minis it’ll pop the bulb out but then disappear when you go through your menu it’s not one of those cars that shows you a warning light for the bulbs you know? And yes you could run hides in these headlights if you wanted to with no issues

In pictures of the headlights it looks like a part of the halo ring is used for the turn signal. Is that true or do they just glow white?
The bottom part of the halo is the turn signal

Well when the halos are on, the bottom portion turn signal doesn’t light up it only does the turn signal

Hey, did you cut out the lower part of your bumper in front of the intercooler? I was thinking about doing that
I did cut out the center section yes!
Diego Arias are you able to remove the lower grill or do you have to cut it out? Just in case I want to put it back in the future
Unfortunately you have to cut it out because it’s connected to the brake ducts unless you wanna remove the entire thing and it exposes everything but I feel it looks ugly without the ducts there

07-13 as long as you don’t have the stock projector headlights you need to have the stock halogen lights for these to work

If you have the last year 2014 R58 with halogen lights then yes BUT if you have a 1st year 2014 F56 then no

That was my original plan but I actually don’t like DTRL and I turn off them off with my Carista on all my cars if it lets me which is why I just went the easy route to wire it to the power of the headlight lol

If your car has the oem hids from factory then unfortunately these are not compatible
@@DArias gotcha, do you know why these wouldn't work in place of the OEM hids?
If you have OEM bixenon, these lights won’t work because the connectors on the lights and the connector coming from the car have different pin placements in them.
very cool but led ring light should be always turned though.
You could have it where the led ring is always on while driving but my personally liking I prefer it not to be unless it’s at night time with the headlights on as wel

It should be you would just have to find a constant 12v to tap into when intention switch is on to power them. A very popular one is people running extra wire down and tapping into the fog light so they run the led ring and fog light together which also looks really nice

The green wire goes to the fuse box and connects to a positiv connection that comes from the key contact ! The LED light should lights when you start the car ! Not the lights!

Yes these are the same headlights for both. Do you have factory halogen headlights though? Or did yours come with the oem hid lights ?
“you don’t want to blind somebody” that’s literally the point of LEDs hate to break it to you but they don’t really provide that much more visibility realistically.

Realistically lol I had 2 metal tabs that hold my camera strap on and I forgot to take them off ! It does get a little annoying here and there but they are removed now from my videos now on I apologize
