    Thank you so much for showing your hooks! I'm new to crochet and it really helps to see what the experienced makers use and the differences of each.

    Nice video... I love Susan Bates hooks.. No handles fir me, as my hands are small... I like the feel of the whole hook in my hand...it warms up.. I do want to try a good bamboo hook. The Susan Bates Luxite hooks are really nice, too...

    I enjoyed your talk on crochet hooks, my favourite is clover, I hold it in the palm of the hand therefore using the wrist the clover stops the pain in the wrist

    Thanks for explaining the difference in hooks. My favorite size is Boye G/6 4.25. I would buy lighted hooks but the handle design needs improvement. For my hooks, I found that vetwrap 3M works nicely. I can pick different colors and it cushions quite well.

    You showed a nice variety of hooks. Another hook style that people may not have seen is the hook designed especially to do bullion crochet stitches.

    I'm having a problem with difference between mm hooks and the letter size hooks, can you somehow let me know are mm same as the letter hooks and how do I determine which mm hook would be the same size as a letter hook?

    • @belantww
      @belantww 7 лет назад

      Catherine Bodrie In the US, the mm size and the letter are both normally embossed on the hook. Try Googling "Crochet Hook Sizes USA" or something similar.

      Yes what is difference.
      How do mm hooks correspond with the letter hooks?

    I like natural hooks best, I'm planning on gathering up some dead mesquite sticks and carve a full set after I move. Hopefully I can find some really gnarled ones, if nothing else, would be an interesting conversation item. :)

    Great video - exactly what I needed. I think the lighted ones are exactly what's needed - are those the only ones that light up ? you're right, the handles look stupid. Have manufacturers not digits these things out yet - that ergonomics are vital (I can't believe they still make the thin version.. I thought that was what we called progress..?) So is it possible to get ALL of the important features in ONE set? CASE, ERGO HANDLE, LIGHTS..?) I will only be able to but one set and I can't afford to get frustrated because of my tools. Any help is greatly appreciated.. need all the help I can get. Thanks so very much!

    My favorite hooks are the Clover Amour's. These hooks glide through yarn like a warm knife through butter. I also have a set of Tulip Etimo hooks, same thing, smooth as ice. My preference is the Clover's but the Tulip's ran a tight second. My favorite size hook is I 9 or 5.5 mm

      I found them on Amazon.com They have set of wooden ones for around $15. They are called cro hooks and RUclips has some good videos about how to use them.

    I love my regular metal...no handle Susan Bates hooks. I always go back to them. Handles just don’t appeal to me.., Probably because my hands are child sized..

    I own some Boye hooks, but much prefer the Susan Bates hooks.. my hands are very small, so I am comfortable with the lain hooks..no handles for me.. I have absolutely no desire for the expensive Furls hooks..They are way too bug for me.

    For the absolute beginner (adult) that knows nothing crochet, what hooks/hook set would you personally recommend? Thank you in advance. Loved this video... I notice that Wal-Mart carries the Boye line of crochet hooks.

    • @belantww
      @belantww 7 лет назад +2

      Jorge Cardenas I'm not the creator of this video but am a long-time crocheter and instructor. I recommend when you are starting out that you do not spend too much money on tools. Buy one or two hooks (not necessarily a whole set) of Boye or Susan Bates hooks, which are affordable and readily available in Walmart or craft stores. I recommend that you get a size "I" and "J" hook and some Red Heart Super Saver yarn in a light color. This way, if you decide that crochet just isn't your thing, you won't have spent tons of money. The items I mentioned are also a very good starting point.
