Another Irony of the Dutch line is that historically one of their major downfalls was their lack of navel aircraft use, but in game their entire gimmick is planes

Is it? They've even put a float plane on their Admiralen class destroyers (1928) to support their patrols in the Dutch Indies, which almost nuts for a 1600 ton hull.
They've operated Catalina's and Dorniers pre WW2, for what they could get a hand on in the late '30s worldwide buildup. However, it is a fact that all-metal construction was underdeveloped in the dutch airplane companies. One of the reasons why KLM was eager to operate US build / licensed Douglas's, and US build bombers and fighters in the Dutch Indies.
The Dutch cruisers have no way to attack a submerged submarine. Wargaming has ignored this fact and left Dutch cruisers with no way to sink or damage submerged submarines!
maybe that's a balancing factor for being able to launch airstrikes, just like CV can't really attack submerged submarines
TO be fair the dutch cruiserd did not have depth charges in real live, they did have mine racks to place mine fields . somthing every dutch Cruiser /destroyer and even sloop had.
Since the Italian BBs i stopped playing short ranged lines. At high tier there are maps without island cover, so long range ships have a big advantage.
I have no idea why WG seems to love guns that can't hit. That seems to be their go-to-way to mess up everything is just make it so you miss the ocean.
I honestly loled at "just make it so you miss the ocean". Sometimes it seems they in fact do make dispersion that bad.

Those dutch cruisers are still very rare, i think i am one of the rare who played them to get the T10... but i understand why.
They are clearly not "very good" but still are "good" in my opinion, and more like "pretty bad" for someone who play them like others cruisers hugging island like you said so. I first played them like that, hiding, firing HE and was doing terrible like 10 or 20k dmg average until i found out that APs are very good !
And those bombers are hard to anticipate and need a lot of effort for a player in order to actually do damage with them...
But damn once i played T8 and T9, both AP and HE are good, but i disagree with you, i rarely saw them camping ! first because well, they are not very much played, and second because dispersion at long range is very high + bombers range is like 12or13km + arc angle is pretty low so not really suitable for island camp.
My best strategy with this line is staying with BBs and support their advance, if there is dds, i like to go around and usually i kill the dd with the good HEs, then load AP and sink other cruiser, avoid BBs when possible but use HEs if necessary. I played like that for a long time now and damn, i started from 10-20k avg dmg to around 60-90k avg dmg per game !
So yeah , i highly recommand them if you don't like camping , if you like BBs and being usefull to the team.
PS : and damn their AA with their consumable is damn good i love it

Whats weird about dutch cruisers is that they are pretty mediocre or "okay" at everything (except extremely good AA)
But in that one situation when there is a BB or some cruiser sitting still next to an island, a lucky airdrop just NUKES the shit out of them or it barely does anything.
Of course you can just avoid sitting still and hugging islands if there is a dutch cruiser on your side.
Only few people know how to land good drops on moving targets.
So as an opponent, there are many ships that feel much more scary to me.
Just returned after a 2yr break and rediscovered the Dutch cruiser line and wow i'm in love lol
They were the first line I did, I'm a new player so... They are my references when comparing with other ships and still the cruisers I feel most comfortable with.
the french is kinda close with huge guns, you can try the petro on the russian line if you like to shower after every match
One more thing - I really like the D7P, when I log into the game, I surely play 1 match with it ... hoping for a CV game ...AA rating 98 at T8 - that is actually really nice ... :-D
Alaska can still be totally devastated by perfect stacked drop of De Vitt not counting the GLion. Also i think the airdrop timer is the same for all tiers.
I generally like the the Dutch Cruisers. Reminds me of the American cruiser line. the Gouden Leeuw in particular is like a step between the Buffalo and Alaska. It's got better armor and bigger guns than the Buffalo, but less so than the Alaska, but it it's a little more nimble than the Alaska, and has better AA , better reload, lower detectability and the airstrike. You can play them similarly and usually get decent results.
I've only played them through Tier 8 but yes, you can island hide yourself, useful in those situations where you and an enemy boat are following each other around an island, you can cover the middle path on the Two Brothers map from either side group on the map, I like to use airstrike when two enemy boats run into each other ( slowed and you can hit both). their medium range is sometimes a limitation and ( mostly being a German cruiser player) in close battles you desperately miss having torps. only at tier 8 did the cooldown on airstrike seem to be low enough to be helpful, where you could actually use airstrike more than once a game- I imagine this may be better at higher tiers.
Another ironic thing about them is that the torpedo bays are actually modeled into the ships but they have no torpedoes.

I play only long range cruiser with high shell speed. And I use spotting aircaft with cap skill. Zao (22km), Hindy (23km), Nevsky (22km), Venezia (23km). In T8, T9 and T10, range rules.

Goudon Leeuw is based on a Dutch plan, WG made some weird visual changes to it, but it was a Dutch plan.
De 7 AA is amazing when you build into it. 0-4 Km is up to 800dps before AR kicks in.
Sadly about the only thing it excels at.
I am a casual player, EU server, mostly playing random matches in t7-10 in the past like 4 years - my general gaming (and life) impression taught me, that people are generally doing or trying to do things in a way, which is most favourable to them -> which means here, people are generally tend to play ships which are "good" and performing "well" ... I do not really see these dutch ships being played at all ... yes, this tech tree is quite new, but the new german BB line is newer ... AND people are playing them en masse - because the secondaries are just that damn good (ofc many people are still grinding the tech tree, I guess, so maybe we wont see them that often in a year or so) ... so my conlusion - people dont play dutch cruisers, but I like them, since I like the concept - but IMO the guns are weak, the airstrike ability is weak = so the general opinion and my experience go hand in hand at the moment -> the dutch tech tree needs a fixing, like more accurate and consistent guns, more usable airstrikes (not necessarily more overall dmg, but make it a lot more unavoidable, like halving the onset time or something) ...
When that happened with the Alaska in testing, there were 3 golden lions dropping at the same time.. the community freak out make the lube lose a drop and be underwhelming

after a shaky start, the Dutch cruisers are quite fun, from tier 8 onwards... presently on tier 9... their main armament lacks range, and quite slow reload, so you do need to island hug and use air strikes, which is fun. more fun than cvs...

I just can't understand why we never got a DD line for the Dutch, the Admiralen-Class and Gerard-Callenburgh-Class were pretty good designs altough the former was slightly outdated by start of WW2. Also I would have loved to see the actual BC 1047 design implemented into the game, aswell as a seperate CL line wich would be tier II and III ships made up of Dutch Sloops/Gunboats like the Flores/Soemba and Johan Maurits
They would have slightly lower speed, but high range, good visability and good HE. Their role would mostly be hunting Destroyers from further ranges but also be able to deal damage to Cruisers, lastly most sloops had ASW equipment added onto them in the war so they could serve that role aswell. I would have loved to see these ships in action because they feel unique to me and are my favorite Dutch ships in history, mostly the Soemba as it and it's twin have some great history.
A Carrier line would also have been fun with for example Macoma (even though it wasn't really a carrier I am sure wargaming could interperate the design of the ship) and offcourse the Karel Doorman in the higher tiers
Sadly, Gouden Leeuw unexpectedly takes significant damage even when angled against BB AP and the turtle back might save the citadel but full pens still hurt and it receives full pens often.

I dont grind them not much point. But they have a crazy brawling potential I fail to cit them broadside within 5km even with petro
With the special captain increasing fire chance they could be ok firestarters but bad dispersion and other firestarters available

I’ve had the exact opposite experience with these cruisers mind you my highest is I think tier 7 maybe eight but if you get these things in a close range they’re going to get stomped into the dirt and they don’t do enough DPM to duke it out with anybody on top of it you don’t have to repeat it was to save your ass but everybody else does so you can get to work easy if you get these things in close range because they can’t do anything fast enough to sync it before it gets into her brain
You play these cruiser like you'd play a russian CA ... You go nose in with an island to cover you from to many people spaming you with HE ... Then you sh*t on whoever tries to fight you with HE and bombs. Its only hard to play because you have to be very aware of the position you are in. The planes are not that hard to hit if you choose your targets carefully, but you have to be constantly using them to keep your DPM up.
All in all a very good line and the only thing that is breaking it from being a constant pick in the competitive scene is the absurd 60 seconds fire duration.
They can brawl well cuz the fast heal and amour
I still wish we had a realistic battle mode, where only correct nations in the game could fight each other i.e: Royal Navy and US navy Vs Kriegsmarine or Regia Marina Vs Royal Navy and French Navy. It would keep things fair (Bismarck never fought Nagato or Vladivostok for example) but still provide a challenge. I haven't even tried the Dutch Line they just confuse me 😅

Island campers? As opposed to what, boating around with destroyer armor and bb detection while expecting to not get nuked? Island camping is one of the only ways to stay alive for any amount of time in a game.

You talked a lot about the higher tier Dutch ships, but the ones at lower tiers are pretty poor in comparison to those of other nations because of their lack of torpedoes.

As someone that's been playing the cruisers a lot, I've found them to be very underwhelming.
283MM guns that dont hit that hard at all, sure it sometimes does but most of the times it doesn't.
The armor doesnt feel that great to a point I consider it a medium cruiser, not a heavy one.
However despite the fact it feels painfully mediocre to bad I still enjoy playing it, mostly.
These ships are terrible and I have not idea dafuk he is talking about. The AP and HE are both garbage all the way up the line. I rarely get fires with the HE.
@James Kelly compared to before its definitely been setting more fires, maybe demolition expert helps a lot more but I don't have that on my captain in favor of anti air.
Just gotta be honest here. Outside of the tier 10, the Dutch cruiser line is middling at best to pure trash. Only Gouden is good.
there are allot of lines like these nowdays... Vermont, C.Colombo and the 150mm german DDs comes to mind

I for some reason forgot that Elbing’s Torpedos are a thing. But, as you can see it’s just the Elbing, NC, and CV on that flank. We had the numerical advantage to take the flank and could sink their CV if we pushed. So I pushed. Like I said I completely drew a blank on the Elbing’s torp reload, but the push itself is very much warranted imo.
Problem with the Dutch cruisers is that other ships are simply better alternatives. Want a good battlecruiser experience? Alaska at T9 and Petro in T10 can do that much better than the GLion
Why? Because no amount of gimmicks in the world can ever replace consistent, reliable and accurate guns
Let's not forget Stalingrad, Konstadt, Pay 2 Rico to name a few more.
I disliked this line so much that I deleted them all, including the useless dockyard ship. 🤨

Stoped on Harlem. Take too much damage from any BB, guns are fucking mediocre, AP is a complete joke. I think I'll sell those ships, since I'm having much more fun on asian cruisers.

I'm very disappointed by the Groningen in that: WoW hasn't yet set them up so that they can participate in acquiring stars for your clan within Naval Battles! I've written their "so called" customer support and they replied: When they get Netherland DDs from tier 1 thru tier10 then they will allow Groningen to play in Naval battles. So... what about submarines? they do not have a line from tier 1 thru 10 and yet there they are acquiring stars in Naval battles. How long has Groningen been in the game? I was also informed that Groningen isn't the only premium ship that isn't provided the opportunity to participate in Naval Battles (that was also used as an excuse lol). Don't open your wallets to them just yet, they are still playing their lies and deception games in trying to convince you that they have changed their ways. THEY HAVE NOT!!!!! The box is already there (in Naval Battles), and they won't spend the 10 minutes to simply actuate it but instead want us to wait "for months" for them to "get around to it". I asked for a date as to when this would happen, they as per their typical actions didn't even answer my question but instead went off subject with Blaa Blaa Blaa. These are premium ships (for dollars), they don't care! dollars in hand and then "you're crap" in their minds. FYI I "earned" mine using free XP. "Close your wallets people"

Extremely underpowered no range long burn time but a small repair party no torps (torps would be historical on 5-7) in general they feel like support ships at the higher tiers the simple solution is to ditch the useless airstrike on 5-7 and replace it with tops and 2 more guns on tier 6 and for higher tiers give them proper range and a short burn time
You might as well play CVs, honestly.

@@icynrvna Theres a difference between “clickbaiting” and having an enticing title. Clickbaiting gets you to view content that is completely false/misleading from the title. Such as the “OMG GTA VI LEAKED (I HAVE THE COPY)” videos. An enticing title, while it does exclude EXACTLY what’s in the video, is backed up by actual content. If you want to know exactly what any of my videos with these titles are about, just look at the description. Or look at the ship in the thumbnail, both are always going to line up with whatever subject we’re talking about. Now, the reason I do this is pretty simple. The algorithm smiles upon it. I very much like for the videos I work on to do well. Simple titles seem to just not do that anymore. I wish it were different.
