- Finally we have an update to the SPS Show Tank here at Tidal Gardens. It has been a bumpy road for the past couple of years for this tank BUT it is probably the best it has ever looked right now. This is due in part to overcoming 3 major issues and 1 minor one.

big facts
I really enjoyed this update. Thank you for taking the time to film this and share your experience and lessons you've learned along the way.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looooove these after hours videos
I would have never thought pollen would be a factor but makes sense.
Your camera work is top notch. I love the presentation
Glad you enjoy it!
Love the update videos. This tank has really progressed
I had no idea you, or anyone for that matter, were using harvested rain water for a saltwater setup. Very cool and glad to hear you got the issues resolved. Tank is looking great, looking forward to seeing it more grown in!
I don't know of anyone else that does. I just wanted to do it.
@@tidalgardens It's a great idea, though clearly not without it's pitfalls. Good of you for doing it!
WOW I have been out of the game for a couple years, but I bought some corals from you a long time ago. It's awesome to see this tank today! I had my reef tank around the time you just started building the skeleton for this thing. Congratulations on overcoming all that adversity!
Welcome back!
haha been waiting for a over year for an update on the tank
you da man, Than!
can you do a detailed video of the trace elements , which things were consumed the most ?
Looking forward to the next after hours! Looking to color up my sps with some traces too
those t slot stands with castors are such a vibe, i've stolen your idea for my next tank. p.s love the suit!
I added leveling casters to my stand because of his videos.
Leveling casters are so nice. I put them on almost everything now.
Great information and great job
Acros need Iodine and many other to do well. My tank grows acros like weeds now that I follow the ICP test and make corrections to trace elements. Bacteria dosing with very low PO4 and Nitrates help acros a lot, IMO.
Funny you say kung pao and JF vino montis. I have both next to each other on tiles and they looked like crap for a while. After an ICP i saw that I had low potassium 340ppm. I bumped it up to 400 with no other changes and they looked beautiful again in only like 2 weeks or so. I confirmed these ICP readings with the Salifert potassium kit. Easy enough to maintain without going down the wormhole.
Amazing strides! Great to hear! And interesting info on the rain water treatment. Sounds like it invovles same things that big water treatment plants do. I assume this is to be self sufficient, versus relying on the tap water RO/DI filtered water.
The company that designed and installed the unit does municipal waste water treatment systems in addition to other offerings.
great video Than, thanks for sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly too. What is the nutrient level in that tank? thank you
This tank is low nutrient. 10ppm nitrate and .02 phosphate.
Recently I was wondering when you’ll do a SPS show tank update. I was curious how are the things doing in there. Thanks
Does Carbon and Zeolites help for copper removal ? I'm going through a Copper / heavy metal issue...
Don't know about that. We used polyfilter, metasorb, and cuprisorb.
Who made those tanks...?
We have custom tanks from 4 manufacturers, Reef Savvy, Miracles Aquarium, Exotic Aquariums, and Ocean Life Aquariums.
Water parameters?
What trace do you use
Right this second we are using Captiv8 and Aquavitro Fuel
How big is this tank? What are the dimensions?
600g. 126" x 48" x 24"
can u spoil what u give to ur fish sir ? it was so fattt
Mainly mysis shrimp and nori, but that tank also has a lot of algae growing that they pick at all day.
@@tidalgardens oh thanks for sharing. In my tank, i have pellet based on shrimp.. For 4 months, my tang so skinny, i see his pup is so big, its not his diet, its 180° from my chromis .
