By far the most intuitive problem solving video I’ve ever seen! Great job Ralph
Wow, thanks! Glad you liked it!
@@ralpheglass 0:49
Have you posted a side view of where you placed these?
I did yes, in order you could change tires, windshield, Aeroflow’wings’, then winglets last
A video on the install of the wings would be great. We can not see the wings at all in this video.
Working on it!!!
Nice work Ralph! I almost traded in my 2018 GTL for a new Grand America, until I demo'd it on the highway, and found out how squirrely it was. Canceled my deposit, and kept my GTL.
Thanks for the kind words!!! I did make an inaccurate statement about an equation circumference = 2{3.14)Radius
Thanks for the review. I was aware of the first two and plan to add them soon. With the winglets, I can’t see those at all on the video. Would you be able to supply closeups and product links?
Good Video, I was thinking about getting a 1600B probably not the GA but I'll keep this in mind when I go to look at the one I want.
Thanks for the kind words
Glad you fixed your aero problem.
Thanks for stopping by!!!
Looks good. I have a 19 1600 B and I get the wiggles as well. Please do a walk around so that we can see exactly how your bike look with the aero pieces so that we can enjoy your modifications on our bikes.
Thank you for your work. Much appreciated.
Will do soon, just read your comments this morning! Thanks for your kind words RG
@@ralpheglass hey this was a great video i like every else need that build list i have the midnight 1600b 2023 i come from a go fast family and the wobble just aint it also could u send pics of the side screens thanks keep up good work brotha
@@derricksmith2833 hey Derrick I’ve got several videos that cover what your looking for on the channel. If not you can email me your phone number and I can give you a call. Thank you very much RG
My old ‘batwing’ fairing on my 2012 Limited is dead stable at well over 100. I guess old tested designs still work. I wanted to buy a 1600B, but because they limited that glorious power plant to 105 changed my mind.
Circumference of a circle is NOT 2 * pi * r^2. That is the AREA of a circle. The circumference is Pi * D.
C=2πr. I had added to comments after I watched it. Great observation! RG
I just posted the review of the bike on my channel. I am 290 myself and I always wondered if it had to do with rider weight as some people don't have an issue at all. I wonder if making a 1" spacer for the rear shock to raise the rear up a bit would solve it too. I've hit my breaking point with the 'wobble' this bike has. Nice to hear someone truly has a fix. I have a 23 K1600B model myself.
Hey!!! Don’t fret!!! Start with the tires, windshield , Aeroflow wings then only if you need them winglets. If you would like additional info email me at 413 glass@gmail.com. RG
By the way just watched your video and left a few comments. Nice job! RG
@@ralpheglass Thanks, I have and want to do the winglets, but I also don't want to ruin my option 719 fairings with the special paint.
If you plan to keep a bike in this class after the warranty time is ended then the only option is a goldwing
I’m not old enough for a goldwing!!! Maybe a rocket 3?
Very informative and encouraging. Thx. Can you please provide links to where you've purchased the add-ons as well as a clear image of the winglets installed? That would be very helpful.
For more info on all links they’re in the comments and there is a video on winglets installation on the channel.
Thanks for making this video and explaining everything so well, i love my 22GA but I have been experiencing the wobble around 70 on the highway and did not like it at all… I will get and install the winglets on Wednesday… I saw the windshield and will order it from jurock but where I can get the side deflectors?
The winglets should probably be the last change but they do look interesting…
Hi, thanks for the simple explanation of how you fixed the "floating feel" on the front end of your bike. I have a 2019 K1600B Grand America and love riding the bike, except for the floating feel on the front of the bike when riding at highway speeds in South Africa. I reached the point where I put the bike up for sale and the guy who bought it a few days ago complained after he arrived home about the front end being damaged because of how it felt in strong windy conditions on his way home. I offered to refund his money and he returned the bike the following day. I emphasised that it was a common issue with all Grand Americas and not just my bike. I am glad to have it back but would like to implement some of the changes that you made to your bike to give it a stable ride. Looking forward to you reply and advice. Best wishes, Marc.
Hey Mark!!! 413glass@gmail.com order of changes that I made, not just aero, 1. Tires Michelin road 6GT’s 2. Windshield 7jrock ‘B’ style 3. Aeroflow’wings 4. Winglets
1. Tires original battlecrap must go! Michelin road 6GT’s 2. Windshield recommend 7jrock ‘B’ style 3. Aeroflow ‘wings’ for lateral stability 4. Winglets
Hi Ralph
Thanks for the reply. I'll see how far I get with making some of your suggested changes to my bike while I still have it.
Best wishes
Marc
Marc, just added a winglets video!!!
Someone asked me about tires. This video is all about Aerodynamics. But I also did change the tires at about 3000 miles because the original battlcrap tires sucked! I use only Michelin tires on the big bikes and the k1600ga is on its second set of
road pro 6 GT’s
I have the 2018 GA and I'm very familiar of said "wobbles." I have bought the 7-Jurok windscreen, but I wasn't aware of the winglets and/or Aero wings. Can you please share more of this information with me about making my bike more stable?
Please send me an email with your number and I’ll give you call when I can. Thanks RG
Just added winglets video!!!
Very interesting information, mostly related to the winglets you talked about. I currently have a 2023 GA and previously had a 2018. I have both the Aerowings and 7Jurock windscreen and experience the same issues you had. I don't have the technical knowledge dealing with the winglets you added on and would be interested in hearing from you what you purchased from Amazon and the exact location they were placed. If you had a picture of the placement and the details of the winglets that would be wonderful.
I’d be happy too.
Send me a phone number to 413glass@gmail.com and I’ll call for more information. This goes for everyone not just Terry.
I made video on the winglets
Thank you.
Links for the accessories you recommend would be appreciated. Thanks for the informative video; I’m contemplating a GA and wasn’t even aware of this issue until I started digging.
I am from Ireland and have ordered the winglets. Would it be possible to post a photo of where you located the winglets and at what angle, please? Or maybe a short video as I cannot get a good view of them from your original video clip. Thank you.
I’m working on it
@@ralpheglass Many thanks!! The wingless arrived in the post yesterday.
Just posted a video on installation. Let me know if it’s helpful!!!
Thans for the master class!..now I have enoght reasons for dont buy this bike .
I'm 6'2" have 2019 BGA never had a problem with wobble or air flow. Have bike well tuned. Been 155mph 2 up, perfect, but we don't were helmets much?
That’s good news Alex! I do recommend the helmets!! But hey! That’s your choice!!!
I get how the winglets create stabilizing downforce. What I don't understand is what eliminated the left pull. I've tried multiple K16's over the years, and they all pulled left pretty heavily. I would love to have a K16 again, but only if I *know* exactly how to fix the left pull. Thanks!
Windshield Aeroflow wings and tires then winglets as a last addition if you need them
What are the parts that you added and where were they purchased from. 7 Jurock makes a number of windshields so I am not certain which one you are using. Thanks
7jRock Model B 22”, Aeroflow aerowings, Amazon winglets (watch installation video), Michelin road6 GT’s
thanks for the info!
hey, this is a classic example of what do you do after you spend around $30,000 on something and realize it has a major problem? you fix it, you just fix it, what else are you gonna do? Sell it to somebody for a major percentage loss? negative, just fix it. But it's good to know because I was considering this motorcycle as a replacement for my Harley Davidson ultra Limited, which has had its fair share problems over the last 50,000 miles and I'm definitely not going to even bother looking at this Motorcycle at this point.
I bought 18 GA, new and one of the issues was the wobble. I would not dare to ride between 2 heavy construction trucks. Also, bike was always steer a bit to the left. I wanted to love this bike and just had enough and sold it. BMW disappointed me after spending heavy on this bike. Luckily, someone really wanted mine and I lost very little on it. Went and got a new Goldwing Tour. I am sorry for not buying the wing sooner. Boy, an amazing machine to own. before anyone buys one, PLEASE try the GW Tour DCT or manual.
I’m not saying buyer beware of the grand America, just always be the best informed consumer possible. GW’s nice bikes for sure, but most of my bikes are black and Honda’s black is a little too 1970’s for me, also I prefer a quicker bike for my number 1.
@@ralpheglass Amen and ride safe.

how did you find the winglets on amazon, i have been looking and do not find them!
Hey, search motorcycle winglets on Amazon App they cost about 30.00. Still can’t find them please email me 413glass@glass.com
Hi i'm from the Netherlands. Nice video, I have a k1600B 2022 myself and i'm also struggling with the high speed instability. I already changed the windscreen for the vented Wunderlich version, but that did not make much of an improvements. Tires will be changed to Michelin Road 6 GT next week, because they are complete worn after 8500km. Which of the changes you made had the biggest impact on the instability improvements? Could you send me some pictures how you have mounted the winglets on the side of the bike.
thanks,
Twan
Hey Twan I’m actually working on a video right now explaining that. Sorry about your windshield, 7jrock was the best choice for me. Order of changes that I recommend 1. Tires 2. Windshield 3. Aeroflow wings 4. Winglets.
Winglets video is now up!!!
I have owned my K1600B for 3 years and have never experienced any instability even at 120mph plus. Fitted with footboards.
That’s wonderful news
That is because you don't have a huge trunk on the back
Interesting. I'm on a GTL and had experienced some instability at highway speeds. I switched the windscreen to the GT version (smaller) and it went away completely. I like the GT windscreen better overall, it's shaped differently and I can easily see over it, and I get much better airflow at lower speeds in hot weather.
I would like to know the MFR of those winglets if you see this comment.
Order through Amazon App ‘motorcycle winglets’ around $30.00
@@ralpheglass Thank you for the reply! I might check them out, but I have a hard time believing the double sided tape would hold up under bad highway conditions (cross winds, truck wash, etc.).
@@OneDown5Up they don’t and I never said it does. Must bolt on!
I want to know where to mount the winglet’s. Your video doesn’t really show me.
I’m working on video that should be more helpful on where to place them

@@ralpheglass have had goldwings and had a gtl like the looks of the B better. At 6'5 350 I tend to go for bigger bikes
Who or what is “Arrow”? 🤦🏻♂️
Hey user, two things one is a fairing product from a company called AeroFlow, the other is for aerodynamics of the K1600GA.
BMW is going to totally ignore you. Every manufacturer would totally ignore you on a safety problem. If they were to take your fix and implement it, they would have to retrofit every one of these bikes that they've sold, and that is just not gonna happen because they've told the consumers it's unsafe to write over 81 miles an hour with passenger and they speed limited to the 105 at the top end there you go problem solved no more money out of their pocket.

I dislike this video and it's content. You said you did "all the calculations" then right after stated "you didn't have the exact numbers". That doesn't make any sense. Why would BMW take your advice?
The exact numbers needed are measurements that are not published so my measurements are made from an assembled motorcycle (s) not an empty chassis attached to an alignment jig. A formula you can use for AOA calculations would be. ‘2{3.1419)R divided by 360’ . I do enjoy your comments and for a little more information this video has been viewed many times in Germany. If more contact is wanted please email me at 413glass@gmail.com thanks for your observations, RG
The front fairing on all four K1600 models is exactly the same. Therefore, your "aero" explanation makes no sense. If your explanation was accurate, ALL four models would exhibit the same wobble and instability, and would require the same fix, which they do not.
I explained the change in angle of attack on b and GA’s with a positive aoa the fairings start to create lift. That only applies to B’s and GA’s
Just buy a GTL. Problem solved.
No thanks!!
Too tall for me, Im only 5’6”.
Lets fix these bikes intead.
agreed, buying a new something that has to be fixed is a no go
