When they performed this song, so emotionally and beautifully, during a costume break of hers, it had a deep meaning to them. I'm very sure, about it. Marko has left sadly, they've got a replacement for the upcoming tour who is a great bassist but won't be doing the vocal parts. At least we have all these great songs to enjoy, you should check out The Islander (live at Tampere), another one he sings the lead.
I m really happy that you finally reviewed this master piece and you liked it. When you talked about marco's voice last time, i guessed that i had to recommend this one and i think i was not wrong :D
at this level, it's not a cover, it's a tribute. and what a voice !!!! Try Nightwish "devil and the deep dark ocean - live in bueno aeres" or from the same live: "dead boy poem" ;). Don't look other reactions, stay you. Technics is only here for deserve emotions of the song.
"Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light." -Dylan Thomas That is what I get from Marco's voice. Aggressive yearning to something that can never be felt again, wonder of youth, as river of time carries you closer to your end.
After watching several hundred reactions to this performance we agree yours touched us the most. Like you we are as fanatical for Pink Floyd as we are for Nightwish, and like you, for different reasons. I'm glad others pointed out this was intended by NW to be a tribute to Pink Floyd and David Gilmore, not a cover. Both bands did it in their own style and both killed their performances. Wonderful reaction and analysis. We loved watching your facial expressions from beginning to end and completely understand your emotional investment. Hi there. I've never been first before, pretty exciting....for a second or two. Anyway this is from End Of An Era. 2 hours after this show the band publicly fired Tarja, their first singer. They only played this cover a few times and it was definitely(in my opinion) aimed at Tarja, I don't think they ever played it again.
@@PandoraPlaysMusic she didn't connect with the band anymore. She was more interested in her solo career and money. So it was said anyway. There is an "Open letter to Tarja" that you can find on the internet where the band explains how they feel about everything.
@@AndyMagnusson70 Tell me that the lyrics to High Hopes don't apply. Perhaps I stated it wrong, maybe they played the song for a catharsis. But I don't believe it was coincidence that they chose this particular song to cover.

Hi, this song is one of my favorite NW songs. I have listened that tens of times and always it's just so good. What you said in the begining about the lyrics of Pink Floyd songs, the same goes with NW lyrics too. They are sometimes poetic, meaningful, they make you think and sometimes you have to listen the song a couple of times to really get into them. As Tuomas has said every song has a story behind it. These two versions I wouldn't compare with each other. The Nightwish version is a different song based on a Pink Floyd song. They are from the different eras, played with different style and so on. Still they both are great songs. If you'd like to find out more about NW songwriting and composing, you might like these videos. NIGHTWISH - Making of new album 2015; Episode 1: The Cabin (OFFICIAL TRAILER) - ruclips.net/video/BB1IrA8FwrY/видео.html. There are 21 episodes all together. Those episodes give you a nice setup, how everything is put together. Thanks for your reaction, it was nice to hear your ideas of this song. By the way I'm ok, not freezing this morning. Only -5 and waiting the snowfall to come. See you.
This is a mistake of many Nightwish fans, they usually talk about Nightwish having 3 singers so far. No, there were and are 4 singers, Tarja, Anette, Marco and Floor. When Tarja had to leave, Marco took over the frontpart in Nightwish before Anette came.
Hi i have some bands for a change so now and then. Please check tem out, Sabaton with Christmas Truce, Evergrey with In Orbit, Northward with While love died. In all those songs Floor is featuring.
Brilliant reaction to a brilliant song! 👍🏻🙂 Country singer Cody Jinks (who is also amazing btw) does an outstanding cover of “Wish You Were Here”. Just sayin… 🙂 since you were interested in really good Pink Floyd covers. You will love the steel guitar in his cover. Very haunting and beautiful.
Yup! Gilmour is a God, Marko is one of a kind whole-package-deal, Pink Floyd and Nightwish in one is simply too much goodness... we're not worthy. I'm subscribing.
In my opinion, Nightwish/Marko "Disturbed" the hell out of this song. As an old school PF fan, I was dismissive of High Hopes/Division Bell back when it was released. NW's tribute is impossible to dismiss. Thanks PP!
Not really a cover. More of a tribute. An homage. Nightwish is outstanding. Who else could have done it justice? It takes an extraordinary band to match the tone given by Pink Floyd. And Marko.....damn. Insane talent.
After this Show, they fired Tarja. The open Letter is written. And here nobody smile (Emppu). This Tribute to Pink Floyd is full of Sadness, and in the same time of Angry.(Marko) 🤘
Poor Jukka with a migraine. Hence Tuomas with the little head nod to Emppu to go check on him. Then Emppu jumps off the riser for the solo. I like this better than the PF version I have to say. I love a good reworking of a song
@@mitchthepower yeah that's true. I've been a Follower of Pink Floyd's all thru my life. Since Meddle in 71 or 72. In fact Floyd is my Favorite Band followed by Band Maid
Finally you are back to Nightwish :D Tuomas (mr Nightwish on the keyboards) didn't just make a cover of this because he "found it", He always have thoughts behind his songs, and in this case his arrengement of the Tribute to Pink Floyd, after this concert their original singer Tarja Turunen got booted (long story) but she didn't know it during this concert but the rest of the bandmembers dit... "Spookee..." So the song has a real mening in the light of the fact that Open Letter to Tarja was already written, (perhaps Tarja had "High Hopes"? ;) ) and if you want more info about this? there is a lot in the community regarding this.
Just to clarify, Tarja didn't know that she was going to get booted so abruptly, but she did know that this was probably going to be her last concert with the band. She herself told them that she would record one more album with them, but would not do any concerts after the new album was released. So in that context, she knew that this was her "goodbye" performance for the fans of Nightwish.
Hi Pandora I totally agree about your reaction you either GET GILMOUR OR YOU DON'T he's always been a trailblazer IMO LOL. BUT how GOOD is MARCO as a tribute you couldn't get better.
NIGHTWISH AND MEGADETH?? 🔥 MARCO SINGING HEAVY SOLO? 🤘🏻 My suggestion is another cover of them, which we HARDLY see on RUclips. And if you like a HEAVY Nightwish sound, this will be a very nice one! 🔥🤘🏻😎 Marco is singing solo on this one. Check out their cover of Megadeth, symphony of destruction. AND A HEAVY SIREN FLOOR & MARCO? The second also hardly on RUclips, is a heavy Siren, The Siren performed live of course by Floor Jansen, and also again a very good singing Marco🔥❤️🤘🏻 Enjoy it, and I with you!
I love NW! I love them since 1997! But i hate that Marco leave the band! I hate that sooo much!!! I wish him only the best, but after all what happend, Tarja (had to) leave the band, that the 1st drummer Jukka got ill and leave the band, how long they searched for a singer like Floor and so on, after all that happend and much more we don't know i would never have thought that Marco also would do this to the band and his friends.
That is the song that makes Marko Hietala shine . High Hopes from Pink Floyd . Better and more rocking version than the original song ... Be sure that song was Tuoma's choice , cause he is a crazy fan of Pink Floyd ... Marko did the miracle! I love the band too like Tuomas does but I prefer that version for this song . It's sublime . Emppu here he' s showing his class as a lead guitarist ! Thank you Marko for that performance ... was men 's theme ! I ' m really sad when I see Jukka Nevalainen behind drums , I can't believe that is not in the band any more ... but Marko the same is absent now from the band and I love them both ... Too pitty ... what can I say !
@@PandoraPlaysMusic Jukka , the pirate, was the original drummer of the band for lots of years ... At 2015 , before they make their new album officially with Floor Jansen as leader in vocals , Jukka had issues with bad forms of insomnia . And quit from the band , but before that , he brought his friend to the band who now is the new drummer of the band , Kai Hahto from Wintersun ... Very professional drummer too... That album was Endless forms most Beautiful, 25 of March 2015. The performance here is from End of Era concert 2005 the last concert with Tarja Turunen as a lead vocalist , the original first queen , then they had Annette Olzon until 2013 , and unofficially Floor Jansen at Wacken open concert 2013 and then Floor officially is the leader vocalist of the band with the previous album that I have said about . 3 eras , 3 queens 1 band , 1 legit history to be listen to! If you want to see the knew drummer at work if you didn't do search of 7 days to the wolves , and Poet and the Pendulum , live Wembley Arena concert 2016 . Two songs that will make you love Kai Hahto , he's a machine!
Well , i have still hope that Marco may be come back to Nightwish , because he left not because of Tensions between Band Members . It was because of some issues in the Background because of the Label , the share of Money the Band got , the share he got and he wanted more Time for himself and his Family . There is a shift away from optical media ( CD ) to online streaming ( MP4 ) since a long Time , resulting in less money for the artists and Labels and more for the online Plattforms .

Show (Tania Mandarino), thinking its performed in England...Cheers
The Gitarr players Name is Empu Vuirinen
Marko has left sadly, they've got a replacement for the upcoming tour who is a great bassist but won't be doing the vocal parts.
At least we have all these great songs to enjoy, you should check out The Islander (live at Tampere), another one he sings the lead.
I m really happy that you finally reviewed this master piece and you liked it. When you talked about marco's voice last time, i guessed that i had to recommend this one and i think i was not wrong :D
It was amazing, thank you so much!
@@PandoraPlaysMusic I just found another gorgeous song that may interest you with marco again :
ruclips.net/video/Zo8ncK_5kzc/видео.html
Great reaction, interesting explanation!
It's really crazy to think that this band could realistically be an international success even without their lead singer.
You are absolutely wonderful... the reaction was nice too 😁
Hi from Florida
❤️
@@PandoraPlaysMusic ❤🥰😁
A great song elevated into a different direction but the song lends itself to interpretation...
at this level, it's not a cover, it's a tribute. and what a voice !!!! Try Nightwish "devil and the deep dark ocean - live in bueno aeres" or from the same live: "dead boy poem" ;).
Don't look other reactions, stay you. Technics is only here for deserve emotions of the song.
Merci! ❤️
@@PandoraPlaysMusic you speak french ????? (yes i'm french, south of France).
Love Nightwish! Definetly in my top 5 artists. Another top 5 for me is Aurora. Please react to Aurora- Heathens (live VEVO)
"Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light." -Dylan Thomas
That is what I get from Marco's voice. Aggressive yearning to something that can never be felt again, wonder of youth, as river of time carries you closer to your end.
That is one of my favourites. And also the one about the road less travelled by Frost.
We'd like to recommend our favorite NW performance and would love to watch your reaction to it. It is "7 Days to the Wolves" from their concert at Wembley in 2015. We hope you will react to it. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/XvsfwAPbWXc/видео.html Stay safe and enjoy your summer down under from a couple of senior citizens in Arizona, USA.
Nice of you to read out Gilmours meaning of the song beforehand.
❤️
Had a good day. Had a few foot problems recently, but did a successful 15km run this morning. You asked about our day, so this happened. :-) #oldmanrunning #kiwi
Oh wow 15km run! Can I even walk that?!lol
Marco WILL return to NW..... The universe demands it.
How sad! Why did they fire her?
@@PandoraPlaysMusic she didn't connect with the band anymore. She was more interested in her solo career and money. So it was said anyway. There is an "Open letter to Tarja" that you can find on the internet where the band explains how they feel about everything.
Aimed at Tarja? She made costume changes during this song.
@@AndyMagnusson70 Tell me that the lyrics to High Hopes don't apply. Perhaps I stated it wrong, maybe they played the song for a catharsis. But I don't believe it was coincidence that they chose this particular song to cover.
@@PandoraPlaysMusic I just simply describe it as a divorce for irreconcilable differences. Both sides had points, so....
BEST. BOY. BAND. EVER. FACT. 🔥
Hi Pandora, i love to see your reaction videos of Nightwish. For me they are the best band in the world 😍 I also have another recommendation for you. If you like surprises, then try this masterpiece of our Dutch genius Arjen Anthony Lucassen with 11 awesome singers (I won't spoil who they are, but i think you will recognize some of them 😉): Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down. Here is the link to the video: ruclips.net/video/oFuMKdrzPqU/видео.html
You will be blown away by all the talented musicians and singers! You won't be dissappointed....I PROMISE! Hope to see your reaction to this masterpiece soon and for now....Greetings, stay safe and lots of love from The Netherlands, Martin
The guy with the guitar is Emppu the guitar wizard 🤘
He's so cool 😎!
Hi i have some bands for a change so now and then. Please check tem out, Sabaton with Christmas Truce, Evergrey with In Orbit, Northward with While love died. In all those songs Floor is featuring.
To copy Pink Floyd would be insanity ...Nightwish made it their own ..A fantastic Tribute to a legendary band
I agree!
Brilliant reaction to a brilliant song! 👍🏻🙂
Country singer Cody Jinks (who is also amazing btw) does an outstanding cover of “Wish You Were Here”. Just sayin… 🙂 since you were interested in really good Pink Floyd covers. You will love the steel guitar in his cover. Very haunting and beautiful.
I'm going to have to look that up! Thank you! ❤️
Thanks PP!
THE ULTIMATE MODERN ROCK EDITION EVER. DEDICATED TO PINK FLOID
You are awesome
❤️
Poor Jukka with a migraine. Hence Tuomas with the little head nod to Emppu to go check on him. Then Emppu jumps off the riser for the solo.
I like this better than the PF version I have to say. I love a good reworking of a song
I agree, it was amazing!
Nothing Better than the original.if you haven't heard the original you should give it a Listen. but this version isn't bad
For me it's the other way round. But I can understand if you love the original, then nothing can surpass it for you. :-)
@@mitchthepower yeah that's true. I've been a Follower of Pink Floyd's all thru my life. Since Meddle in 71 or 72. In fact Floyd is my Favorite Band followed by Band Maid
Finally you are back to Nightwish :D
Tuomas (mr Nightwish on the keyboards) didn't just make a cover of this because he "found it", He always have thoughts behind his songs, and in this case his arrengement of the Tribute to Pink Floyd, after this concert their original singer Tarja Turunen got booted (long story) but she didn't know it during this concert but the rest of the bandmembers dit... "Spookee..."
So the song has a real mening in the light of the fact that Open Letter to Tarja was already written, (perhaps Tarja had "High Hopes"? ;) ) and if you want more info about this? there is a lot in the community regarding this.
Yes, the letter gives incredible meaning to the choice of the song: so heartbreaking for them all 💔
Just to clarify, Tarja didn't know that she was going to get booted so abruptly, but she did know that this was probably going to be her last concert with the band. She herself told them that she would record one more album with them, but would not do any concerts after the new album was released. So in that context, she knew that this was her "goodbye" performance for the fans of Nightwish.
You said you want to hear Pink Floyd covers-have a listen to Mossiaes-Another Brick in the Wall.....acoustic
🔥❤️
Hi Pandora I totally agree about your reaction you either GET GILMOUR OR YOU DON'T he's always been a trailblazer IMO LOL.
BUT how GOOD is MARCO as a tribute you couldn't get better.
NIGHTWISH AND MEGADETH?? 🔥
MARCO SINGING HEAVY SOLO? 🤘🏻
My suggestion is another cover of them, which we HARDLY see on RUclips.
And if you like a HEAVY Nightwish sound,
this will be a very nice one! 🔥🤘🏻😎
Marco is singing solo on this one.
Check out their cover of Megadeth, symphony of destruction.
AND A HEAVY SIREN FLOOR & MARCO?
The second also hardly on RUclips, is a heavy Siren, The Siren performed live of course by Floor Jansen, and also again a very good singing Marco🔥❤️🤘🏻
Enjoy it, and I with you!
Please reaction xandria - nightfall / valentine 🙏🙏🙏
😊🇫🇮❤️🤘🎶🎹🎸🥁✨👍
I didn't realize that Jukka had left!
You're right, maybe he will come back!
🤟🇫🇮😎👍
What about a female fronted band from Germany wich has stylistic influences from Korn, Slipknot and In This Moment?
-> Null Positiv
Their highly charismatic, energetic and powerful singer Elli Berlin has a large range from clean over harsh vocals up (or better down) to growls. Her voice is really unique in a very positive way.
A band that is definitely worth to be reacted to
The song "Independenz" is a very good song to experience the range of singer Elli Berlin:

I love their power ballad „Wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer“ (incl. English caption) which such an intense atmosphere. Ellis voice and charisma is just awesome:

Anther good start to get to know them is also „Freiheit“ (Freedom), which has English subtitles:

Their song „Friss Dich auf“ is pure heaviness and has a creepy video:

Hass” (Hate“ Yes, it is as heavy as you can guess by the title)

I never noticed it before, but is that a French-Canadian accent I detect?
Ouiii!
@@PandoraPlaysMusic Ah ben, ah ben, ah ben :)
I Here Nightwish for over 15 years i have never see that Empu makes a big Show from his Gitarr Solos the ride Feet on the Monitor the Gitarr on his Knie and he play his Solos minimalistic and with absolut Style
I have to admit, your "enjoyment" was very distracting (good for you). Your distraction was my enjoyment. 😉
Besides that, Pink Floyd is one of my all time favs.
Keep the distractions coming!
Btw. If you want to hear a Pink Floyd-like band and if you wanna hear/see a very young (some 22 years ago) Troy Donockley (Nightwish) on flute and pipes, then react to MOSTLY AUTUMN (Pink Floyd like sound) with a song called "The Night Sky" : ruclips.net/video/nPFWFe6e4ZY/видео.html
High Hopes on steroids.
Can you react to Tarja's version of the song "Ghost Love Score"? It's from End of an Era DVD. Tarja's voice put this song to an another dimension, you will like it.
Definitely want to listen to it, thank you!:)
If Gilmore is a god. What is Roger Waters then ?
Can he be a Good too?! ;)
🇬🇧 Norfolk division strapped in and ready to go.
Marco was their second bass player people forget that and Jukka can play it’s just the personality we will miss but wish him well
