    This dog feeder is awesome. I enjoyed watching you problem solve during the build. Sometimes, it's try, fail and adjust isn't it?

      Thanks so much! And absolutely! There's only so much you can plan on a computer... then you add dog biscuits to the mix and it's chaotic 😂 I lost SO much time testing and testing different variables, but thoroughly enjoyed winning in the end!

    This is unreal 🤣🤣🤣 A proper Gourmet Buffet station for Dogs .. Hand ringing the bell too 🤣 I wanna train George to ring a bell for the toilet cos he will just sit at the back door and not bark or anything lol I love this project so much 😍❤️🙌

      Haha... have you seen those dangly bells on a strap to hang on your door handle? The one in this video came with it as a deal on Amazon. Hans has now learnt how to nudge the bells (on the handle) just to get attention, but it might be worth a shot with George.

    There's a huge amount of on-the-hoof engineering here. I love a project that grows and grows until it does the job. Great problem solving at a break neck speed. Had to pause and go back a couple of times to keep pace. Brilliant final feeder station but I feel exhausted!

    • @TheCarpentersDaughterUK
      @TheCarpentersDaughterUK  2 года назад

      Sorry, I had your head spinning...although never considered myself as an engineer, which is nice 😂
      I still have to write my step by step blog post for it and would love to get an insight as to which part of the video you feel would benefit from more explanations? Thanks!

    • @benjaqsonworkshop9974
      @benjaqsonworkshop9974 2 года назад +1

      @@TheCarpentersDaughterUK Hi Vikkie. Well it definitely wasn't a bad thing, I enjoy going over more complex parts in build vids. I replayed how you overcame the problem of the biscuits jamming the sliding tray. Was it just making the hole smaller that cured it? Also shaping the sheet at the back and the V-shaped hole to keep the flow steady. Your rapid pace is great to keep people interested but as I find you interesting anyway I personally could enjoy a slower explanation. It's a YT attention span thing, know.

    • @TheCarpentersDaughterUK
      @TheCarpentersDaughterUK  2 года назад

      Bugger... accidentally deleted my reply as I'm tired 😂(!!) I found the small hole above slows down the flow of biscuits from above and reduced any jams significantly compared to the blast idea where the holes were identical.
      Also, the v-shape just allows the biscuits in the box below (while full) to travel better to their destination.... it's also not rounded off as I think more biscuits would get stuck.
      So even if 1 biscuit gets trapped, the nuggets are already dropping into the bowl by the time the lever is pushed that far, so it's just a matter of moving 1mm back and forth without thinking to clear a jam, but thankfully it doesn't happen often. Thinking about it, I suppose this could be solved by bringing the bottom hole slightly closer to the front of the cabinet (or make that part bigger closest to the front), so the biscuits can drop even sooner into the dog bowl.

      @@TheCarpentersDaughterUK I think that's a perfect explanation for your blog post. I really appreciate you taking the time to write it (twice!) especially knowing how hard you work. And yes, I definitely think of you as a problem solving engineer when you figure out how to make things work like this. Thank you.

    Oh heck yeah this is fantastic! We have basically a cat rescue at this point and I've been looking for a feeder-type system like this. With a little modification we'll have ours set to mix 2 brands of kibble and dispense into a bucket to fill bowls around the house :D

      How did I not see that dog bone happening? 😆 The can storage and treat compartments are probably Hans' favourite bit... he only eats biscuits when he's got late light munchies as a last resort lol.
      I'm wondering whether I own genuine Stanley staplers or not. Have a fewling they're Tacwise. Not sure as mine's very old and have read reviews it's rubbish. I'll try once more with new staplers. If no luck, it's time for an upgrade!

    How do you stop the oil from the kibble that will build up over time from going rancid and contaminating new food you're adding? Serious hygiene concern...

    • @TheCarpentersDaughterUK
      @TheCarpentersDaughterUK  2 года назад

      With the plastic sheeting inside similar to the large sacks kibble can come in (and many are now sold in paper bags) humidity isn't an issue where I live and there's constantly a rotating system, so I can't see it going off.
