Im glad you're uploading again. Ill work on watching this as I have time.
Great list! Loved watching it. Thanks for your hard work, I always browse your website.
A thoroughly enjoyable watch with good commentary.
your lists are great, i use them always
Thanks! glad you find them useful.
great list man! im a '94 but never really got to experience the system as a kid other than with sonic adventure! appreciate you taking the time for these types of videos. just downloaded an emulator! cheers
Great list for one of my favorite console of all time!
30 - Devellopped by Takumi (Mars Matrix) and published by Capcom, Giga Wing 2 made its débuts on the Sega Naomi arcade board in 2000 before finding its way to the Japanese and North American Dreamcast in early 2001. This bullet hell takes advantage of the Naomi's 2.5D / 3D capacities, in the same way Capcom vs SNK 2 does. The visuals and textures also get an upgrade over the installments released on the CPS II arcade board. Giga Wing 2 succeeds where Treasure's Ikaruga fails. While Ikaruga received most of its accolades post-mortem, the contemporary reviews did not share the enthusiasm of the modern press, with good reasons. The bullet hell mechanic on Giga Wing 2 builds and expands on the Mars Matrix charging system, but kept the bombs present on the original Giga Wing game, making up for a fast-paced and extremely satisfying shoot'em up, unlike Ikaruga's slow puzzle-like attempt of a shmup. Icing on the cake, Giga Wing 2 is served with an actual storyline, according to which character and vessel you pick at the start. You'd be wrong to assume the noticeable cinematic orchestration is random, as it is everything but. With its violin tensions and beautiful vocal moments, Giga Wing 2's music score propels those warm colourful visuals into the space opera galaxy. The bomb makes an impact in the game's difficulty. Overall, you're up for a reasonnable challenge. Giga Wing 2 is more than a coin-muncher, it is a savings drainer because of how addictive it is, hence why you absolutely need the _actual_ greatest shmup in the Dreamcast's library.
Been wanting to get more into the Dreamcast library and this list definitely helped. I would be interested in top hundred videos for other consoles. Thanks!
They're coming, but they take me 6-8 weeks to make! 😅
@@RetroSanctuary Oh I bet! I've subscribed with all notifications so I won't miss out when you upload.
D2 should have been way higher. A very unique and outstanding game that is highly underrated.
Stop telling people how great this game is, it’s too expensive now 😅
I tried playing it 2 times put in about a hour. Can't get into it. Does it get better or what am I missing?
It’s absurd that a game like Cosmic Smash would be rated higher 😄
Thanks for the compilation!!!
Bravo... Ikaruga in your top ten... I commend you for this choice! Fantastic list and a few gems I hadn't seen before. Thanks!
Sonic Adventure, Shenmue, and Dynamite Cop were games I played the hell out of as a child. I’ve been watching a let’s play of Skies of Arcadia and that’s a hidden gem for sure.
Oh, Skies of Arcadia is more than a hidden gem! It's up there with your Soul Calibur, your Code Veronica, your Crazy Taxi, your JetSet Radio, your Sonic Adventure and your Shenmue. Phenomenal visuals, great characters and storyline, original idea with the ship battle, good music, Skies of Arcadia is one of the best RPGs you'll ever play. It's even better than Grandia II by GameArts and Grandia II is rock solid !!! If Shenmue is a 19 out of 20, I'd give Skies of Arcadia a 17.
@@j.goggels9115 yes!!! I agree. I was so impressed by it.
@@j.goggels9115 i think grandia II is better then skies IMO but both are solid
never had a dreamcast was just a kid around this time and only could afford a ps1 and n64 ....so its kinda cool looking at these games and remanuring what i missed
48:35 Currently playing Phantasy Star Online rn on my phone. I got a Dreamcast emulator running and it plays perfectly
great and very individual list
Super Magnetic Neo and Wetrix are criminally underrated. i love those two games. Qbert is one of my favorite Dreamcast games
Wish I had Maken X in my collection but at least I got Confidential Mission and StarLancer both of which are Dope 🔥! 😎
Where the hell is Zombie Revenge and Bass Fishing? Did u even live in this era? Any DC fan would never overlook those games on a list this long.
There is Marine Fishing instead 😊
Zombie Revenge is mid
Соул Калибур наверное лучший файтинг, а Шенму 1 и 2 это шедевры игровой индустрии.
great vid
sega bass fishing
I miss Speed Devils from Ubisoft. It was the best arcade car racing game on Dreamcast, Release 1999 in Europe.
I often wondered why they didn't release scud racer on the DC.
Bangai-O and Mars Matrix should have been way higher up. Nice to see Border Down, but where's Psyvariar 2?
I was too young, I didn’t even know Dreamcast’s library was so large to only be out for a couple years lol
It was crazy how fast the library grew, Sega really made sure it was as quick and easy to produce games on the system as possible.
You should do a top 100 PS2 and Xbox game list, as you've done the Gamecube one.
Unfortunately the website and RUclips channel cannot really support the creation of new lists (and its looking like they probably never will). Either of those lists would take me ~500 hours to make.
In fact it would probably take me over 100 hours just to play through the remaining PS2 JRPGs that I am currently unfamiliar with!
@@RetroSanctuary I didn't know it was so time consuming. That's unfortunate, I got very excited when you added the Gamecube list. These lists were a big influence on me over a decade ago now when coming to grips with these systems.
@@steve5123456789 The issue is that when you start out you make Top 100s for console's you're very familiar with of course, then they do well, so you make some top 100s for consoles you know slightly less, this goes on and on until you're at the stage were you're needing to play 100s of games in order to gain the knowledge to actually make the list!
Where the PS2 is concerned I'm probably only familiar with ~60-70 games, and the shortlists I start with for my Top 100s usually include well over 200 games so I'd have to play A LOT of games, the PS2 has a massive library so I wouldn't be surprised if I'd have closer to 300 for a shortlist for that console!
@@RetroSanctuary Maybe focusing on the exclusive titles might be better. Most are multiplatform that generation anyway.
I don't think EA snubbed Sega Dreamcast, there was some no agreement between the two parties. EA's conditions on Dreamcast was unacceptable.
EA would know from the outset that Sega could not accept that agreement, they decided not to support the machine but gave an absurd offer just on the off-chance that Sega would agree to unreasonable terms that were excessively in EA's favour.
Still love Illbleed! I know you weren't exactly spoiled for choice on this console but I'm glad it got a mention
I'm still kicking myself for not buying it 20 odd years ago. I had the Ebay listing up and everything ready to buy it before having second thoughts! That ship has certainly sailed now :(
@@RetroSanctuarywhat I do for super expensive games is save up credit at my local game store until one of my grails comes in. Easier than you think!

Haven't even watched the video yet but if Star Lancer isn't on this list, its complete garbage lol
Very meh list imo, too many similar games and the majority are nowhere near the word "best", plus i can't really take it seriously without Seven Mansions Ghastly Smiles (which had innovative gameplay mechanics for the time and maybe the first Co-op in Horror videogames history), no Carrier, no Blue Stinger, eck even The Ring's Terror's Realm is more ok than some of the games on this list 👎 EDIT = i almost forgot, also Zombie Revenge.
