    I can vouch for Alan Brown's work - he built my MK12 Mod 1 upper receiver.
    It's truly a work of art and is 100% to spec to the originals designed and built at NSWC Crane.
    FYI - fun little fact: Alan built the MK12s that were used in the film Lone Survivor.

    I got one of Alan's uppers, put it on a Colt lower, with the appropriate parts, and it drives tacks. Cant beat this stick.

    perhaps at one time it had a LA-5/PEQ-15 behind it? I've seen issued weapons with the same thing because the laser was mounted so close behind the front sight...

    Hey l a v I thought the mark 18 was 10.3 in because that was the shortest it could go to allow a suppressor by crane

    Great video, thanks. I just completed a PRI MK12 late Mod 0, and started a MK12 build. What size NF rings did you use for the NF 2.5-10 X 24 scope? Thanks again.

      Keith Holman I'll second that! Kevin treated me like family and the mk12 mod 1 upper they built me is sub moa, very happy with the customer service and even more so with the upper.

    Looks like a accuracy international?

    • @graysona1800
      @graysona1800 7 лет назад +1

      It is basically an AI AWM/AWSM except instead of the action that they use they have what looks to be a Remington 700 action in it which is the same as the M24 Sniper rifle, accuracy wise it's a pretty good contender. They said it in the video, but they have the Accuracy International Chassis System (AICS) installed on it which is the thing that their AW series of rifles were known for - The floated barrel that plays out it's own harmonics and a rock solid receiver mount allows the barrel to be as free as it needs. Nice try, tho, and I will say if you didn't look at the rear end of the bolt you can't tell the difference at all and where they had it positioned that was all you could see.

    Can anyone tell me what was the purpose of the ARMS rail on the top of the MK12 Mod0?
    My guess is a scope riser or possibly to keep the hand guard more rigid to the receiver.

    • @wayfaerer320
      @wayfaerer320 10 лет назад +1

      The purpose of the ARMS rail was for night vision - to keep your night vision device on the same plane as your day scope. The same reason you see the MARS rail on the MK13 in this video - it allows you to place your night vision device in front of the day scope and remain on the same plane as the day scope.

  • @wayfaerer320
    @wayfaerer320 10 лет назад

    Guys in the field do that all the time actually - there are dozens of photos of SEALs, Rangers, Green Berets, MARSOC, etc running the KAC front sight reversed or hanging off the edge of the rail.
    Not uncommon at all.

    lol...Reversed front sight on the mk18...

    • @brianlee6930
      @brianlee6930 7 лет назад

      Wes Johnston It was done that way, so we can flip the front sight while wearing gloves. The front sight sits nearly flush to the PEQ 15, when mounted in reverse

    • @brianlee6930
      @brianlee6930 7 лет назад

      hjl,nm All mk12s had that, as far as liability goes, there was not any of it, outside of barrel wear.
