- A Boeing whistleblower who reported on safety and quality control concerns in the company’s production line was found dead Saturday, according to South Carolina authorities. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office said John Barnett, 62, died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Saturday.

I do not believe for 1 second that he committed suicide. How many whistleblowers have to die before we start listening? Any of us could be victim of this if we don't stand up against it. These Aerospace Companies have far more power than we can imagine.

In my opinion, a loud and clear message has been sent to other employees who are thinking about becoming a whistleblower against the company. He was about to take down a trillion dollar company. Either way I am never flying Boeing again.

I was pressured to falsify reports after a decades long career in Engineering, and ended up leaving through the ICU. It gets really stressful when the organization you worked with for years goes after you, because you were honest. A lot of it is mental, but I don't think he committed suicide. It went against everything that he was dedicating his retirement to accomplish.

Boeing murdered the whistleblower. He told his friend if he was found dead, it wasn't suicide! Why would he kill himself in a public place, but in the privacy of his car? He would either make it completely private or completely public.

He told his family that if anything happened to him, to know if they say it was suicide they are lying. He was prepared to be taken out and he prepared his family to ensure his death would be investigated.

A friend gave an interview to a local news station saying that Mr. Barnett told her recently that if he ended up dead it was not by suicide. Are there no security cameras at the hotel, or if they were present, were they "under maintenance"? How can the police and coroner conclude so quickly that it was self-inflicted? Was his room on the ground floor? Otherwise he probably would have fallen out the window or jumped, huh? The whole thing reeks.
About time to realize how little our corporate power structures care about lives v their profit.

No I don't, because I actually looked at the evidence instead of inserting whatever ideology has taken over my mind as a lazy substitute for data gathering and thinking. Whistleblowers have spoken out about the problems at Boeing since the 1990s, some anonymously and many showing their faces in documentaries over the years. See what they all blame the problems on, don't make it up.
It's almost all white guys every single time you see a factory floor, managerial or other workspace at Boeing, by the way, making it super obvious that you didn't do any research, you just want to insert wild accusations about the only subject you care about into any tragic story you come across, facts be damned.

Murdering whistleblowers won’t immunize them from the competitive health of this business. Decades ago, it was the glory and pride of American industry, but not anymore. Their planes are falling at an alarming rate due to the wear and tear of their engines and parts. Currently, Airbus and a few others are the champions. 🏆
