Voightlander is making some great lenses and with this one hasn’t forgotten SLR or DSLR user’s. Images look great! Great to see Tilley! The official pup of Gray’s!😎 Thanks for sharing with us!☕️📷
Love the shirt Kon. When I lived in Rochester and worked for Kodak, I often visited the Champion factory outlet store. Back in the 70's and 80's you could get some great bargains there on factory "seconds".
a great video, and becky, as this is a 55, not a 50 mm lens, you CAN use the PN-11 extension tube (52 mm long), AND focus it, so you could use this as a "short & portable" macro setup, as 55 and 60 are not so far off each other. and would be a way to try out how close these lenses focus, dof, subject separation, etc.
Thrilled you two gave it a quick first look. Well done as usual. I have the Voightlander 58mm F1.4 . I like it... don't love it. I purchased the Nikon 58mm F1.4 shortly after the Voight. The auto focus was the main draw initially as I needed a fast fifty with auto focus to do live concert/club shoots and the lens is MAGIC. Bokeh is second to none for a fast 50ish and it just has that something special about it.... the bokeh on the Voightlander 58 I found distracting at certain distances and just never loved the lens despite many people raving about it. I have been considering the Voightlander 50mm f1.2 but after seeing the results from your video I think I am leaning more toward the 55mm.... especially after seeing the results from your video...the bokeh is funky and beautiful... even the slight glow wide open I like..... I've noticed the 55mm - 58mm lenses definitely render differently than standard 50's ( I have several legacy 55's a 57 and two 58's from canon Konica and Minolta). The Voightlander 58mm simply sits on a shelf. I cant wait to see the comparison you are planning in the near future. will probably trade in the 58 for the 55 when it arrives on shelves. I was hoping you would do that comparison. I really enjoy your content. BRAVO
i want to buy the very first nikkor 58mm (5.8cm) 1.4 the bokeh of that model is swirly and nearly almost smooth although its more of an art lens than an all-rounder
Lovely video as always. There is something amazing about an English Summer. IMHO the Nikon 50mm F1.2 is. a bit soft esp at 1.2 (to be expected). Believe it or not I prefer the 50mm f1.8 manual focus lenses for general photography.
I have the Nikkor 50mm f1.2 AIS. Paid $500 USD for it in 2022. Love it on my mirrorless camera. I was interested in this voightlander lens but nah. I think I am good.
I tried it out and sent it back the next day. Bokeh was a bit nervous. Bokeh balls had green edges and the corner sharpness was poor until f4. If you want the best "50"ish Nikon F lens, it's the 58mm f1.4 AF-S G.
@@stefan_becker I am looking at these lenses for old ai film cameras, plus via adapter on Z series….need aperture rings, so G lenses are a non starter. I have a 40mm f2, and 50mm f1.2, I am probably leaning voigtlander 58mm f1.4
I shoot the Nikkor 55mm non ai and newer ai f/1.2’s on my Nikon film , dslrs and now Z9 . Love it most on the Z9 with focus peaking vs d850 w/focus peaking . I have many more shot wide open in focus . It’s soft enough wide open it’s hard to tell if you nailed the focus . Takes some looking but it’s there . The images are sublime to me even wide open . The low element count helps a ton with Microcontrast. Is Microcontrast real well shoot that 55 Nikkor or the 50 f/1.4 ai next to the Sigma Art 40mm f/1.4 and you see the difference right off. So much more depth of image shading detail in the low element glass. With black and white or color . The color saturation is definitely greater. Shoot the Nikkor O 35mm f/2.0 and see sharpness and microcontrast galore. What a phenomenal lens . I was thinking the Voigtlander would show a greater variance in image quality to the old Nikkor 55 f/1.2 .
Ask Voightlander to make F mount 58mm f1.2 aspherical 😁
Voigtlander rocks, I have their new 40mm LTM lens, first new LTM lens in many years. New glass for for my Barnack Leica.
Hello both, always good to see people enjoying just taking images.
can't wait to get one...i have the f1.4 and just love the classic rendering of voigtlander lenses
F mount has a gigantic installed base. They are smart!
Where did you get that Nikon sweater at the beginning of the video? Looks so cool but I can’t find them😢

I like the Fmount manual Voigtlander’s as I can still use on my F5 and adapt to my z50. I have the 40mm|2 and the 58mm| 1.4
beautiful lens and beautiful picture. thank you so much.
My very first SLR lens was a Cosina 55mm, but the f/1.4. It was back in the late 70's and was an M42 mount!!!!

lovely video as always ! have you tried (a completely different) lomography petzval 55mm/1,7 for zmount?
the voitglander looks a bit like the older version nikon 55mm 1.2! i love the metal version focus ring.

This 55mm or Voigtlander 58mm f1.4 will likely be my next film SLR purchase.

@@davidroberts6766 Ok, I can easily use the 58mm f1.4 G on my F6.

i agree about the microcontrast of the lens. i own the earliest S version and even wide open the images are more than acceptable when in focus
Voigt 55 f1.2 vs Zeiss makro 50 f2 vs Leica R 50 f2 (Nikon converted)… wdyt?
The big Q: Is Becky selling her Nikkor 55mm?
vs Zeiss 50mm 1.4 zf.2?
Good question we don’t know
Anyone know someone wanting to buy a kidney? I'm thinking I'm going to have to sell one to upgrade my gear when stuff like this keeps coming out 😂
Firstly🎉
