    👋Spike Throwers might be some of the most POWERFUL weapons in the Forbidden West, but are they the BEST??? What's your favorite weapon type??? 🏹🤗

      Boltblasters 😊

      My favorite weapon (type) is the Gravesingers Lament (full elite critical hits) and Irivs Downfall as my tear bow.
      I complement those Sharpshot bows with Hunter bows for elemental build up (all but plasma, for which I use the Forgefall if need be).

      Ofc Warrior bows :p

    Honorable mention in the very rare tier: Glowblast Spikethrower
    Overall the vindicator is more versatile but it has a decent niche against a few select plasma-weak machines. e.g slitherfangs, acid clawstriders, apex dreadwings and ravagers, and also a few types of rebels, including a certain boss that gets completely trashed by plasmaspikes.

    It wasn't talked about here, but THE BEST use for Drill Spikes is for causing Knockdowns on machines. Drill Spikes have the highest Knockdown Power of ANY ammo type in the entire game!
    Worth noting though that to knock down Medium & Large machines, you have to hit them in the Legs. It will not work nearly as well if you don't. Just a couple Drill Spikes thrown at the legs will knock down even the biggest machines!

    The Spinthorn has such amazing built in buffs when focusing on using it's Drill Spikes that it can easily run you thru the end game too if you wanted!

    I would personally recommend loading any Spike Thrower w Drill Spikes up with Knockdown Power Coils. Causing Knockdowns is THE main benefit of Drill Spikes!
    Of course, you want to take advantage of the Knockdown by running up & inflicing a Critical Hit, or by switching to a strong weapon like a Sharpshot Bow & focus on hitting some weak points while it's down. Then go back to the Drill Spike after it has stood up again to put it right back on it's ass 😁

    Only sucky thing bout the Spinthorn Spike Thrower is it requires Greenshine to upgrade... I like to save my Greenshine for late game equipment simply cus it'd be a MAJOR bummer if you don't have enough to upgrade your late game equipment cus you wasted it all on the weak, early game stuff.

      such a great weapon. makes it so much fun to start with it in a NG+ and just tear through everything 💪

      @@chazmatazzgames Well, I agree with your statement, but truth be told, I’m a bow and arrow kind of player, hunter with added stealth, to be precise. Hunter bows for elemental build up (Sun Scourge, Tears of the Landgod (purge water) and Death Seakers Shadow (shock)), and Sharp shot bows for the rest (Irivs for tear and Gravesingers Lament for attack). Also, Forgefall for plasma (if needed). I also use Emperors Reign as a lightweight attack bow and the Tie That Binds as required. ER saves on the Volatile Sludge - both it and GL are elite critical hits builds. All the other bows are adequately coiled for elite elements, Irivs is coiled for elite tear.
      Believe you me: that build ‘tears’ (no pun intended) through everything as well. :-)
      BTW: just for fun, what level have you reached by now?

      I have a few different saves that I cycle through, but I just reached lvl 118 on one of them! How about you? @@GeertDelmulle

      @@chazmatazzgames Just like Arktix, I see. Well, My save games are sequential so the level numbers increase.
      Currently GL233 (close to levelling up). Out of principle I started doing the Arena hack only after having completed my 4th run (on Ultra Hard), at that point GL222. A fast way to gain levels is to do “large machine hunting safaris”.
      BTW: truth be told, once above -say- level 90 or so, (Ghost) Levels are just a number. And all those XPs you keep gathering are useless, too, because that skill tree has been completed for the longest time, by now.
      But it’s good fun to become beter: my first play through I did on Story mode. Never thought I’d be going for UH, but here we are…

    You really shouldn't be using a slow weapon like Spike Throwers against fast, agile foes like Stalkers or those Monkey things (can't remember their name offhand). Too much risk of missing your shots. Probably best to use a Sharpshot or Hunter Bow against them.

  • @skins4thewin
    @skins4thewin 2 месяца назад

    Never really been a fan of Spike Throwers in this game. Imo, they aren't powerful enough for how incredibly slow they are, and they destroy parts vs tearing them off. I feel like you're better off just using a Sharpshot Bow for big damage as it's faster & more accurate.
    Drill Spikes though are particularly nice for their hidden Knockdown mechanic. They have a very high probability of knocking the machine down if hit in the legs with one.

  • @skins4thewin
    @skins4thewin Месяц назад

    Imo, if you've already Frozen a machine, then you're kind of wasting potential damage by using Spikethrowers at that point. Considering Explosion damage only does 25% more damage to a Frozen foe, vs just about anything else which gets a 100% damage buff.
    Thus you're far better off using most anything else against Frozen foes, & saving Spikethrowers for when the enemy is NOT Frozen! Just saying. It's one of those little basic common sense things that you do while you play. Sometimes a little common sense goes a long way while playing this game.
