Once again Native Instruments didn’t take notes from Akai 😂
Native jus make stuff up, they hardly ever listen consumers requests. Which sucks
Do they sit around in the office and crack jokes on us after a drop?
This offers nothing.
Aftertouch?
Didn’t MPE take care of that tech.
DAW integration?
Is that even a task?
Who doesn’t know how to make that happen.
I think they’re laughing at us.
Like “let’s slow drip a feature here and there, and rack up sales”.
These guys.
I used to say “they don’t get it”.
They do.
I agree. How do you not have touch screen in almost 2024?
@@willmcelroy6376
Korg Trinity keyboard had touchscreen in 1995!
You’re so right!
They just don’t care
I'm going to stay with the MK2
i'm waiting for the mk4 maschine. but the keys are nice...thanks for the video.👍🏾

I like the Poly Aftertouch feature.
I believe that I read earlier today that they are working on expanding the list of DAW integration.
Looks promising, so far.
I really want to see what daw integration means to them
Isn’t the aftertouch only for the 88key?
@@willmcelroy6376 all have the polyphonic aftertouch...
As others have mentioned, Digital Performer is a DAW that has been around for a few decades. I played around with it in someone's studio in the 90s but gravitated more toward Opcode Vision (incorporated into Apple's Logic) and Pro Tools. As a matter of fact, I think Prince is using Digital Performer onscreen in his movie "Under the Cherry Moon. Most people I know using it are film and game composers. To Digital Performer's credit, unlike a lot of other music companies like AVID or Moog, they are still independently owned and putting out versions.
Maschine 2 and MPC are half DAWs and the only real purpose is to use them as the plugins. I like Maschine 2 better, but the MPC has some great features. They both need to work on their DAW, so others DAWs would then alone integrate their gear for them.
This is a clean looking controller, although with all that extra space I wonder why they didn’t throw some drum pads or some faders on one of the sides?
The thing I’ve always liked is the lights letting you know if you were to hit a wrong note as well as showing a lot of people how to play scales correctly.
It’s definitely something I could see the benefits of having especially for people wanting to learn proper playing techniques.
I’m a bit let down that they didn’t at least incorporate some kinda audio interface in it! I’m sure a lot of people would appreciate something like that.
MOTU Digital Performer has been out for years. I saw someone using it back in the 2010s. I haven't checked it out myself, but I've seen very few using it.
Who else caught the foreshadowing in the background at the end ( box on the floor).....new product video coming soon!!!!!!
Luv the software got s88 mk2 but i would luv to see more nks especially for somebody like me a reasons studio user
Thanks Ave! With this rolling out, I am sort of expecting Novation to drop the new SL MKIV... thoughts?
Gotta S61 my set up is cool, I’ll wait n buy a used one. Looks dope though waiting to see what FL Integration will be and too bad no Akai MPC support really sucks, I definitely like both platforms
NI we wanted pads and sliders.. and Bring back the mk2 lights! Those are from the first MK gen
MOTU Digital Performer has been out for years… definitely on the scene before DAW’s like Live and Fruity Loops.
I have a pretty question for you , I would like to make tuto beatmaking video with my smartphone but the song quality is very weak , what kind of machine or whatelse do you put after your master output on mpc live standalone for this quality on your great video ? best regard.
When I saw the trailer I was like "hell yeah this looks dope" but then I saw the price and man... maybe it's worth it on sale but I don't know... for a bit more you can get a Hydrasynth or Hydrasynth Deluxe and have a poly aftertouch keyboard with a whole standalone synth. I know that's not a fair comparison but it feels wrong to pay that much for just a midi keyboard essentially :D
Also poly aftertouch is a feature that is a great buzzword but let's be honest: it's only important for a very specific kind of keyboard player. Look at how everyone is demoing the poly aftertouch. I guess if you do like ambient music or very slow music and hold one chord for an extended amount of time it's cool.
Also the screen looks very nice and the keyboard itself probably plays great, like all native instruments keyboards so far, but again that price feels too high for "just" a master keyboard!
Look dope
Digital Performer is an OG DAW. You may not have heard of it because it is definitely more popular among classical composers than beatmakers.
Looks nice, but I'm still leaning towards the FLKey49 from Novation since I'm primarily an FL user. Where them faders at bruh?!
I was going to buy this initially but I'm Content with my NI A49 MIDI Kontroller. I don't see a major jump in aesthetics nor does it have enough features to spend $799 ( I like 49 keys) This should have been standalone just like the MPC One/Live imo.
I’ve used Digital Performer for 15ish years.
It’s my favorite DAW.
(Ableton Live is creeping up though ha. )
It’s credits are things like The Lords of the Rings soundtracks.
Motu makes hardware too.
High quality stuff.
Ave 2 things I just sent back the mpc live 2 !! I just couldn't get into the sounds or lack of , coming from the native-instruments eco system with komplete 14 and my maschine mk3... secondly just pre ordered this komplete kontrol mk3 and I'm excited but also just found out no maschine software support at this time I hope they will in a future update
You can always sample into the MPC and get the best of both worlds
@emorisson yes I know but it was just not in my work flow...I don't sample and if I got tons of packs for maschine and tons of komplete 14 sounds and programs it was waisting time for just to say I made a beat on the mpc ...I had it for about 40 days
And I also had a mpc 60ll before ...just not my thing... I tried
Convert your NI expansions to MPC. Too easy.
Who's had their mk3 for more than 6 months already? Are there any issues with the keybed? Are the drivers all good now?
Is the keyboard holding up okay with a lot of play ?
That Demon AI transform shit was dope
I saw the pre-release review this morning $1299 for the s88 and I'm smiling thinking a new maschine+ is coming this year, and the new S having more DAW capability is nice
😂😂😂that was my first thought
Maschine + for what :o im Maschine user. Maschine is dead, since 2017, nothing change. # Mpc, Roland
What, so this one won’t work for 2 years until enough people complain about it. Then finally have it fixed then abandoned? Lmao you can’t trust this company.
@lartisan6274 You are right about nothing since 2017 but as long as NI continues to refuse to put pads on there keyboards i would think they will come out with a pad based unit so users have full functionality in their ecosystem. In any event my MPC X se in conjunction with my Novation SL does everything I need so im good. I've only kept my Maschine+ at this point because of its build quality and nostalgia at this point
I went standalone with the Force and MPC Live and haven't looked back from NI. Tried the Maschine Studio and never got the hang of it. The constant upgrades to the software and processing overhead on PC's just removed all the spontaneity and fun. Kraftwerk didn't need 10,000 presets to make great music and working in front of a PC is a huge drain on my creativity vibe. I used to have Komplete Ultimate from v7 all the way up to v11 and an S controller, but the Intel Mac swap over and problems with Big Sur, Catalina, and Monterrey finally helped me step away. Feels great making music again like on my trusty Roland XP-60 from back in the early 00's.
im glad they finally brought Aftertouch!!! I'm suprisized you didn't have anything to say about that!!!!
Because my keyboard has it😂
Every keyboard has that now a days nothing special at all. Especially with that price tag.
@@AveMcreeI think he means POLYPHONIC aftertouch. Most boards do not have that.
A stand-alone unit with pads would be fire.
Not buying because I know they think putting pads would kill their Maschine line. But man it would be nice. And I know it’s the only reason they not doing it.
So not worth my buy.
Too expansive with pads. They probably make the best pads on the market.
If they have seamless transmission in their standalone tooo wow!!!!
@@towerrunner4675 exactly. It would make the maschine irrelevant
Studio one is one of the most 🔥🔥🔥 DAWS
It was for me for quite some time. On my way to cubase county, USA now though. 🎹♥️
this was good. I enjoyed this
Welp guess it’s time to buy the mk2 now lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Idk I feel like it cost to much for what it does. And it has to connect to software STILL??
I used Digital Performer in High School. I'm 40!
I think they FAILED! Lol sort of. Poly aftertouch, nice. Kontakt integration, nice. Of course.. It always looks nice. We get it NI. Y’all make very nice LOOKING ads and nice LOOKING gear. NKS is one of the best things to happen to plugins since sliced bread. However, that was on the last 2 versions of this board. What’s up with some nice standalone midi features? I got a hybrid setup, that’d be cool. This controller has so much headroom to be fire if they can truly follow-up with some great updates (i.e., Play Assist, some sort of sequencer maybe?, etc.) but I doubt it. NI is all over IG responding to this request from users, on some “stay tuned”, “not yet” ish. Lol bro. How you expect ppl to spend that type of bread on a promise. Bye. 😂😂 me personally, I have an MK2.. I likely will wait for all the hype beasts to throw it on Reverb and even so, the only way I’ll buy it is if they integrate better Daw control for Ableton and some decent stand alone features.
I’m glad they didn’t get you Ave! Keep it pure bro.
Thanks, can it control the Maschine Software?
No
Bring back Maschine support and integration ASAP!!!
A missed opportunity. All that blank space not used for additional controls. Why no pads?
Nice big screen though.
This has a target customer. That customer isn’t me.
I wanted standalone.
0:19 Ave McCree turned into one of Insane Clown Posse's Joker Cards (album covers if you don't know)
😂
Not compatable with Maschine!!!! Wtf? I'm actually mad rn
Damn really?😆
Yes F n.i. for this bs
My only question is: When I’m not using it as a NI controller can I I have scale and chord mode when not connected to Komplete Kontrol Like the Novation lineup????If not, keep that shit away from me!!!
No it NEEDED TO BE STANDALONE!!! Make two versions if need be!!! It’s the same shit to me. It’s only good if you don’t mind always pulling up Komplete Kontrol.. after years of that you’ll get tired of having to use Komplete Kontrol to if you want scale mode.
So it no longer works with Maschine?
this keyboard looks amazing but the price is crazy. I thought the arturia keyboard price would bring the new native instruments keyboard down but that was not truu
like I know its an upgrade but I still like the look of the mk2
the use digital performer in some colleges
though.. not a complete controller when 2 of the DAW listed are 'coming soon' and there's other DAW's not listed at all.
..lot's of space on that huge panel... and they decoded to have shifted buttons for mute/solo.. no dedicated pan knobs either..
lot's of +shift stuff.
display isn't touch based... it's bigger than the 1.5 inch tall push 3 display though.
poly aftertouch .. it's a 2023 'thing' bit like 3d tv's were a few years back.
no cv/gate for controlling euro rack/analog synths
only 1 midi out.
looks okay but nothing 'new' really same sh** in a new box.
Coming soon means at least 3 years 🤣😂🤣😂
No Mashine software integration is super stupid!!! Looks cool but not with it!!!
Naah.. I’ll keep the mk2
This keyboard is making me lose hope in the Maschine MK4 when it comes out. There is no new innovation just a prettier design.
It’ll come bruh. Then you’ll be mad at something else
@@AveMcree lol
Digital Performer by Motu.
It does exactly everything mk2 does except it must be connected to komplete kontrol software, (means kk on every channel) so its not an upgrade for me
Master your toys, 2-3 toys is enough for making vibes
Maybe ten
my 2 cents are.
1 I don't get NIs obsession with intergrating cpus and not going all out stand alone (Im not into stand alone)
2 the software intergration isn't new or couldn't fixed, patched or worked around
bonus: where are the pads lol.
still cool
🤷🏾
It's summed up quite simply: Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
You didn’t mention the Poky AT, 😂
I know they still gotta sell Maschine, but come on, it’s 2023 😂 and still no key/pad controller
Bruuh all that space - put some faders on it or something DANG - 😢
For existing native instruments users this is extremely disappointing product. It's been 5 years since our last drop and we basically got after touch. It would have been nice to have some pads some faders key detection a million other things but instead we got basically the same product with aftertouch
If this had faders wouldn’t they need to be motorized? How would the connection/relationship work between where the physical fader is and where the fader is in the daw? I also don’t understand why many folks want this keyboard to be standalone. Are they preferring not to use it in their daw or do they wish to use it on stage, or take it to the park or the beach? I think if this keyboard had everything folks wanted, they would complain about the cost. I can understand not buying this if maschine integration was important. I personally wouldn’t ‘not’ buy it because there wasn’t enough added from the previous version, or because I think ni is out to make money off of me, (news flash, they are), or because I think it’s unfair or unwise of them to do such and such. I’m not one to cut off my nose to spite my face. I’m buying this because my mk2 is acting up and I simply can’t have any downtime right now. Even if my mk2 gets fixed I don’t trust how long that would be supported. I’ll have it as a backup if there’s any issues with the mk3. I’m heavily invested in the ni ecosystem with collector’s edition and some others, so it’s ni keyboards all the way for me, not switching to anything else. 🎹♥️
It’s 899.94 after taxes
Already preordered s61 mk3
Lol
I’m sure your music will be way better
Pro Tools is the Sears n Roebuck of music production….. in other words they had their chance
They again dropped the ball.Should have been standalone...with Izotope Music Production Suite...SSD expandable to 4tb or 8tb. I thought that is why they did the Izotope merger🤦🏾♂🤷🏾♂ tuh
Think mine got lost in transit.... 👀
😂😂😂😂
9:22 Damn these companies with their shiny new music toys tempting us with their products that we go gotta study. Give me a 9 to 5 job any day.
Ehh No Thanks !!!! ..........Now that's a pain in the..ARSHE!!!
Great video Ave.
You got enough toys to keep you happy though
😄
Very true
i really like the Display. Probably can use 80% of your work flow without even looking at the computer screen. This would go well with my Eurorack Modular gear....
New Maschine Coming, Maybe?😅
It’s not integrated with Maschine mk3 like the old kontrol
I cant believe they removed ALL Maschine integration, 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Yo what happened to your mustache 😂 it look crooked 🤣!!
Wait😊 they didn't send you one?digital performer is a MOTU DAW
Didn’t feel like reviewing it. I like these types of videos
@AveMcree so for just painful feel I bought one and one getting delivered this week let's see how this goes I hope it works.. but I'm really waiting for arturia new keyboard..I love what I have the pro but if it does more than I will stay with it
After watching a few reviews, my impression is that this is an incredibly complex and feature-rich MIDI controller. However, it requires a significant time investment to get the best out of it. While digging in, you may encounter some annoying limitations here and there, unless you are happy to stay within NI ecosystem and especially Kontakt.
It's a tuff sale. Good luck to NI & the content creators
@AveMcree, stay away, you know their track record.. always Shiney lack in the software department
@certifiedbeatz I totally disagree..I have got the maschine mk3 with a free version of komplete 12 upgraded to full version then 13 ultimate then 14 ultimate.. did all during there half off upgrades and with that and all there maschine expansions no one else can match them in sounds. And mascine mk3 is a beast with the software integration
@johnnieray2423 I agree with you as far as libraries and expansion they are definitely great in those areas.. there software, however, hasn't progressed but could change..
Wayment...you aint never head of Digital Performer??? That's one of the OG DAWs...now, who is still using it and why are the more pertinent questions🤣
Damn you are right. I totally forgot 😂
Danny Elfman is on it still.
I like the big screen, and the integration of non-NI companies. Probably useful for live performers, but not for me.
True
For live performances? I don’t think so.
@@tuneunleashed This controller with a small PC could be an alternative to a keyboard workstation. Something like an MPC in controller mode.
@@towerrunner4675 Don’t see it. Rather use an actual live board for live performances like a Nord Stage 3 or 4. This is more for Studio a good controller for live would be something like the Arturia Keylab, and M Audio Hammer 88 Pro just because it’s easy to cue things with the pads.
@@tuneunleashed You're right, keyboard / PC isn't very practical for gigs. They gave Bolo a sample, so I guess it's for stand-alone producers at first place.
Once again fuck updates for Maschine Plus for standalone users. Should’ve spent the money on Akai.
I smell a Machine Version of the X coming soon.
That’s definitely coming. If this doesn’t support the current generation Maschine. Then, you know what will 😂
@@AveMcree 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@AveMcreeSeems like an awesome company who cares about their customers right? Not scummy or greedy at all right?
Bruh, its a MK2 , Maschine Kontrol Mach 2, that doesn’t even “kontrol” Maschine.🤣😂
I've got a music production PC with 256GB of RAM. Why would I want a stand-alone anything? Oh, and I just picked up my Kontrol S88 MK3 from the Fedex office. And dude is a shill. If this was some cheap piece-o-crap from Akai, he'd be giving it a rim-job.
No touch screen? Really? In 2023
What good is an onboard computer if you can’t standalone?
No MPE? Come on this is 2023. The after touch is cool but doesn't compare.
these keyboards are the most overpriced items I would not buy ever from native instruments!! I have maschine MK2 Kontakt etc. I even one of the DJ mixers!!!!! the one before and now these are not worth there price
And it’s not compatible with maschine?? This company has to be on some crazy amount of drugs.
@@MyNameJeff.. 😂😂👍
@@gsmusic2009 hahaha
PASS!!!!
Yea unfortunately NI stiffed FL users, as of writing this there is no deep integration still! The false advertisement and disorganization from NI sets a new standard for them. I can't help get the feeling that NI is falling apart at the seems because founder of the company just left the building leaving behind a cryptic message foreshadowing the future of the company. Its either get bought out or go bankrupt is pretty much what Ulrich was implying while simultaneously there is an ongoing FL/NI saga playing out in realtime so...pretty shady marketing tactics
They totally missed out on everything that can be possible. 1. 16 drum pads. 2. It's not integrated with maschine. 3. No mpe. 4.the price is not worth it.
You forgot to mention that it doesn’t even currently support their own daw. (The Maschine). This is a big piece of steaming hot garbage. Keep your old ones.
Dumb. They ditched their software Maschine and focused on a standalone keyboard that’s not so standalone.🤣😂.
Dropped support for Maschine!?!? So apart from the polyphonic aftertouch (which really is for a small niche of users) and the new screen this is a downgrade compared to MK2. Pay more for less ? Time to abandon Native Instruments , I believe.
Its gotta be for film composers 1st.
totally useless upgrade if u have an MK2 no reason to upgrade at all.
You don’t know what DP is? It was the worst DAW to me. By mark of the unicorn. Presonus stole their swag.
Different tools for different tasks. Back in the day, it was very good for picture.
