Evening, northern lights were good, but the photos are so different to what you can see with just eyes!

I have a question about assaying.
At one point you said you had to send a piece to them in pieces for assaying. This confused me because when I have asked elsewhere nobody said they had ever done this. Was this to have the individual metals assayed for weight or for another reason.
If a piece used silver and gold is it best to send it separately for the separate marks or simply gave it marked mixed metals?

I had to get my white gold ring plated with silver because I am allergic to rhodium.
