Hey Guys, one last comparison! The rear headroom is slightly different between the two as well. These measurements are from the rear seat to the roof lining in each model: 908mm in the Coupe 944mm in the A-Class Saloon
I'm in love with the CLA! I hope you know how lucky you are to be around all this beautiful cars! I wish I could drive a car like the CLA you have there, even for a day! Great videos by the way even in these bad times they keep coming! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Gennaro! I know, the cars are amazing and am forever thankful I get to experience them often! Oh I will! Got videos lined up all the way to just before Christmas!
Just got NEW CLA 180 premium yesterday...Car looks fearsome with sporty looks!! I chose metallic grey after watching this video & hands down its the best colour ever!!!
Hugely needed video one of these is my next car, currently driving the new A Class with the 1.33 liter Renault Sport engine and will be choosing the 1.33 again for the CLA......looks like iv'e made my mind up ...CLA it is :)
Picked up my AMG A 35 premium plus in White with the night package and with all of the options. I don't prefer CLA due to its uncomfortable rear seating position and length. Absolutely in love with my A 35 :)
Wouldn’t say it’s long, it’s based on the A-Class but just has a curvy roof to give a sleek design. The Coupe is 4,695mm compared to the A-Class which is 4,419mm 🤓
The seats in the Saloon in my opinion, are more comfortable, although the electric seats in both options have now been removed which is a real shame. I also prefer the the saloons interior given it doesn't have the aluminium inlays on the dash & doors. Headroom in the back is also compromised in the CLA but it does have a sportier look for sure.
Just come across this vid, i got the cla 180 premium plus cosmos black in July and love it 👌. Im 6ft 2 and still plenty of space and comfortable to drive. The ambient lighting just makes a night time drive so much more enjoyable too
Hi Nick, just picked up a brand new white CLA180 today and it is astonishing ❤️ have to say your videos had helped me a lot in getting to know my car, the mbux system, etc. I love em all especially under tips and trick content. Keep it going and all the best 💪🏼
Thank you! Ooo very nice! 👀 I’ll keep em coming, make sure you watch the video later! 4pm today! Some exciting news coming to my channel for the future 🤓 it has a part 1 and part 2
Amazing that Mercedes markets 2 models that are so similar. Helpful how you matched the features to draw a fair price comparison - very useful. Yes there are some nice touches on the CLA, like the frameless windows, but £800 is still a fair amount of cash. Also, for me a big + with the A Class Saloon is the seats with separately adjustable headrests. I’ve owned 2 different GLA models with both types of seat and found the separate headrest type to be much more comfortable. Thanks for another excellent review.
Congratulations on another good video. I took delivery of a CLA180 in Cosmos Black with the Premium Plus package in mid June. I did compare it with the A class but I thought that it was worth the extra money. I find it to be much more comfortable. the seats in the CLA are more supportive and the Kinetic feature is very useful. I am also very impressed with the petrol consumption. I regularly get 50 mpg plus. I also have to thank you for making the MBUX system easy for me to understand! I have owned a lot of cars in past 51 years, around 35 in fact. Four of them have been Mercedes and this CLA stacks up well against them.
Amazing to hear Brian! Glad you like your new CLA! They are awesome and I would love to get one myself one day! I’ve had the same engine before in an A-Class and yes I can confirm the high MPG from the engine! I was amazed too!
Great video, Nick. Thank you! I already made my decision and have been a CLA owner since July. As I was choosing between the AMG 45S models, the saloon A Class wasn’t an option. Even if it was, I would’ve still gone with the CLA. I prefer the coupe look anyway, and the extra boot space is a bonus. I prefer both to the A Class hatchback too, although that’s probably more an age thing, I don’t think I’m the target market! (I’m 44)
Hi Russell! Thank you, glad you liked it! Oooo very nice! Yes I like both but I certainly sway more toward the CLA, I prefer the coupé look too. Compared to an A-Class hatchback, I wouldn't mind either! 😅
Thanks again Nick for a great video. Your style beats other Mercedes dealerships channels by a mile. I’ve changed my A Class order to a CLA Shooting Brake and the waiting list is sonars to bear.
Another good one Nick. I must admit I have loved the A class saloon since it was launched. It's the only downside of my A class is that it is the hatchback. I never thought about the CLA before I always said the A class saloon is a smaller C class
wow i would luv to have an a class hatch in america . if it was possible id buy one right now especially since benz is ending the a class in the states . looks way nicer than the saloon especially from the rear directly
Thanks for the excellent and detailed review. I think I prefer the CLA, and look forward to being able to test drive one as soon as the country opens up!
Hey IT learner, thank you! Well it’s down to preference 🤓 EV’s cost more upfront but running costs afterward are significantly less. If you’re torn, you could always go half and get a CLA Plug-in Hybrid 🤓
Great video , Just ordered my first Mercedes , but the prices are a lot more here in Ireland compared to the uk , looking forward to February to get my A class saloon amg line with the night package 2.0 diesel automatic
Hey Nick, did you know that most Mercedes have a secret compartment in the glove box, if you feel in the roof of the glove compartment there is a dial if you twist it a compartment drops down . Not a lot of people know about it, I had to tell my sales person about it. Might be worth mentioning in a future video.
Absolutely! I know it’s in the compact cars, A-Class etc I’ll have a look when I do another Tips & Tricks and see which exact models do have it. And yes defo! I’ll include it on the next tips and tricks (probably next year)
Great video. Only thing unanswered for me would be the rear seat space, specifically with car seats in mind. The decision for me might depend on whether i can get a bulky rear facing car seat in the CLA or not
@@npoleary Thank you mate. I don't think height is the issue, more the space between the back of the rear seat and the back of the front seat. Currently in a Corsa-E so the front seat is pushed quite far forward and don't want that again!
Oh I see, sadly I didn’t measure that exact amount but what I meant was the roof sloping down to actually fit a child seat in. The CLA has borderless windows so the opening might be a little smaller as the roofline cuts in to get a child seat in through the open door (if that makes sense) It’ll go in but I feel from memory there probably would be more room on the saloon
I have to A250e and would say that the rear passengers do have much more head room than the cla.. saying that I think the shooting brake version is one of the most stylish of its kind.
@@npoleary Just about! One question I have, so mine is the AMG Line base model (not premium or premium +) -both my screens are 10 inches but I thought the AMG line base version comes with a 10 inch and a 7 inch drivers display. Is that some kind of manufacturing accident? I'm not complaining haha - I was just wondering why that would be the case.
I drive my denim blue premium plus CLA up and down just north of Glasgow beside Loch Lomond ....It makes me fell very special. Hope you all enjoy, as I do.
Hi, great video as always. Quick couple of questions: can the panoramic sunroof be partially opened or is it all or nothing? Are the seat adjustments now manual only even on premium plus? Thanks.
Hey Satila, Thank you! Yes you can open it partially, it doesn’t have to be opened fully. With actual specification, best to speak with your local Mercedes and they can let you know for sure. Hope that helps!
Hey Paul, thanks for the suggestion! I did actually start recording this a few months ago but scrapped it during filming. Although from the outside both cars look quite different, the only difference is quite literally the boot size. I was looking back and thought this is an 8-10 min video to say that the Shooting Brake has a 45L bigger boot so I didn’t continue any further.
Loved the reviews can you please do a little more on these cars leg room in the rear please not sure which to get with kids thanks again keep up the good work
Great video nick!! I just wanted to ask which model would be really smooth to drive? amg a180 saloon or the a200 sports? Going to order a class saloon in 2 weeks!!
Loving all your videos Nick, very informative and well presented! Would you consider doing approved used reviews, I’ve recently bought a 2017 A45, night edition with AMG performance pack, exhaust, suspension etc absolutely in love with it! Would love to see you do a review on it? Thanks
Hi Martin! Thank you! Glad you like them all! I would love to, first time I drove that car I said I would get one these one day! The issue is Mercedes-Benz of Poole (where I film) never have one in. When they do, it sells instantly! And as you have one, I’m sure you love it!
@@npoleary Understandably they do sell very quickly! I take mine to Sandown Dorchester, I’d happily drop it off to you to do a review if I’m coming over your way! 😂
Oh they do! They don’t hang around long! Thanks Martin for the offer! I’ve actually finished physically filming this year (I pre recorded lots of stuff before the UK Lockdown just in case). Just got lots of editing to do! If I need one, I might take you up on your offer! 😎
Great video, thanks ! I myself had compared the two cars when I considered buying one of them, I preferred the coupé look of CLA but A-Class Sedan seemed to me a somewhat "fresher" car, if you know what I mean. Unfortunately I was unable to find either of them in the 4matic version on prompt delivery so I finished purchasing a C220d Coupé 4matic.
Great comparison - out of curiosity, I'm looking into the AMG Line and I LOVE the grey suede and red stitching but realistically, how well does the suede hold up? If it becomes all smoothed out and shiny after a little bit of use (as you may expect) then it may just be worth plumping for the CLA. Thanks
Hey George, thanks! Glad you liked the vid! I’ve used to own an A250 for a few years and it wears absolutely fine. If you’re worried, search for a used one online that’s a few years old and have a look at the pics 👀
@@npoleary Thanks for the reply. Good to know, hadn't thought of that, will definitely give it a look and see but all the feedback I've heard so far is that it does hold up really well. Thanks man love the vids.
Wow, it looks like this video was made just for me! Thanks for this Nick, especially nice touch in using the exact models I’m looking at, the 250e 😊 I think the bigger boot might end up being a decision maker towards the CLA (besides the outer look differences), but my wife and I won’t know for certain until we test those headrests (we prefer the A-Class movable headrests). Random question: is there a way to get pulsating turn signals in any of these models? Thank you so much for this!!!
Hi Bulaxa! No problem! The unfortunately no there's only a couple of models in Mercedes-Benz that have fancy animated pulsating indicators. That aside though, I'm sure you'll love one of them! They are certainly on my Christmas list!
Go for the A250e very economical I'm getting 88mpg atm. I love the car so smooth and enjoyable ride. Only negative is that I would say it's not very comfortable for the middle seat of the rear if you have 3 people.
@@bulaxa445 I know just after I ordered my car the cla 250e came out perhaps next time I'll go for it..but if you can go for the electric, the drive is so smooth..
Mercedes have been working on a project behind the scenes but it probably won’t come to production: www.daimler.com/products/passenger-cars/mercedes-benz/glc-f-cell.html Topping up hydrogen is tricky as there aren’t many places that offer for cars
Planning to buy A200 AMG line, but little worried with the security of the car. Is the in-build immobiliser in Mercedes any good against the relay theft, key cloning, roll jamming & tow away? As compared to the Autowatch Ghost II immobiliser, Does it have the same functionality where we can set up codes using any buttons from the dashboard or wheel? What will happen to my warranty if I install the Autowatch Ghost II immobiliser in my A200 AMG line,? if you can make a video on the anti theft and the immobiliser feature of the car. Thanks!
Hi Vicky, well handily on Mercedes-Benz vehicles, you can actually press lock twice which will turn off the key itself. This will also turn off Keyless entry etc which has been recommend to combat this. Compared to another other immobilisers I wouldn’t know I’m afraid as it’s something I have never got involved in. Sorry!
Great video. Thanks! It would be interesting to know if there was any difference whatsoever in driving dynamics between the 2 models, and more detail on whether all cars are FWD or if there is a 4WD option? Also perhaps a size comparison between the CLA and the C class as the car fits directly between both models?
Honestly between the two, they drive almost the same, from personal experience of driving both I’d say the CLA Coupe is slightly firmer due to the slight lower format. Regarding specific engines and 4MATIC options best to speak with your local dealership as it can vary round the world. In the UK it’s just a front wheel drive set up as of July production this year for non AMG models. The CLA is basically a stretched coupe A-Class where as the C-Class is a completely different model 🤓 I’ll be covering the new one if I can get my hands on one, or for a sneak peek, check this first impressions video out: ruclips.net/video/E3SO0h9E0Eo/видео.html
Hey Gary705, thank you! 🤓 Sadly a VIN is a car’s identification number so should not be posted publicly. Plus I haven’t managed to film a CLA for a while, I hope to again this year!
Another great video. Would be nice to see the 250 e Shooting Brake. Any idea why when looking at leasing one they had it listed as CLA 250e AMG Line Premium Plus Tip Auto 21 and now one large lease company has it as a CLA 250e AMG Line Premium Plus Tip Auto 21b. Been wondering what the difference is.
Hi Jeff, that’s strange, 21 & 21b is definitely not a UK based spec thing. It’s not in the brochures. Have you spoken to the lease company to see what they mean by that?
Currently on the fence between getting an A class hatchback or a CLA coupe 2k upgrade. For the better look, im tempted to go for the coupe ill be honest.
They’re both amazing cars! If you can stretch to it I’d say go for it! I wanted to go for the CLA Coupe too but doubling my monthly car payment from a Vauxhall to Mercedes was enough as it was so I settled for A-Class. Still would love a CLA coupe though! 🤓 although not sure where my dog would go! 😂
@scaphk9546 no worries! I mean I can try 😅 Oh with that sort of thing, that’s quite common for dealers to do that, you can test drive one quicker before the actual one arrives. You would still be able to see the actual car though before committing to it, they’ll probably want a deposit or something but you’ll have to check with them as each dealership would be different so not sure how Mercedes would do it compared to when I bought mine. What colour is it? 🤓 I really wanted grey for mine but settled for white 😅
Very true! And valid points, totally forgot about the power domes on the bonnet! The lights are different too and yes the head room is slightly reduced in the CLA. I still prefer that one to be honest... Which one is your favourite?
Hi Nick, I have the A250e executive package. I’m just wondering why the suspension is so much higher on the hybrids. Is it to protect the battery? It is the only bug bear I have with the car.. can you retrofit the standard petrol car springs from an A class saloon to lower it? Thank you
Hi PebseyGT, Ah great question, it’s purely just squeezing in all of the hybrid components without sacrificing too much boot space. Hybrid batteries are big so the car is raised slightly, fuel tank size is reduced and boot space is reduced too. But the gains after that are amazing, you have a hybrid which travels a substantial distance in a hatchback (or saloon depending on which one you have! 😁)
@@npoleary Thank you for replying, I guess that makes sense and also undoubtedly means you can’t lower them as it’s more of a design/chassis thing rather than suspension. Never the less I absolutely love it. I have the petrol CLA previously (19plate) and this new one is worlds apart. I can’t believe the power either, very happy. I have the saloon my hatchback days are over lol
Is it worth getting the CLA 200 as it's a Renault engine? Like would you feel the difference driving a Renault and a Mercedes as they have the same engine and bhp with the 1.3l engine
Hey shoaib, Don’t worry I’ve heard this many times before but rest assured the entry level engines in the compact car range are not just "Renault engines", Mercedes and Renault have combined their efforts together to produce a very highly economical, low emission and powerful engine. One of Mercedes-Benz's best sellers at the moment! Mercedes also put their own tech and spin into it and designed Formula One technology such as Nanoslide and even cylinder shut-off called CAMTRONIC allowing the cylinders to go down to 2! None of this is found in the Renault’s engines so no, they are definitely not the same at all. Hope that answers your question!
There are some vents on the front on AMG Line variants which are functional, they make the car more streamlined and reduce drag at speed. However on some places for example on the exhausts, there are cut outs for the exhausts to look slightly more sportier than the Trims lines underneath this (Sport & SE) AMG Line trims have cut outs in the bodywork but actually the real exhaust is underneath. You’ll usually have visible exhausts on most Mercedes-AMG models 🤓
Hi Sarwat Salem, Unfortunately no not sure, it’s rumoured to be soon. Mercedes-Benz usually announce new models etc approx 6 months prior to actually seeing them. Spy shots online are usually a good indication something in the works!
Absolutely! The CLA design is based on the A-Class and has been out since summer 2019 (the A-Class the year before). It’s easily one of Mercedes-Benz’s most popular models! I might be covering the CLA model soon! Keep an eye out on the channel 🤓
Hey Ralph! Thank you glad you liked the video! I’m eagerly waiting on the new C-Class to come out, although if you haven’t seen it, I managed to have a quick short time with the new model: ruclips.net/video/E3SO0h9E0Eo/видео.html Honestly comparing the two, they are on completely different levels with the C-Class offering more tech, more room and more luxury.
I just want to know what's the difference between CLA coupe plug-in hybrid CLA Coupe any video as to compare so I can watch like always I like your videos
Hey Vency, Sadly haven’t managed to get my hands on one but basically one has hybrid technology with the ability to run on electric with an engine as well and the other is just an engine on it’s own. I’d love to make a video if I get my hands on one! Thank you glad you enjoy the videos!
Im more of a bmw guy but the new 1 series is just disappointing , the a class and cla looks frickin amazing im a single guy withoit kids so it doesn t matter for rear space i really like the boxy look of the a class like an e class and the coupe body ovmf the cla . Stunning
Yeah sorry! 😅 Last year when I went to film this video, most of the UK was being moved into Tier 4 restrictions 🙁 (lockdown restrictions) I wanted to try and keep to my weekly schedule and had to film really early in the morning and the sun rose as time went on
@@npoleary It was great! 😃 I'd like to see a comparison, or rather your personal opinion/recommendation, between different engines as well. I'm just about to purchase a 2021 CLA, but I can't decide between the CLA250 4matic or the CLA250e (is it 4matic too?). Which one would you pick? Thanks for providing great videos by the way. 👍
Ah awesome! Ooo that’s a tough one...I’ve owned a car with that 250 engine before and it was amazing...however running costs on the hybrid would be considerably less if you do lots of shorter journeys under 40 miles. To gain the most from that car, you’ll of course need to plug it in but most importantly you don’t have to complete your journey. But you will want to because driving on electric is great. Your choice Martin at the end of the day! I wouldn’t mind either!
@@npoleary Sweet, thanks! It will be driven for shorter distances mostly (work back and forth), so the hybrid is definitely a good contender. However, I'm a bit afraid of maintenance costs since the hybrid contain two engine types and a battery that will degrade over time. At the same time, hybrid engines seems a bit more future proof considering where car technology is currently going. Gaah, it's such a though one 🤣😃
Hey Tuka, That was my pinned comment at the top for the rear seats :) The rear headroom is slightly different between the two as well. These measurements are from the rear seat to the roof lining in each model: 908mm in the Coupe 944mm in the A-Class Saloon So all in all, slightly more headroom in the A-Class Saloon 🤓
Hey Ashvin, I pinned a comment at the top with the rear head space dimensions: 908mm in the Coupe 944mm in the A-Class Saloon Suspensions can vary but it purely depends on the model (the engine variant). All CLA’s in the UK have a multi link suspension set up where as A-Class’s have two types. Typically in most cases A 180 & A 200’s have a torsion beam where as the faster models will feature multi link. Hope that helps!
Question, my CLA 2021 (love it) came with the Premium Package but did not come with the Multi Media Package. Since the car is ready for Navigation (it has parking assist with front camera) is there anyway my dealer could add this on or does it has to come from the factory with this option for it work?
great comparison!! I'm very passionate about cars, especially cars for ppl who love driving if that make sens..short story long..I been with mazda for years and I love them atm I'm on new 3 for last 2 years..although thinks to brake kinda boredom and try something else ..I love latest merc design for me is second fav after mazda..I'm heavily thinking of get cla or a class hatch as ..I watch dozens of tests on yt often some interior quality of materials and assembly issues are pointed and noise insulation..is that real thing? also question to owners is reliability comparable to mazda ,toyota? did you came across many issues with A class as general... soon I'll go for few test drives with local mercedes dealer...i just want to dig deep before I'll make any decisions 😀..thanks so much for every comments back!!!
Hey Rob, that’s right yes there are loads of different views on YT but the most important thing is that the person presenting usually is giving their own views. Same for me too! :) And possibly what they’re used to on cars might be something high end and lots of money. If you compare the build quality of an A-Class to others in the same category like other hatchbacks, build quality is amazing. However if you compare the build quality of an A-Class to like an S-Class or even E-Class, then yes there will be a difference. I’ve owned three and miss them all! Miss the A250 AMG the most! 😜
@@npoleary thanks for reply!!! and yes agree merc with all classes above it's a different story although I don't want, need nor like big cars as every day driving parking around Oxford ( in my case) is way easier with compact cars which also they comfy enough for longer travel and small family of 3 as we are. I must admit I'm in love in recent mercedes design talking of body shape and interior no competition atm imo. thanks a lot for wise and honest response ( advise)...I'm kinda ocd personality 😅 hate changes as I'm driving mazdas for last 20 years...maybe it's time to try something unexpected and different 😉..btw your channel is classy and very informative...keep it going..👍
Beautiful review! Loved the camera work. Keep producing more! Which has better seating experience? Will a 6 feet person be able to sit comfortably in the rear in both the cars? And generally which amoong these two would you prefer if 4 people would travel. Thank you
Thanks Gandhi! Glad you enjoyed it! Oh I will! Next one goes live tomorrow at 4pm! I’m 6ft 2” and I can sit comfortably in the back of both cars. There is more headroom in the A-Class saloon (one of the things I forgot to mention) so for that reason if I were a rear passenger I would choose the A-Class Saloon. To buy one however I like coupe look with the sloping roof so I’d go for the CLA.
Hey Guys, one last comparison! The rear headroom is slightly different between the two as well.

Is the CLA long? Looks quite small to me when I’m seeing videos/images of it
Wouldn’t say it’s long, it’s based on the A-Class but just has a curvy roof to give a sleek design. The Coupe is 4,695mm compared to the A-Class which is 4,419mm 🤓
The seats in the Saloon in my opinion, are more comfortable, although the electric seats in both options have now been removed which is a real shame. Thank you! 🙏
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for explaining the differences between the two models Nick - very informative 👌
No problem Mark! Glad you liked it :)
Brilliant video! Thank you!
Very informative! especially not many talk about the difference in engine and amg vs sports option! ty
Thank you! Glad you liked the video! 🤓
Thanks for the excellent and detailed review. I think I prefer the CLA, and look forward to being able to test drive one as soon as the country opens up!
Ah awesome Maxima! Glad you liked it! I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!
Went for the a class saloon A250e - smaller yet more interior space outweighs a bigger boot and coupe look. I actually prefer the a class saloon look!
Ah awesome! A Plug-in Hybrid! How are you finding it? 🤓
@@npoleary Collecting it next week!
Great comparison, thank you. Do you think that it is still good idea to buy CLA coupe instead of expensive EV?
Hey IT learner, thank you! Well it’s down to preference 🤓
EV’s cost more upfront but running costs afterward are significantly less.
If you’re torn, you could always go half and get a CLA Plug-in Hybrid 🤓
Helpful video - thanks.
Great video , Just ordered my first Mercedes , but the prices are a lot more here in Ireland compared to the uk , looking forward to February to get my A class saloon amg line with the night package 2.0 diesel automatic
Very nice! I’m sure you’ll love it! 🤓
Absolutely! I know it’s in the compact cars, A-Class etc
I’ll have a look when I do another Tips & Tricks and see which exact models do have it. And yes defo! I’ll include it on the next tips and tricks (probably next year)
It's meant for keeping the manual stored there if I'm not mistaken! A really neat feature 👍😃
The secret compartment is for storing the manual and mine was already in there when I collected my car.
Really helpful! I’ll be in touch for a test drive. Thank yku
Great video. Bought the CLA and I love it. Thanks
wish i saw this video sooner would've saved me weeks worth of research
Aha 🤓
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍🏼
great video! also worth to call out the head room is lesser in CLA :)
Absolutely! Only very slightly though but yes because of the coupé styled roof it slopes down more at the rear 🤓
perfect review, subscribed!
Thank you! 🤓
Great video. Only thing unanswered for me would be the rear seat space, specifically with car seats in mind. The decision for me might depend on whether i can get a bulky rear facing car seat in the CLA or not
Thank you! 🙏
The roof does slope down quite a bit in the CLA so A-Class saloon might better on that part 🤓
The CLA has borderless windows so the opening might be a little smaller as the roofline cuts in to get a child seat in through the open door (if that makes sense)
It’ll go in but I feel from memory there probably would be more room on the saloon
Great video as usual Nick . Thanks for sharing all the good information.
No problem! Glad you enjoyed it! 🤓
i personally like cla , but sometimes need it for business use and pick up parents, A250 may be more suitable and practical.
Well explained Nick, certainly helped me understand as they are so close.
Ah awesome! Thank you 😊
Glad you liked the comparison!
I have to A250e and would say that the rear passengers do have much more head room than the cla.. saying that I think the shooting brake version is one of the most stylish of its kind.
Oh yeah it’s a very stylish one! Have to agree with you on that!
Love my CLA! - have it in the same metallic grey as your video. Have had it since September
That means by now you’ve mastered all of the buttons right? 👀
Ooo that’s interesting! I’d be curious to see the factory spec sheet! I’d keep quiet on that one! 😅
Great video Nick 🔥
Thank you! 🤓
I drive my denim blue premium plus CLA up and down just north of Glasgow beside Loch Lomond ....It makes me fell very special. Hope you all enjoy, as I do.
Another lovely video. Thank you! 🤗
Thank you Lightning Farron! 👍🏼👍🏼
Glad I picked my new CLA this July!
Awesome Bryan! What colour did you go for?
@@npoleary Black - with black/grey interior - with the premium pack. Far better ride than my previous GLA.
Awesome!
Now that was an interesting video, many thanks for making it. My knowledge or the Mercedes is very poor so I'll be taking notes on what you say!
Thank you David! Glad you liked it! 🤓
Hi, great video as always. Quick couple of questions: can the panoramic sunroof be partially opened or is it all or nothing? Are the seat adjustments now manual only even on premium plus? Thanks.
Hey Satila,
Thank you! Yes you can open it partially, it doesn’t have to be opened fully.
With actual specification, best to speak with your local Mercedes and they can let you know for sure.
Hope that helps!
Great video. Please do one for the CLA Coupé VS CLA Shooting Brake
Thank you very much!
Great video. Very informative .have the CLA and it's a lovely car
Awesome! Still got the CLA on my Christmas List! 🎁🤓 haha
Loved the reviews can you please do a little more on these cars leg room in the rear please not sure which to get with kids thanks again keep up the good work
Thanks for the suggestion H H!
Will do, I’ll incorporate that for future vids!
Great video nick!! I just wanted to ask which model would be really smooth to drive?
amg a180 saloon or the a200 sports?
Going to order a class saloon in 2 weeks!!
Aha cool!
Both are identical, both 1.3L engines except the A180 is 136hp and the A200 is 163hp. Just has a bit more power in case you need it.
@@martinjennings4153 do you have instagram?
CLA model is such a beautiful car, wish I could buy one....
You will one day! 😎👊🏼
A class is the best choice for me
But CLA looks better (mine opinion👍🏼)
Great video, thanks ! I myself had compared the two cars when I considered buying one of them, I preferred the coupé look of CLA but A-Class Sedan seemed to me a somewhat "fresher" car, if you know what I mean. Unfortunately I was unable to find either of them in the 4matic version on prompt delivery so I finished purchasing a C220d Coupé 4matic.
Awesome C 220d Coupe’s are so nice to drive!
Great presentation, very well explained!! Many Thanks, Peace From London. 🙏🙏
Thank you! 🙏
Thanks for this Nick, especially nice touch in using the exact models I’m looking at, the 250e 😊
I think the bigger boot might end up being a decision maker towards the CLA (besides the outer look differences), but my wife and I won’t know for certain until we test those headrests (we prefer the A-Class movable headrests).
@@plantwrate the CLA also has the 250e variant so I can choose it either as an A Class or as a CLA.
@@bulaxa445 I know just after I ordered my car the cla 250e came out perhaps next time I'll go for it..but if you can go for the electric, the drive is so smooth..
Is Benz has plans to go for a combination of an electric & gas fed? Hope you can have one
Mercedes have been working on a project behind the scenes but it probably won’t come to production: www.daimler.com/products/passenger-cars/mercedes-benz/glc-f-cell.html
Topping up hydrogen is tricky as there aren’t many places that offer for cars
Love it how he never talks about the "exhausts".
Hey Kimm, not much to talk about to be honest! 😅 The actual exhaust is underneath, not really visible unless you get right down and look underneath
You made my decision to buy the A class saloon ever firmer. Thanks mate!
Ah awesome! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! 🤓🙏
The CLA is basically a stretched coupe A-Class where as the C-Class is a completely different model 🤓
I’ll be covering the new one if I can get my hands on one, or for a sneak peek, check this first impressions video out: ruclips.net/video/E3SO0h9E0Eo/видео.html
Hi Nick, your videos are fantastic. Would you be able to give me a VIN for the CLA200 with night package option?
Hey Gary705, thank you! 🤓
Sadly a VIN is a car’s identification number so should not be posted publicly.
Plus I haven’t managed to film a CLA for a while, I hope to again this year!
Can't wait for me CLA hybrid to arrive. Don't get it until March 2021 unfortunately.
Wooo! Sounds awesome! Trust me it’ll be worth the wait!
Thanks Nick.
No problem Mark!
Great video thank you easy to understand and the information given was dead on what i needed to know
Thanks Jeanette! 🤓
Plus that a modell has more headroom at the back!!!
@scaphk9546 no worries!
I mean I can try 😅
Oh with that sort of thing, that’s quite common for dealers to do that, you can test drive one quicker before the actual one arrives.
@npoleary just agreed to a purchase of the CLA coupé! I've tried to haggle, managed to knock off £250 🤣 was gonna go for more but they wouldn't budge
Lovely video but would of mentioned the headroom difference in the rear and the different design headlamps and extra line on the bonnet
Very true! And valid points, totally forgot about the power domes on the bonnet! The lights are different too and yes the head room is slightly reduced in the CLA. I still prefer that one to be honest...
Which one is your favourite?
@@npoleary In July 2019 I took delivery of the CLA 220 premium plus with driving assistance in mountain grey. I absolutely love it
Amazing! All the gadgets from the sounds of it!
Very good
Hi Nick, I have the A250e executive package. I’m just wondering why the suspension is so much higher on the hybrids. Is it to protect the battery? It is the only bug bear I have with the car.. can you retrofit the standard petrol car springs from an A class saloon to lower it?
Thank you
Hi PebseyGT,
Ah great question, it’s purely just squeezing in all of the hybrid components without sacrificing too much boot space. Hybrid batteries are big so the car is raised slightly, fuel tank size is reduced and boot space is reduced too.
But the gains after that are amazing, you have a hybrid which travels a substantial distance in a hatchback (or saloon depending on which one you have! 😁)
@@npoleary
Thank you for replying, I guess that makes sense and also undoubtedly means you can’t lower them as it’s more of a design/chassis thing rather than suspension. Never the less I absolutely love it. I have the petrol CLA previously (19plate) and this new one is worlds apart. I can’t believe the power either, very happy. I have the saloon my hatchback days are over lol
Ah! Very nice! I know this car’s on my radar fro my next one! Would absolutely love one!
@@npoleary brilliant reply. Thank you!!
thanks for the comparison- an you teII me if both modeIs have fake exhausts or vents at the front? are they cosmetic or functionaI? thanks!
I love my CLA!!
🥳
They are amazing! Wish I had one! One day...
Any news about the new C class ? When it will be released ? And leak photos ?
Hi Sarwat Salem,
Unfortunately no not sure, it’s rumoured to be soon. Mercedes-Benz usually announce new models etc approx 6 months prior to actually seeing them. Spy shots online are usually a good indication something in the works!
Would the CLA 200 be considered a reliable car long term?
With all the new tech/electronics
Absolutely! The CLA design is based on the A-Class and has been out since summer 2019 (the A-Class the year before). It’s easily one of Mercedes-Benz’s most popular models!
I might be covering the CLA model soon! Keep an eye out on the channel 🤓
Nick thanks another great video sometime in the future are you going to do the New S class real premium car
Hi Martin! Oh yes I will! Just need to get my hands on one first!
Thnx ur informative video. Can u pls compare cla vs c class ?
Hey Ralph! Thank you glad you liked the video!
I’m eagerly waiting on the new C-Class to come out, although if you haven’t seen it, I managed to have a quick short time with the new model: ruclips.net/video/E3SO0h9E0Eo/видео.html
Honestly comparing the two, they are on completely different levels with the C-Class offering more tech, more room and more luxury.
Cla all day
I will go for the CLA.
Woooo! 😇
I’m sure you’ll love it!
I just want to know what's the difference between CLA coupe plug-in hybrid CLA Coupe any video as to compare so I can watch like always I like your videos
Hey Vency,
Sadly haven’t managed to get my hands on one but basically one has hybrid technology with the ability to run on electric with an engine as well and the other is just an engine on it’s own.
Stunning
CLA very nice
Really useful video. Weird how it was dark at the beginning but bright at the end, all nighter? 😂
Yeah sorry! 😅
Last year when I went to film this video, most of the UK was being moved into Tier 4 restrictions 🙁 (lockdown restrictions)
I wanted to try and keep to my weekly schedule and had to film really early in the morning and the sun rose as time went on
Well it almost seems like it was filmed in one night! Looks fantastic and the extra effort has helped my decision on which 250e to get
Wooo! What colour have you decided on?
So I can get a CLA at a better price Mercedes is amazing !
Oh.. This is awesome 😃 Thanks Nick 👍
Awesome! Glad you liked it! 🤓
What grey color is that on the CLA? Im not this big of a car guy. Is it the regular mercedes grey?
In the compact car range yes, it’s called Mountain Grey Metallic. It’s the only grey metallic paint found on these models 😇
Rear seat comfortable/ space? Would think that’s one of the biggest differences
Hey Tuka,
That was my pinned comment at the top for the rear seats :)
The rear headroom is slightly different between the two as well.
These measurements are from the rear seat to the roof lining in each model:
908mm in the Coupe
944mm in the A-Class Saloon
So all in all, slightly more headroom in the A-Class Saloon 🤓
What about head space at rear and rear suspensions?
Hey Ashvin,
I pinned a comment at the top with the rear head space dimensions:
908mm in the Coupe
944mm in the A-Class Saloon
Suspensions can vary but it purely depends on the model (the engine variant).
Hi Phillip Connolly,
Really sorry I don't know about that one, are you based in the UK? I haven't heard of a Multi Media package before!
@@npoleary I am in the US. Yeah I thought it was weird too. If you find anything out regarding that I would greatly appreciate it.
great comparison!! I'm very passionate about cars, especially cars for ppl who love driving if that make sens..short story long..I been with mazda for years and I love them
atm I'm on new 3 for last 2 years..although thinks to brake kinda
boredom and try something else ..I love latest merc design for me is second fav after mazda..I'm heavily thinking of get cla or a class hatch as ..I watch dozens of tests on yt often some interior quality of materials and assembly issues are pointed and noise insulation..is that real thing?
also question to owners is reliability comparable to mazda ,toyota? did you came across many issues with A class as general...
soon I'll go for few test drives with local mercedes dealer...i just want to dig deep before I'll make any decisions 😀..thanks so much for every comments back!!!
Hey Rob, that’s right yes there are loads of different views on YT but the most important thing is that the person presenting usually is giving their own views. Same for me too! :)
And possibly what they’re used to on cars might be something high end and lots of money.
