Brilliantly beautiful 💎❤️💙🧡🙏🏼
Thank you so much!
I never grow tired of watching you do this.🙂
haha that's sweet! 🥰
Where have you been my whole life?! Your channel is AMAZING!! Thank you for sharing your cool techniques with us Nitsa!
Haha that's cute!! Thank you Ana 🥰
Great prints!
❤ The print with the street lamp is my favorite also ! But the others were fantastic :-)
I don't usually give my age, but when volunteering at the church office in the early 60s we used a Hectograph gel duplicator for weekly announcements :-) I was in high school then.
Thank you Gloria! I actually never heard of the Hectograph before and had to look it up. wow! this is so very interesting. thank you for introducing me to this interesting process which is actually quite similar 🥰
Thank you! Looks so fun and satifying.
It is! Its quite addicting as well 😅
Thank you very much.
🌹🤗
Beautiful results
thank you! 🤗
Superbe. Bravo👏🦋🦋
Thank you 😊
Is it essential to use gel as a base? Would plexiglass or glass work as well?
Great video!
Thank you. Great idea, I might just try plexiglass sometime soon. I think it will probably work but with different appearance. It should be interesting to see 👍
I have used glass from a photo frame. It works fine.
@@cricketbee7823 oh thanks I'll have a go!
Beautiful!! Do you feel contrasty images work best?
Yes, absolutely! thank you 🌼
Do you use plain copy paper to laser print your photos? Or do you use a heavier copy paper? Thanks!
She uses plain copy paper - I asked also in a FB group!
correct 😃 I use plain copy paper
does monoprint works with regular photo or it need to be printed in paper?
If anyone is having problems getting the laser-printed images to transfer to the Gelli-plate try using brochure gloss paper instead of matte/standard copy paper. It works so much better!
Which brochure paper are you using? I tried HP Gloss Brochure Paper, and it did work much better, But after just a few prints it started to ruin the surface of my gel plate. Can you give me any insight? Thanks in advance for any help.
bnsp51 I used the Office Max brand thats for inkjet and laser printers. Its so potent it takes seconds to transfer so I dont leave it on the plate for long. I also wipe the plate clean after a few transfers as it will start to creat heavy build up and ghost imaging. I figured the plate will eventually die soon but the results are so worth it lol. Hope this helps!
@@3KYA Thanks, Z. What do you wipe it clean with? A baby wipe?
Barbara Spafford you’re welcome! I just use a damp paper towel and lightly use a dry one behind it. Its been working pretty well so far lol.
Z, I tried my HP paper again with the intent of just leaving it on plate a few seconds. But the second the edge of the paper touched the plate, it stuck like it was glue and ripped the plate getting it off. I'm in search of a less "potent" gloss paper that won't eat my plate:) Thanks again for your help.
One other question. I have a piece of mixed media that I have completed but I want to try and print directly on it if I can get the process to work. Have you tried this? Any help would be appreciated.
Yes, I like to gel print my image onto tissue paper and then mount it onto the piece. The tissue paper sort of disappears and the image blends in very nicely 😀
Do you have a source for those great black and white images or did you just use your own photos?
Yes, these are all my own photos 😃 Thank you!
Hi Nitsa, I love your videos and your art work, it inspired me to try my hand at monoprinting. I went out and bought the same gel plate you use in this video, but I can't make the image adhere to the gel plate. I'm using the same materials, technique you use but so far no luck. Is this a common problem when starting out with this medium?
Hi Robert, this is a great question!! And yes, it is a very common problem. Its not a difficult process but it takes time and practice to get it to work. (It even took me about a month to develop this process 😅 )
Like so many other people I'm struggling to produce an image on my homemade gel plate. It will do the usual stuff like printing shapes , magazines etc but it won't take an image off my laser printed copies, I just get a black page. I've used printers ink and good acrylics, both transfer ok but not when it comes to inkjet images. The acrylic paints you use do they contain a lot of extender?
Homemade gel plates won't transfer inkjet prints in my experience, you need to use laser prints or toner based photocopies 👍
Please clarify - LASER printer? Which one do you have please? I got zero via a laser print on copy paper. Nor with ink jet. I have tried so many techniques to get this and nada. Thank you for your time!
I used HP LaserJet for this session, but I also got good results from different copiers, so I don't think it matters as long as you use laser or toner based copy machines. It's more important what type of paints you are using and how much paint. Also try to print your photos darker than normal. And maybe start with magazine images before trying the photos.
The same for me : it doesn't work at all with laser copies (I use the same paint as she) ... :(
It also took me some experimenting to get it right. There are a few variables involved and like I mentioned before its also important how much paint is used. so don't give up yet and maybe try to transfer magazine pages first.
@@NitsaCreativeStudio Do you use a monochrome laser printer and which model? Thank you so much!
@@edithtsacle5257 I have an old HP LaserJet, and yes it's monochrome 👍
Thanks for this. You always have interesting music. Can you tell me what this track is? Thank you.
It's Sản Phẩm by dai kieu 👍
I bought the same printer as you have, printed black and white photos from the Internet. It is not working for me. Nothing is being left on the plate when I pull the print. Any suggestions?
It's hard to tell without seeing all the steps in your process. But try changing things around in your process. Sometimes it can be something simple like too much or too little paint 😃 Good luck!! 👍
@@NitsaCreativeStudio thanks for answering. I have the same printers you. I use a little paint or I use more paint and it still doesn't work. I'll keep trying.
I tried this and also had a problem with it. I think it much be different paper to paper brand. Can you tell me what brand of copy paper you use please. I'd like to duplicate your process as closely as possible to see if it's user error :).
I print on Office Depot copy & print paper (20 lb) 👍
Does it help to put the laser copy on the plate while ink on copy is still wet? I really enjoy your videos, but have been unable to get this technique to work. Magazines are very easy to do. I also tried printing my photo on glossy brochure paper, which works pretty well, but it damaged the surface of my plate. I’m using quality paint. Any suggestions? Thanks and keep the videos coming!
The laser copy doesn't have to be fresh. There could be a number of reasons the transfer doesn't work. And it's difficult to tell without following each one of the steps in your process.
Try to change things and play with different elements in your process to find the winning combination 😀
I have found that using glossy brochure/photo paper is the problem - it seems to stick to the Gelli too much and when you try to pull off the photo paper , pieces of the Gelli pad stick to the photo paper. Your Gelli is now damaged but not lost - put it in a plastic bowl and microwave on high for 2 minutes - the Gelli will now be entirely liquid - pour it in a glass or ceramic baking dish 8 x 10 approx and stick it in the fridge for 2 hours. Using your fingers - separate the edge and slowing pull out your new Gelli pad.
@@nrich5127 Can you melt the Gelli Plate you can buy online? Or only the homemade?
I don't think you should melt down a commercial plate, they are made of silicone not gelatin
@@NitsaCreativeStudio I stand corrected - I will delete my reply - thank you for your info.
Hi Nitsa, I've been enjoying your how to videos. I have been practicing your techniques but am running into some problems with mono printing my laser printed photos. I use a Brother Lazer Printer and multipurpose paper. The toner appears dark - not as dark as yours, but my transfers are super light and sometime I get nothing. I am using Amsterdam, and liquitex paint. My magazine transfers are pretty good but also not as dark as I would like. I have tried using more paint but with terrible results. If I use thin paint the transfers are faint. I have tried different types of paper and have noticed some are better than others. Please make some suggestions regarding my comments. I know its difficult to tell without seeing my process and results but if you can give me some tips that would be great! BTW - Are you on FaceBook? If yes what is your Face Book name? I would like to send you a friend request. Thanks!
I actually think you are on the right track! It sounds like you're doing everything right, you probably just need to figure out the right combination between the amount of paint and pressure. For now, let the image dry on your plate and then lift it with a light color, white or yellow work best. See if that works better for you. Btw, what brand gel plate are you using?
@@NitsaCreativeStudio Thanks for your reply. I will try living with the light colors you recommended. Thanks again for the recommendation! I am using Gelli. Do you think I should switch to Gel Press? I noticed that is the brand you use. I sent you a Face Book friend request - my name is Kezia.
How were the photos printed?
They were printed with a laser printer
Very nice, but you know what is more impressive? You didn't get paint any where. I am so messy!
haha that's funny! I'm very neat, sometimes too neat...
