Decluttering into 2021

- It's good to be back and to kick off 2021 with a decluttering episode I had tons of fun doing. I needed a break to reflect and tune out noise and distraction, hence a 30 day social media break that then fueled a burning desire to do a round of decluttering. Even though I've really pared down my possessions in the past 5 years of embracing minimalism, I'm finding there's always room to declutter....unless you're a monk. They are true minimalists. Enjoy!
Hope this inspires you to do a deep clean of your space and mentally check-in with yourself. Start your 2021 with more clarity and intention by decluttering your life and creating mental space for reflection.
And to guide your reflections, maybe you want to ponder these below:
What's something you can let go of from 2020? Physically/emotionally?
What are your goals for 2021? Why are they your goals?
What kind of person do you need to become to achieve these goals?
Nothing like contemplating some big hairy questions to kick off a new near year eh?
Anyway, I'm feeling really good about the new year. Super cool stuff been happening I'll have to credit the Law of Attraction doing its magic. More content coming, stay tuned!
Happy 2021!
Deanna

Hi Deanna - The algorithm led me to your channel and I am not mad at it lol. Congratulations on launching your RUclips channel in 2020 and I look forward to seeing your content. I like your honest and candid perspective and how you are sharing this with the world. :-)
Wow I think you are one of the most talented and genuinely nice and down to earth minimalism content creators! hope to see more from you
I know the rock thing. 😆 I laughed so hard at this.
Deanna girlll you have a beautiful aura 🌸Your authenticity shines through the screen✨ I resonate with your energy and I look forward to more of your content in the future 🌀 more power and love to you, sis 💕
Rocks are beautiful. There's something incredibly organic and grounding about them. And their detail is truly dazzling-all the tiny crystals they contain. I tried my best to collect them as a child, but my folks were kind of indifferent to it at the time. I wish I could've kept them, so I love that you gift them! Great video
Glad to see you back. Your channel has potential: funny, upbeat, not too long vids and you don't take yourself too seriously. Looking forward for your new videos
I once kept a rock I found from the square of my barracks when I did Mandatory Military Service. Ended up throwing it away after a few years when I needed to detach myself from it and move on with my life. Plenty of memories that rock.
There's so much more work to do before I get to this point: I am an avid collector of music. So many albums are important to me, and I couldn't imagine getting rid of them. Trouble is, there's so much here, and though they are stored neatly it is still a lot of time spent in care and maintenance of the collection. I even have a blog about music and so there's more time and energy. The struggle is real.
I have done two major culls already, over 1700 items, but as it gets whittled down to the core of the collection, which is still now over 3000 items, I balk at losing any more. I do play them. They do make me happy. Many have stories to them, some are now impossible to replace. I love the tactile nature of the LP listening experience, for example, so having it all digital would not be my thing at all. But it's still so much stuff and so much clutter mentally and visually and physically.
Committing to getting rid of more in the name of minimalism feels like asking me to give up part of myself, of what I actually enjoy, of what I've spent time doing for the past 30 years. And I know that no one is telling me I have to do this, it's just that as I feel the pull towards having less (it's quite strong), I struggle with actually getting rid of many of these things.
On the plus side, YT is my only social. I've never had a Facebook or Instagram or Snapchat or Twitter or anything. So there's peace of mind there, big-time.
Thanks for being raw and honest about sometimes thinking to dwelling on the future and your career. I’m experiencing a lot of the same mental conflict right now.
I really like your style to dress, talk and make your videos! Great work :)
I’m definitely going to declutter that old bookshelf with old textbooks and old books and things I never look at anymore but held onto all these years.
Giving rocks to people has a good
point. Besides if you later do not
want one or them then just put it
back in nature. Easy way of getting
rid of it. Nature to nature. Some
rocks are very beautiful.
So happy for you. Looking forward to your videos now 💕
Finally someone who is into minimalism an can also joke about it. Thank. You. Also: I get rocks all the time from my daughter. Rocks adorable ladybugs were painted on. Rocks with her name and glitter on them. There is absolutely no joy in getting rid of them or in the whole process of explaining "minimalism" = "you can not keep 10 rocks" to my child :P
i am starting to stay home and stay focus and spend two hours daily to get things done
After getting hung up on sentimental attachment my next hurdle is always 'will I need this in the future?!' - I then sit there in some kind of trance trying to synthesize the possibilities of how I would be using this thing!! Argh!
Happy 2021! Glad to see you back
good luck on your journey! happy 2021
Glad to see you back!
Ah!! I’m so excited to watch this!
I enjoy your pragmatic approach to minimalism.
"Letting go of our preconceived ideas and beliefs of how the world works and how we should be in it... " amen. Congrats on the job! Oh btw, the vision board didn't work out for me.. but it did lead me to things that do work out for me. It's been an interesting process! Meanwhile I've been decluttering and letting go of sentimental items too.... space... to breathe... and to grow.. space.
You know, the vision board didn't work for me either so no worries. I get it. A few months past and I've decided I don't really care for a couple of things on there but some of the things, I'm still striving for...so...valuable lesson learned...go with the flow and keep fine tuning our goals.
@@DeannaVy Yes, and maybe it suits me a little bit better to fine tune my intentions.. instead of goals.. or maybe a bit of both. :) figuring life out as we live it.. bless you.
Just found your channel. Love your attitude/personality. Keep it up!
Great video. Sounds like you
are getting rid of things the
right way by selling or... Far
better than taking them to a
charity shop ( like people do
in USA), then much of the stuff
ends in landfills. I enjoyed this
video. Greetings from a Swiss
minimalist.
Just checked your instagram feed yesterday and now there's wonderful new video!
Thank you! So happy you're here! :)
Your channel's name change threw me. I was like, "Deanna Vy? Haven't heard of her but that lady's picture looks familiar 🤔"
I'm glad you're back 😀 Looking forward to what you post next 👍
You and your videos are cool
I’ve collected rocks since I was kid and now I rock climb for fun. You bet your ass I still find rocks from various trips that I have to keep 😂
Fantastic video I really enjoyed this 👌🏾 can I ask you where you got that small black table from in the beginning of the video? 😍 Thank you 😊
I took it from my dad so that's not helpful but I'm sure you can find something similar on amazon if you have access to it where you are!
You know what? I think I need a break too lol
Hey.. young Tom Riddle had 7 rocks on his window cill .. those were pretty important rocks xD
mental cluttering , start with forgiving. ask yourself what person am I holding in contempt. is there a need to be humble and make peace with someone, and admit that you to need to be forgiven, and forgive yourself for not being perfect. we need to look in that mirror and lovingly talk to that little girl inside. say today I am going to take your hand and we are going to sit outside and i am going to show you gods creation . and i want you to know no one will ever yell at you again. your my child. or whatever happened to you as a child your going to be there for that inner child.
I just yesterday had the thought “do the rocks go on the move (across the country) list?”
Similar ... I found three while packing and not sure why I have them. They could go in the passageway outside to be among their kind really. Rather than being packed.
Where can I buy a little folding table?
Amazon has plenty of varieties if you search "folding bed/floor table"...hope you're able to find! :)
You are sooooo cute!
What are your thoughts about using Signal app and deleting WhatsApp 🤔?
