    This might be true for North America but for many parts of the world the WR is the only option as many countries require a trail bike to be road registered in order to ride the state forests (for insurance reasons). In Australia you would likely find 90% of sales are the WR for this reason. Also some countries don't have the restricted ECU that north America has. For example the Australian delivered WR has the tuneable ECU via BT app (which I believe is the same as the FX). North America gets a locked ECU on the WR.

      We also get headlights and tail light on the recent fx models.
      Enduro events and competitions using public land require registration in AU as well as State forrests
      Like the idea of the FX but will stick to my wr as they can confiscate your bike here in West AU on public land if not licensed

    You are right for the most part, but a WR250F can be made faster than a YZ250FX if you want it to be. There are a ton of aftermarket parts available. My WR250F had the free mods and some GYTR mods added before I got it, but I added a JD jetting kit for the carb. It's almost too fast once it hits about 4-5k RPM. The guy that I bought the bike from told me it was too fast for him.

    Thank you for doing this video.
    The specs of the 2 bikes is different for different countries.
    So everyone has to talk to their Yamaha dealer and look the specs up for themselves.
    Many of the Yamaha's I understand cannot be used with tuning app in Canada. In some states or maybe in Australia you have to have lights to do an enduro race. Some come with different gearing,.... and other parts also.

    interesting .. I have the wr250f but wish I had the ecu and ability to use the app to set maps, like just about all of them after 2019 do. I have been on some trail and a couple of mx tracks. I had a blast on the mx tracks even though I am completely new to that. Lifelong mt biker and road racer. I am pulled in all kinds of directions about engine size, enhancing performance, etc. I wasn't aware that the wr and fx were so close. Honestly not happy with the clutch/transmission of the wr much. It can be hard to shift, and sometimes a nightmare to just get into neutral, .. from day one. If the fx's felt better, that would be a plus in its column. I would throw a recluuse on it, but am not sure I am going to keep the wr. So ... more riding to see how it goes. I know I could add the map switch, competetion ecu, and wireless connectivity piece, but like you said the transmissions are different. Might end up with the FX just cause my bike is so new and i could sell it and switch pretty easily. I don't think I would miss the headlight, tailight, etc .. but initially, my thinking was (as it would be easy in Ohio), that I could make it street legal and do short commutes on it from time to time, .. or just ride it to the trails and back, instead of having to trailer it. All that seems like folly now. I bought a black widow tray for the back of my highlander and that works great .. so no need for a trailer. Like the video, and the input, thanks.

      Agreed. They are good in different ways because they’re designed to do different things.
      The FX is a woods/off-road weapon. It’s designed with closed course GNCC type competition in mind. No lights or street legal equipment needed there, it’s just extra weight. The closer ratio transmission is perfect for the woods.
      The WR is a trail/enduro bike, where you do some single track but then may need to hop on the road for a few miles to transit to the next section of trail. So that’s where you absolutely have to have lights, and a transmission that can be happy at 55+mph for a little while.

      You are correct, the difference is suspension valving, lights, odometer, skid plate and spark arrester.
      Everything else on the two bikes is the same.

      if i had to choose between them i will buy the wr250r, it can be road legal(as far as i saw here) and you can remove unnecessary items, like stock exhaust etc... night riding wont be a problem at all with headlights

    C'mon. I have a 250fx and I almost never use 6th gear. 5 spd is fine for trail riding, stop crying about it. I'd rather have a 250F with an 18" rear wheel and revalved suspension then that fat arse slug WR.

    • @vegasromaniac
      @vegasromaniac  4 года назад

      The first gear on the f it's terrible, and after you install a new sprocket kit you fix that and you can go 50 mph at 12k rpm, I've been there.. The fx it's a wr . Without the light cables and exhaust, face it.. Wr it's a great bike. M fx it's better
