I think this is the first version of this storyline and plot. We have seen so many versions of this storyline it's ridiculous. But I'm not going to lie, whether in historical or modern dramas, the actor that plays the male lead, I don't know why, but in most of his dramas, he plays the villain or scum trash. Don't get me wrong, he's a good actor, but he could at least play a good guy once in a while.

The wigs used for the prince and the crown prince are very bad. Can see the glue where its used to fix the wig. Needs better makeup people to do this. Learn frim the big chinese movies how they do theirs.

He’s does occasionally play a good guy in the modern series yea your right it’s pretty rare
There's one drama with Wang Gege called "Mei Gui Guan Mian" (玫瑰冠冕) in which his character is the ultimate green flag guy. Very, very sweet.
