Forster Tuncurry lure fishing for Flathead in May + Bonus lure give away

- Today Noah and myself headed out for a quick afternoon flick after work.
I used the homemade lures and managed to finally catch a few reasonable fish on them.
I'm also giving away a whole bunch of them in different colours, pop a comment in about what colour and style you want and if you're in Australia a few will be making it to your address.
Gear
Rod - 270L Zodias
Reel - 2500 vanford
Line - 15lb jbraid expedition
Lures - Chocolate mousse shrimp, Strawberry ripple shrimp.

Also, those shrimp are real nice, not sure if it's possible for you to make those mid body creases a bit deeper for some more action/ flick. The grubs are also really cool, perhaps in the future you can try make a 2-3 inch grub? Otherwise overall they seem really good, when I opened the bag I was surprise to smell a bit of a lure scent to it not use plastic. Did you and some type of scent, or am I just smelling things? I'm unable to make deeper grooves in the shrimp but might play around with making a softer plastic to see if it gives it more action
I'll be looking at adding a bigger grub to the line up soon. Probably aim for the 2.5" size.
I do use worm oil to lubricate my moulds, it's a pretty common lure scent so probably just a bit of that rubbing off and making it have a scent.

me and my mate are in forster tuncurry and we watched your video when you went to that island in tuncurry so we went there and caught a couple bream

The breakwall is fishing really well now for bream and even Jewfish if you want to target them. Otherwise I'd head to taree St and see if a few flathead are still laying around there.

Hey mate, also a quick question, I got a new Daiwa kix 2500 and looking to get some 8lb jbraid expedition, how have you found it and do you like the orange colour? Cheers, Peter
Only just put it on this reel but I'm enjoying it so far. I ended up putting 15lb on this reel as the diameter was small and it casts really nicely. I'm actually enjoying the orange as I can see it a lot easier in the low light situations, I'll just run a slightly longer leader if I sense the fish are being a bit picky
@@theuntamedtrail Thanks Mate, i did notice the thinner PE and was considering going a bit thicker seeing as it wouldnt effect to much.
The 8lb is as thin as jbraids 6lb. So good if you wanted to stay light. But 15lb expedition runs 0.01mm thicker than jbraid 10lb so I opted for that

I always have luck on pumpkin seed and motor oil colour, especially in the river at tuncurry (near lakes resort)
Definitely some of my go to colours as well

Copper Slater
Seems to be a popular choice. I reckon it will be a good option at the moment with all the rain we have had.
