    I've done it twice, had one in each armpit where my underwire rubbed. Slapped some Orajel on to numb, then used cuticle nippers that had been through an autoclave at work. It's been 15+ years and they have not come back--got bras that actually fit!

    I agree with the reasoning however…Dr. Lee is a good dermatologist. I finally broke down and went to the one my doctor referred me to as I used to lifeguard and had a few spots I wanted looked at. The appointment lasted less than five minutes and when I mentioned a spot on my ear that I wanted them to take a better look at, I was sprayed with liquid nitrogen (without asking permission) and shooed out the door. They then billed me for “surgery” and my insurance didn’t cover everything, so I was left with a $200 bill. My mother had a similar experience at another dermatologist. I feel like unless you’re going to generate significant revenue with multiple procedures, you’re chopped liver.

      One doctor told me 800$! And it was causing me pain and concern because my braw would get stuck on it. I was afraid it would get ripped off by the braw and an infection could start. Apparently insurance still believed it was still esthetic reasons I wanted it gone

    • @Fiery154
      @Fiery154 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@lolabloo did you end up getting it removed? If it is still bothering you. Tie a “constrictor knot” (look up instructions on YT), place it over the mole, pull the ends and tighten it down. Leave it there until it falls off. It’s not too hard. I’ve done this on a mole in much the same spot, and it is improved!

      I went to a dermatologist for my skin tags. They were going to charge me $25.00 per skin tag. Needless to say. I came home and did it myself.

    • @kittyscreativecorner
      @kittyscreativecorner Месяц назад

      @@reneegoforth5797$25 is pretty decent if you only have two or three, that’s basically a co-pay amount when your insurance covers 100% of a procedure. If you had like 10+ skin tags, I could definitely see how that’s a lot. However, depending on where it is, how big it is, you could make the argument that it’s getting in the way of your day-to-day life, therefore it’s being removed for a reason that isn’t cosmetic-sometimes insurance will cover it if the reason is deemed necessary for your quality of life, and not cosmetic. I had a mole on my back that was right where the underwire of my bra hits, so it would often get irritated and start bleeding from the constant pressure and rubbing. I told my dermatologist that and that it would hurt by the end of the day, and the insurance covered it being removed, because it was an issue of pain and discomfort, not cosmetic. I only had to pay the $25 copay. If you go to a dermatologist again, I would go first just to get ones removed that you can argue cause pain and discomfort due to the size/location, and see if insurance will cover those. And then if you want others removed for cosmetic reasons, I would go a second time for those. At least that way you have a better chance of getting some of them covered by insurance, which could help reduce the cost overall, especially if they’re going to charge you per each skin tag. I also don’t think every doctor does that though, so I would try someone else. Yelp reviews have been the best source of finding a high quality doctor I like and trust, personally.

    I had a big one on my back that would get knocked by my bra strap. My doctor kept saying he’d sort it but he never did so I got my mum to tie it off & we just put a band aid over it & it did dry up & fall off. I’ve had no ill effects as a result.

    I would also be worried about a lot bleeding if you try cutting it off yourself. When I had a small mole removed at my dermatologist’s office, blood was dripping down my back when they cut it out, they had to stem the bleeding, and I had hole about the size of a dime for a few weeks before new tissue formed. Without the numbing, and a doctor there to stem the bleeding and give me aftercare instructions, I definitely would have ended up with an ugly scar, rather than just a lighter spot of skin, and I think it would have been more prone to bleeding while it was healing.

    If I'm 99.9% sure it's a skin tag, I am not jumping through all of the bullshit hoops of the hopeless American health care system to get a dermatologist referral for what will be deemed an "unnecessary cosmetic procedure," nor am I paying some obscene amount out of pocket. I'm just going to sterilize the nail scissors or razor blade.
    Thanks anyway.

      The NHS in the UK classes them as cosmetic so won't help either. They'll only remove them if they are causing "significant" issues (like being behind your ear if you wear glasses or hearing aids) or if causing a secondary problem (like repeated infections.) It's not like if I had a tonne of money I wouldn't go pay a Dr to chop off all my unwanted lumps and bumps, I'd probably get my eye bags treated too!

    I have a mole on my calf and I thought it was a skin tag so I got it off by popping it like a pimple

    I have these on my neck and under arms, I remember always washing and the one under my arm would always feel funny, one day as I was washing it came off and I didn’t even realize it

    Skin tags are a warning - metabolic syndrome. Check in with your primary care md. Check your fasting insulin / HA1C . I went keto and all my skin tags went away.

    I had one starting to form and was like “No… we aren’t doing that” and literally just grabbed it and yanked it off. It hurt, it bled a lot, but it also worked just fine and left no scar… >.>

    Even with health insurance in my Country, Laser treatment costs over 100€ when it’s not medical relevant. But those spots are ugly
