I've been doing photography for going on 7 years, in recent years I've been having a harder and harder time with it. I don't seem to be able to edit well, I am forgetting basic things that by now should have been hammered into my brain. Between stress, PTSD and Fibromyalgia, it's unsurprising that I am having a hard time. I just applied one of your tips about the highlights and shadows and instantly saw more consistency in my current work. So thank you for that and all the tips in this video.
I just started in Photography like 4 months ago and editing has definitely been the most intimidating factor. I know its gonna take time to nail it but videos like this really help!
It's easier than you think, the best tip is the most obvious one: practice as much as you can, if you work for 1h or 2h a day for a week, looking to use all the tools or the ones that we always need to use, having the standarts of a good editing in mind (not editing too much, etc, having these standarts while editing is the most important thing while learning, after, you do it your own way, so knowledge first, practice after), in the end of this week you already will be an "advanced user". Then, learning photoshop techniques with layers, masks, painting light, etc to up the game and so on. Having fun and having curiosity and looking to know how to use the tools is the secret, soon you will be a master without knowing, so do it being happy. ✌🏽
Honestly that WB tip. I usually pick the K or shoot in Daylight outdoors but didn't even think about it regarding matching up photos in a set or on a feed. Thanks for that one. Great video!
Really digging this new style! Almost turns your insta into a look book! Hopefully nobody copies it and claims it as their own but even if they do, we know where it originated ;)
There are really some points in it that I recently started caring about and have become a go to. Fixed white balance is now always set when I go out to take some shots. Also when editing the photos of our recent Tokyo vacation I used the same presets for the shots in the same district, at least to about 90% I guess. And then for one special district that I liked very much I went to develop my own preset based on an existing one. Pretty much all I had to do afterwards was adjusting the white balance to get matching skin tones.
I think for photos taken on the same day would be easier to make consistent, but the real struggle is keeping the style consistent from different days/time of the day/location which is mostly the case.
Another great video Evan, and knowledge bombs dropping left, right and centre! I'm constantly learning and evolving my own photography as a result of your RUclips, Instagram and Website...loving the content. P.S "G'Day" from Australia!
The tricky part is making your IG grid consistent and diverse at the same time. I don't know how you do it but it's awesome. Maybe you can make a video about it. Just a suggestion.
+Evan Raft Another great video made Thumbs Up for it 👍. Thanks a bunch Evan for another video 🙏. Another great rock-solid not just advice but more so tips and guidance in having a direction on a better way to strive consistenty on photos in a right way. A much needed video Thanks again Evan and Hope your week is going well so far 👍. Keep it up man 👍
Is there a tutorial on setting up or how to make a photo set? (I posted this comment at the beginning of the video, so I don't know if Evan mentioned it or not).

The real best tip is to do everything gradually. Very, very gradually. The smallest changes make a big difference overall

To make the comparison between the photos way easier you can select a reference image that will be shown right next to the one your working on.

Powerful notification squad!
Evan, I have a question. Does this mean all these photos were taken in portrait and not landscape?
Not necessarily, some are cropped just to keep this format!
You technically could do this same thing but reverse, so 3 landscape photos in a portrait backdrop 👍
@@RanftEvan well why didn't I think of that! Lol thanks again!
Or you could create the photo set as three different posts so they display as a set on your grid on Instagram and they make more sense that way. 👌
Or you can just simply use the same preset for the three photos
Evan what is good today? 😜😁😁
Thanks for watching!!
