Love this Chanel it gave me my voice back watching him and rob just geek out then these two new dudes took over and now I know why I blow so much cash on stuff I have but looks a teenie bit cooler if I buy it agine ha
At least a part of that tone and volume comes from the 'Beast'. That was a guitar owned by Paul Kossoff and the pickups (which are original) have a fairly high output. I have heard that guitar compared to other Les Pauls of the era and the Beast is noticeably louder.
DeWitt Potts The Beast was never Paul Kossoff's!!! Bernie Marsden, who was in Whitesnake, has owned the Beast since the mid 1970's. There is plenty of interviews on here where he plays it. One interview is actually where Lee Anderton went to Bernie's house and played it. Gibson also made a Collector's Choice model of the Beast. Not sure where you got that Kossoff owned it.
You should learn to do some research before posting. Here is the history of 'The Beast': www.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/Features/en-us/Bernie-Marsden-Talks-His-59-Beast-Les-Paul.aspx
Kinda really drives me nuts when people slam Joe. He's not a "real blues player" because he's never "experienced the blues." That's pretty lame. Sure he doesn't play blues, he plays blues-rock but he's still an absolute monster. People who like Joe go and see who inspired Joe and then older dudes like SRV, Gary Moore, and Johnny Winter get some new found love and I think that's what it's all about. Even if you don't like his music you can't deny he does what he does well. It may be pentatonic runs but he still plays em really clean. I respect that. And to the people who don't, I respect that to. I just wish people who didn't like him wouldn't dog on him just because they don't like him.
There is nothing wrong Pentatonic scales, people may play but to do it well is another thing.I just find that Joe does not effect me emotionally and to me that's what its REALLY about.Technically he's great but who wants to watch and hear idiot savant? I did not mean joe was an Idiot Savant. I do get more character and emotion from someone's music who has lived and suffered abit. This was well known before the 2000's. Like the imitation relics everyone buys now is because those people lived hard and played hard.
Thad White Joe's playing is just too ernest or something, He's good technically - like phenomenal really, but not really inspiring. He's a bit geeky, which is charming. I don't mind him but he's performing a genre, not really reinventing it.
***** I remember this was the criticism when Stevie Ray first came out. There were tons of criticism of T-Bone Walker when he added swing to the blues as well.
Never mind the haters. If Joe were a heroin addict or a drunk, slobbering all over the guitar and slurring song lyrics THEN he would be really playing with feeling. For some people the lifestyle and image = talent and soul. He is a master and an awesome player, no reservations merited.
It just makes me happy to see people like Joe Bonamassa still being successful with blues music, considering that basically it is ancient music for the music industry. While there are pop and electronic artists selling millions, wonderful people like him are keeping the legacy alive. Keep it on, folks :)
Woo Hoo - Finally after months of discussion, research, design & testing here it is... The Marshall JTM145. And who better to play the very first one than Mr JB. Hope you all like it - I know I do!!
This has me smiling so hard! Joe seems like such a genuinely nice guy, and I hope Andertons DID give him one of these amps. The amp itself sounds amazing.
Great video, Lee. I was born October 1964 and proud to be born in the year that Anderton's Music Co. was born. Congratulations on 50 wonderful years! Thank you, Joe, for your special touch...
I've been watching the Captain's videos for only a half a year or so and I feel like I know the guy. Wears his heart on his sleeve and seems like such a genuine person. His family deserves the success they've earned.
Joe will go down in history as one of the greats, been gigging since he was like 12 years old, just as blues a story as Robert Johnson, so critics of Joe..................Wind your necks in, and leave the guy alone, he has done the hard yards, just because he isn't some old ex junkie, no offence , but he has as much credibility as anyone
To anyone thinking Joe didn't want to be there that's not really true - that's just Joe lol He's always had a deadpan, straight edge way of being and you can watch hundreds of interviews on RUclips he never really is too engaging. He's a great guy. It probably doesn't help Lee is in la la land and completely smitten lol
I got the impression Joe really wanted to play-to check the amp out. He kept reaching for the strings and then stopping as the Captain continued talking after a pause. I guess I'd be eager to play it too.
Lee, I purchased #132. I received it in three days. And I live all the way across the pond! The cabinet was a very pleasant surprise! The Celestion T-652 is the best sounding Celestion I've ever heard! This is probably one of the few purchases I've ever made that I'm pretty sure that the resale value will go up instead of down. Congrats on fifty years, and I hope you're still going fifty years from now! Anyway, thanks to yourself and the folks at Marshall and Celestion! Kind regards, Chance Davis
They should put more Alnico Speakers in guitar cabinets. Been watching this video for years and I always come back to it. It's a really great reference! :)
always hard to judge from a youtube video, but that "1 watt" amp sounds incredibly loud and incredibly GREAT! well done Anderton's, Marshall, Captain and Joe B!
I had tears in my eyes! Still have. Lee's been trying to hold back but the emotions just jump out of the video. This is a fantastic way to celebrate a fantastic feat. Congrats to 50 years and keep up your great work! And btw, though being a 7ender fanboy I have to admit the amp and cab sound killer! On the other hand.. through Joe's fingers even a banjo put thru an old tube radio would sound better than anything 99.9% of us could ever achieve on guitar. ;-)
This will torment me to no end with the thought that I may never own one, let alone get the chance to play through one. Damn. Happy 50th! ...and to 50 more. Just fantastic.
Wow fantastic tone out of this amp. I'm floored. This is the only Marshall I've ever actually wanted to buy in my whole life, but only 200 worldwide? *cry*
Good for you, Captain. You've clearly put your heart and soul into this, and you've got to meet one of your heroes as a result. Nice to see one of the successes of British manufacture, as well.
This amp is long gone, but I’ve watched this video about ten times just to listen to that AMAZING TONE. I love that they didn’t mix in too much close-mic so you could actually here this amp breathe and fill the room. Stunning sound
Love the amp, but I would really like to know what it sounds like with ANYTHING but a real 1959 Les Paul plugged into that, something tells me a bunch of the awesomeness is coming from that 55 year old guitar! Great product for some great folks, enjoy at least another 50 years, Lee.
It's already based on the 1 watt 50th anniversary JTM1. There were only a small number of these made in 2012. I was lucky enough to pick one up on feeBay. One of my favorite amps.
WHOLE LEE EFFING SHIT! Now that's what a good Marshall sounds like! Could you imagine this in stereo w/ an SL-5? I really hope they do a production run of these w/ different cosmetics. Hell I'd buy one of the 200 if Christmas hadn't kicked my ass! Excellent Job Cap'n and Marshall!
Lee Anderton is awesome, Joe Bonamassa is awesome, and that gorgeous amp looks amazing and sounds terrific! Joe's virtuosity inspires me every time I see him play. Great job on the amp Lee! I wish I had the money to buy one!
OK - as of 7th Feb 2014, we have pre-sold exactly half (ie 100). First shipment arrives next week (all gone), 2nd shipment a week after that (all gone too), but 3rd shipment (around end of Feb) has availability. Hope all that makes sense!
I am super excited about this thing. It's my big impulse buy for 2014, I've seen this video a dozen times. I'm also suuuuper nervous, I really hope it arrives in good nick, sent all the way to NZ. I'm sure it'll be packed up nicely??
MrDrewseph Just out of interest, did you buy this amp? I would be interested to know, if you did buy one how she sounds and what guitar you are playing.
Amp sounds great! Congrats on 50 years. I have sadly watched all the little guitar shoppes in town slowly fade away. It is really nice to see those pictures of your Father and Grandfather who started it out and to know that you are still around and seem to be doing extremely well.
Joe is such a guitarist... Captain is speaking and Joe's hand is itching to play throughout the video just like every true guitarist in a rehearsal room Lol
I absolutely need one of those just because it is my 50th Anniversary as well, later this very year. Absolutely great idea Captain. Congratulations by the way. The amp sounds absolutely killer. Cheers, Robin :o)
Congratulations to Andertons Music Store on 50 Years of service to us poor guitarist . I love what you did with this amp . Amazing ! Than again , with JB playing almost any guitar and amp , it would sound great . Congrats again for 50 Years !
Latest update.... Just to answer a couple of recurring questions re this amp. 1. There are some left to order - just visit the Andertons site & you'll see when we run out! 2. We do ship world wide for a lot less than you might think - don't forget, this amp is designed to run on 220-240v mains, so if you live somewhere that runs on 110v (like the USA) you'll need to buy a step up mains transformer - they aren't expensive & we have suggested one in the amps description on our web site. 3. My own personal head & cab (serial no1) is on display at Andertons, so if you want to come & try it, you absolutely can!
Now this is one killer sounding amp. It helps to have Joe playing it but it's Lee's enthusiasm and knowladge plus his great ear for tone that got this amp done. Congrats on a stellar new vintage sounding Marshall amp. Just stunning!
David Evans Two watts? Now that's just crazy talk. What the hell would you do with two whole watts? Get yourself into trouble, I would wager. Perhaps go for the 1½ watt to begin, and see what kind of carnage develops. You may find that is all that is needed!
Its cool how Mr Anderton likes all the little details about the amp, I could care less about vintage vinyl and the colour of the trim, but it sounds great! You can mic up anything and make it sound big, so it could even be a good recording amp.
The great UNVEILING and oh by the way , we only made 200 and their already sold out !!! Bonamassa got a kick out of that ! (if we could only know what he was thinking as he reacted to that with his grin and shift of position in his chair)
Lee's passion is infectious. Keep it rockin' Mr Anderton!
Thanks Lee (!)
Love this Chanel it gave me my voice back watching him and rob just geek out then these two new dudes took over and now I know why I blow so much cash on stuff I have but looks a teenie bit cooler if I buy it agine ha
yeah, have no clue about amps, but the enthusiasm & passion is great.
This is one of the best sounding amps I've ever heard. Wow!
Joe makes every amp sound amazing......
+budgetguitarist.com ever had a hearing test mate
nice one matie, metallica rules.
+Musiccalgary No, thats pretty much AC/DC territory with a bit more harmonics. Thats classic rock tone to me..
with you there mate. he must have a squier 10 watt amp.
You know Joe got the guys number that has the old amp collection and went to his house 30 mins after this.
Without any kind of doubt!!!
schlagdog ha ha ha best comment ever
Guitar Safari!
This is JB we’re talking about. He probably knew about that guy and already bought something years before.
I asked joe about this, turns out... it was Joes own number
Haha, I can literally taste the nervousness from the captain! haha
this dude has some skills in guitar playing, I think he really has a future.
😏
LMAO
He’s not bad.
Man, that is one ballsy tone Joe is getting from that amp! For a 1-watt amp, it totally floored me about how massive it can sound.
power tubes! the real power of the volume is depending on what tubes you have to push the volumeo
At least a part of that tone and volume comes from the 'Beast'. That was a guitar owned by Paul Kossoff and the pickups (which are original) have a fairly high output. I have heard that guitar compared to other Les Pauls of the era and the Beast is noticeably louder.
DeWitt Potts the beast is Bernie Marsden's that he bought back in the 70s

I do get more character and emotion from someone's music who has lived and suffered abit. This was well known before the 2000's.

Joe is the one of the five best blues players alive in the world today.
Never mind the haters. If Joe were a heroin addict or a drunk, slobbering all over the guitar and slurring song lyrics THEN he would be really playing with feeling. For some people the lifestyle and image = talent and soul. He is a master and an awesome player, no reservations merited.

Great sounding amplifier and a MONSTER guitar player, truly one the best
Woo Hoo - Finally after months of discussion, research, design & testing here it is... The Marshall JTM145. And who better to play the very first one than Mr JB. Hope you all like it - I know I do!!
sounds great! Ideal for recording in home sized studios too!
or ABY'd with a proper JTM45 for a big live rig!
Happy 50th!
Happy 50th cap'n and just as joe said heres to another 50
NICE!
Fantastic
PLEASE MAKE MORE THAN 200! I can't afford one now but definitely would buy one if I had the money!
Now that's what I call TONE! Fantastic.
This has me smiling so hard! Joe seems like such a genuinely nice guy, and I hope Andertons DID give him one of these amps. The amp itself sounds amazing.
Congrats Lee and all at Andertons. Amp sounds amazing and what better man to demo it! Here's to another 50 years!!
Great video, Lee. I was born October 1964 and proud to be born in the year that Anderton's Music Co. was born. Congratulations on 50 wonderful years! Thank you, Joe, for your special touch...
Captain - Congratulations to 50 years for you, your family and the Anderton's staff. Have an excellent 2014!
There is no doubt, that amp and guitar combo sound magic!
+Neil Aspinall 60% comes from Joe´s hands.
joe bonamassa could make dog turds sound good haha nothing beats a damn good tube amp tho so marshalls sound amazing
There are other Joe clips, with great gear. This sounds like the best combination of guitar and amp to my ears.
Lee. Your face! You were in awe. It really showed. Just like a kid meeting Santa!
I've been watching the Captain's videos for only a half a year or so and I feel like I know the guy. Wears his heart on his sleeve and seems like such a genuine person. His family deserves the success they've earned.

Agreed
Couldn't have said it better
The tone coming from this amp, guitar, and Joe are just staggering. This sounds absolutely wonderful.
#187 arrived from Santa/UPS today. Wow. Thank you Lee. It is like having a whole new guitar collection. They have all come to life!
I bought one, plus the cab. It's simply wonderful - sounds, looks, the lot! Pride of place in my home studio so I can drool over it every day!
Best classic sound I´ve ever heard on youtube!
To anyone thinking Joe didn't want to be there that's not really true - that's just Joe lol He's always had a deadpan, straight edge way of being and you can watch hundreds of interviews on RUclips he never really is too engaging. He's a great guy. It probably doesn't help Lee is in la la land and completely smitten lol
joes always such a nice guy in person hes quiet and alittle weird cause he sat in his room for years playing guitar
I got the impression Joe really wanted to play-to check the amp out. He kept reaching for the strings and then stopping as the Captain continued talking after a pause. I guess I'd be eager to play it too.
he is a tad social awkward you can watch videos when he was a kid and see it. a great guy just a bit as I said awkward.
this sounds amazing
I love the sound of this Marshall
And JB sounds fantastic
mazing amp amazing guitarist. Congrats Andertons
Lee,
I purchased #132. I received it in three days. And I live all the way across the pond! The cabinet was a very pleasant surprise! The Celestion T-652 is the best sounding Celestion I've ever heard! Kind regards,
Chance Davis
Thanks Chance - really appreciate you taking the time to let me know how much you like the amp.
Chance, may I ask you how much you paid for it? Hope I can get one sometime in the future in the second hand market... incredible sound.
Killer tones......1 watt....hard to believe because it just sounds great!
Happy 50th
They should put more Alnico Speakers in guitar cabinets. Been watching this video for years and I always come back to it. It's a really great reference! :)
Wow, I had no idea about Lee's family history.
His father and grandfather were THE gear suppliers for the British Invasion!
Player + guitar + amp + speaker all combine here to sound incredible. Please bring this back for the 60th anniversary in 2024!
always hard to judge from a youtube video, but that "1 watt" amp sounds incredibly loud and incredibly GREAT!
well done Anderton's, Marshall, Captain and Joe B!
That tone he got at around 3:20 is just sick.
Awesome project. Happy anniversary.
Best sounding Marshall I've heard in a long time!
The two legends finally meet =)
Congrats captain, that is so awesome you have grown & carried on the family business. You are my hero!
I had tears in my eyes! Still have.
Lee's been trying to hold back but the emotions just jump out of the video. This is a fantastic way to celebrate a fantastic feat. Congrats to 50 years and keep up your great work!

This will torment me to no end with the thought that I may never own one, let alone get the chance to play through one. Damn. Happy 50th! ...and to 50 more. Just fantastic.
Wow!! Want that amp!!
They should put this in production, it's amazing.
Joe is such a natural you can tell hes itching to play through out the whole interview.
Wow fantastic tone out of this amp. I'm floored. This is the only Marshall I've ever actually wanted to buy in my whole life, but only 200 worldwide? *cry*
Great video. Beautiful raw tone out of that bad boy...the amp's not too bad either :)
Congrats on 50 years and seriously, this Marshall is absolutely killer!
Congrats on Fifty Years of making dreams come true, from Virginia, USA!
Congratulations Lee, that must be a great moment for you and what a fantastic way to honour the store
Congrats Andertons!
Good for you, Captain. You've clearly put your heart and soul into this, and you've got to meet one of your heroes as a result. Nice to see one of the successes of British manufacture, as well.
Sick!
sick as brick that you can build a house out of it
This amp is long gone, but I’ve watched this video about ten times just to listen to that AMAZING TONE. I love that they didn’t mix in too much close-mic so you could actually here this amp breathe and fill the room. Stunning sound
Lee's fangirling so hard this whole time
Love the Captains little excited voice, getting excited about the amp and in awe of JB. Well done Andertons.
"Shut up and let me play"
-Joe Bonamassa
This is brilliant! congratz Captain Lee and all the Andertons staff!
Marshall should make more amps like this :)
That's a great little Marshall, Captain! Well done & congratulations to you in this special year for Andertons.
Love the amp, but I would really like to know what it sounds like with ANYTHING but a real 1959 Les Paul plugged into that, something tells me a bunch of the awesomeness is coming from that 55 year old guitar! Great product for some great folks, enjoy at least another 50 years, Lee.
Its the guy playing it that makes it sound so super awesome.
I wish you these 50 years to be the half of a fantastic century! Good work, guys!
goddamn how can someone play that clean and articulate?!!?!?!?!?!?
+SkaterSTF Start at 5yo and play everyday...
I saw somewhere that he doesn’t like hammers or pull offs. Makes it quite incredible that he’s hitting each note and articulating each one so well.
That was my question as well
Joe is awesome. Look how happy is to receive that. Such as down to earth cool guy.
Please make a little reissue of these! Want one badly
It's already based on the 1 watt 50th anniversary JTM1. There were only a small number of these made in 2012. I was lucky enough to pick one up on feeBay. One of my favorite amps.
$650 USD
Yamaha cj
If they did, I'd be there. Would have me the cab, too.
So much attitude in the sound. Love it. That amp would sound so mean with an overdrive in front really pushing it.
"I'm probably biased." Is that an amplifier joke, Lee? Ha!
Congratulations guys, great amp, great demo by a great guitar legend, and to an even greater history ahead for you guys.
OK - as of 7th Feb 2014, we have pre-sold exactly half (ie 100). First shipment arrives next week (all gone), 2nd shipment a week after that (all gone too), but 3rd shipment (around end of Feb) has availability. Hope all that makes sense!
Is there going to be a demo one in the store to try? Its quite expensive but sounds amazing. would like to try it before placing an order.
There has been one in store for a couple of weeks now!
I am super excited about this thing. It's my big impulse buy for 2014, I've seen this video a dozen times. I'm also suuuuper nervous, I really hope it arrives in good nick, sent all the way to NZ. I'm sure it'll be packed up nicely??
You can tell Joe genuinely liked that amp sounds amazing
MrDrewseph Just out of interest, did you buy this amp? I would be interested to know, if you did buy one how she sounds and what guitar you are playing.
Congrats to Anderson's Music! Loved the amp. Thanks Joe!
That is what a guitar amp is supposed to sound like.
Grats Lee - and I second JoBo with wishing you another 50 years!
great ear-candy... sounds lovely... and Joe B. is the man on the git-fiddle... :-)
What an amazing sound that guitar/amp/Joe is. The 1st 15 secs of this is some of the rawest sounding guitar I have ever heard in my life.
I absolutely need one of those just because it is my 50th Anniversary as well, later this very year.
Absolutely great idea Captain. Congratulations by the way. The amp sounds absolutely killer.
Cheers,
Robin :o)
Great video. Congrats on 50 years. Really nice to see a presenter super stoked to met the guest
im just hearing this from a cellphone and my reaction was holy fuck! it sounds amazing
Sweet tone.
That is a really gorgeous sound! Wow great job Lee and Marshall!
He sounds like John C Reilly when he talks.
Joe is simply amazing, and I love that LP!
Does indeed look extremely smart! ....And very nicely done video! ;-)
Captain looked soo happy getting to hang out with Joe, what a fun video to watch. Thank you.
Sounds perfect..
Will I play like that if I buy one!?
Awesome! Congratulations on 50 years.
One watt? DAMN. I was hoping for two.
David Evans Two might be, two much?
That's to much. Crazy power.
David Evans Two watts? Now that's just crazy talk. What the hell would you do with two whole watts? Get yourself into trouble, I would wager. Perhaps go for the 1½ watt to begin, and see what kind of carnage develops. You may find that is all that is needed!
+spartanworria ITS TOO MOT TO!!!
+Brütal Löve Just the tought that Marshall would build 100 Watt amps.... insane
Joe plays with such precision ... and that little amp is sweet! Love it!
I have a MicroCube.
I know that feel..
Sounds just great ...well , Joe mostly sounds fantastic every time I've heard him .... cheers and good luck .
I WANT ONE
how about we buy one and share it :P ?
orestis nalmpantis Deal - I can have it Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday... which days do you want it? :-p

Congrats on the 50th anniversary. Captain and crew!! Heres to another 50 years!!
Holy fucking fuck what a brilliant guitar player
you're overkill..! stop exaggerating.

BRUCE ALCORIZA oh hush up you jealous buffoon
congrats captain lee and andertons family on the 50th anniversary
