85 to 92ish was really and truly the golden era of Monster trucks in my opinion. The PENDA series was great in the mid/late 1990s but most of that ''energy'' from the early days had desipated by that point and then when Monster Jam took over it was all over.

@@yottadrive no kidding. Last time I watched a modern monster truck race was after they moved the finals to Florida. I made a drinking game consisting of a shot every time they said BKT Tires. I didn't make it through the show lmao

Man, oh man, that crazy 90 degree vertical jump that Dennis had in Digger #2 back in 1989 was insane as hell at the 1:08:42 mark. At the 1:07:16 mark, both Dennis and Mike were mouthing off like they always did and Dennis was exactly right, that was blood and guts style of racing back in the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@@GuyFreeman5041 I think Dennis was laughing at what Mike Wine was saying how many Chevys wold beat a Ford. Those two guys had a crazy rivalry back then and that rivalry was Ford VS Chevrolet

the last of the golden years, when bigfoot changed the whole competion by using Baja shocks that allowed him to fly over the cars and then came out with the first fiberglass body (snake bite in '91). once everyone else started playing catchup to that, it pretty much ended the monster truck racing that we all knew and loved

I know Everett Jasmer had to spend a lot of money during the late 80's to re-build USA-1 after each and every crash

this was also the last years for leaf-springs for the older and underfunded trucks, everyone went with coil and coil-overs with the exception of Bigfoot that went with the Baja shocks that got him banned for a year? in '89
