I'd say that BPRD being secret changed the story quite a bit, especially the Golden Army. And Abe seems more general in the movie (probably to distinguish himself from Hellboy). Johann Krauss in Golden Army, on the other hand, is completely different character with the same look and powers (in the BPRD series, the newest member of team learing the ropes. In the movie his the senior member of the BPRD assigned to keep HB inline). Also both his romantic storyline with Liz and a bigger emphasis on the relationship with Bruttenholm, kind ofmake movie HB feel like brooding teenager at times.
I'm willing to give the reboot a chance. It might not be as good as the last two but I'm not gonna automatically hate it just because Ron isn't reprising the role
Exactly!!! It’s ridiculous that fans are just automatically dismissing and condemning the reboot all because Ron Perlman and Guillermo Del Toro are not part of of the new film. I know that it sucks that they never got to make a third film, but it’s time to move on. As you said, the new film may not end up being as good as the first two films, but hating on it constantly all because the previous people are no longer involved is stupid.
This is a really cool book vs movie video, i didn’t realize how different they were from eachother, mainly because books are much more expensive than the movie counterparts. On another note: have you guys considered doing a book vs movie on “felidae”? The one movie review that gave some nod to the book only mentions it in passing while making a joke with a clip from the simpsons. Which is fine but not very educational for a broke reader.
Correction 3: Hellboy's is physically almost identical between the movies and the books, but whereas in the comics he's quiet and mature, in the movies he's a bleating teenager acting out for attention.

2) the story should be more of an interpretation of stories in the comics, but not a beat for beat translation

E.g.: the joker always has to be a psychotic- albeit manipulative- menace who foils Batman; but he doesnt always have to be limited to robbing banks
Those elements have to be present to ensure the film honors the source material
Now whether or not the movie itself is good still relies on all the technical minutia
(Eg: good script, production design, score, etc)
I'd say that BPRD being secret changed the story quite a bit, especially the Golden Army. And Abe seems more general in the movie (probably to distinguish himself from Hellboy). Johann Krauss in Golden Army, on the other hand, is completely different character with the same look and powers (in the BPRD series, the newest member of team learing the ropes. In the movie his the senior member of the BPRD assigned to keep HB inline). Also both his romantic storyline with Liz and a bigger emphasis on the relationship with Bruttenholm, kind ofmake movie HB feel like brooding teenager at times.
It’s 2004 and 2008 not 2006. But still love you guys!
You guys should do a What's the Difference on Happy! Would be an interesting one
I would love to see you guys do 13 warrior against eaters of the dead
I'm willing to give the reboot a chance. It might not be as good as the last two but I'm not gonna automatically hate it just because Ron isn't reprising the role
Exactly!!! It’s ridiculous that fans are just automatically dismissing and condemning the reboot all because Ron Perlman and Guillermo Del Toro are not part of of the new film. I know that it sucks that they never got to make a third film, but it’s time to move on. As you said, the new film may not end up being as good as the first two films, but hating on it constantly all because the previous people are no longer involved is stupid.
Cinefix can you please do what the difference between hellboy 2 the golden army and the book
Abe in the books was not a telepath. Just a cool fish man who eventually starts wearing a bullet proof vest after he got shot by an ape.
I love Pearlman's subtlety. The makeup realy reflect his face.
Hellboy was one of the first comic book movies I ever saw - probably younger than I should have, but I still loved it xD
Correction 3: Hellboy's is physically almost identical between the movies and the books, but whereas in the comics he's quiet and mature, in the movies he's a bleating teenager acting out for attention.
