The NFL season hasn't started, The Olympics are done, baseball regular season is almost done. So the answer is very. A lot of news shows take August off.
Coach T wants Arthur Smith to develop fields. He wants to give him time. He wants russ to mentor him. If russ looks bad again, or the o line doesn't hold up, fields will start undoubtedly. It's best for fields to develop and overcome those bad bears habits
He’s in his 4th year and still struggles reading most basic defense looks. He holds the ball forever because he can’t differentiate open from covered receivers. I like him as he seems to be a down to earth guy that works hard but let’s be real. He’s simply not it.
At this rate, Pittsburgh will win 5-6 games, and either Justin Fields or Wilson will get traded at the trade deadline getting Derrick Carr for all we know 😆
They also had a top 2 worst offensive line 🤦♂️ and the Steelers line currently has injuries. Broderick jones is the best guy available and he’s playing in a arm cast
The Patriots got Tom Brady for nothing. The bucs were one of the few teams that wanted Tom san Francisco said no. Rams traded Goff. Lions paid him a bunch of money. Baker went from 1st round pick to minimum salary to 100 dollar contract. There is a subjective nature to roster construction. None of this is linear Russ can go and score 30TD and the Steelers win a playoff game.

Yeah. Gotta admit, looking over the Ravens first 10 games~looks pretty rough. And I thought we had too many nail biters last season 😅 guessing we're going to be in the middle of the pack for much of the season and then push for a strong finish 🤞🏼
as a bears and fields fan i wish fields the best, if russ starts fields will have a chance to hone his craft, if not im sure the steelers will have a scrappy qb that will give you a chance to win, i dont know if he will ever be an all time great yet im not dumping on him either, danny dimes is way worse all around and gets no where near this type of hate
Both hold the ball too long, Wilson had a way better year last yr so I'd go with him. Fields has never thrown for 20 tds or for 3000 yds. That's pathetic
Its the preseason, nobody with a brain cares about the preseason. And having a guy who ran out of his own end zone talk about "seeing the field" just shows how embarrassing ESPN is
Last year Kenny was tearing up the preseason and look how that turned out. I’m not saying our QBs are great but never will trust the preseason results as the true representation of the team
I’ll never forget Dan Orlovsky saying that Justin Fields could have an MVP caliber season a couple years ago, bro can’t even outplay Russel definitively
What I don’t understand is why all of a sudden everyone cares about preseason performance when it comes to the Steelers. Last few years the Steelers have won most of their preseason games, and the media never gave them any props. Now, Steelers are having a bad preseason and it’s like the sky is falling ! It’s the preseason, it matters for nothing. The Pittsburgh Steelers went 10-7 last year behind Pickett, Trubisky, and Rudolph; I don’t care who you are, Wilson or Fields are better than that whole QB room, why would the team do worse ??
Raven's lost over half of their OL and the main brains behind their defense. Couple that with Joe Burrow returning, its not crazy for them to drop off slightly. The Eagles literally regressed for 2 months straight last year and still have the same guy in charge minus the heart and soul of their defense and offense. Also easy to see them regressing as well.
The collapse of 2018 wanted Tomlin out of this organization immediately. Then he reels you back in with somehow going 8-8 in 2019 with a QB carousel of Ducky Hodges and Mason Rudolph playing scared after his knockout hit from the Ravens game. Then comes the collapse of 2020. Every season afterwards, we do not control our own destiny and gotta pray for other team's outcomes. Even though how terrible we played last season we were sitting at 7-4 and his stubbornness to keep Mitch Trubisky in tanking us to 7-7 I wanted him gone for that. Mason Rudolph saved our season and I have no clue why they kept him as our 3rd string after going back to back weeks over 30 points. Kenny couldn't even manage that! Then we get rid of Mason Rudolph! Ridiculous
According to Steelers fans, they don’t need a top Offense because they went 5-1 in the Division without one. Also because the Defense will carry them into the Playoffs and keep the “Never had a losing season” record alive
I'm a steelers fan and that is bs we need a high powered offense to win a superbowl ....if we want to remind mediocre sure that will work to make wildcard and get booted 1st round every year
@@the-pokeman7534 Steelers have never won a superbowl with a high-powered offense. They need a competent offense just like the Jets and the Browns. The good News is Russ can provide the Steelers with that. The bad news is Patrick mahomes is MJ and he is standing in the way.
@@chrisbogan402 idk if the Jets are better than the Steelers. The Steelers beat the Ravens twice and have their number. Bills and Texans have something to prove this year. We will see if they are real.
Brandon Aiyuk will fix all of the Steelers problems on Offense, Defense, Special Teams, team website, communications between the coaching staff and players, the team’s chaplain, kitchen staff, food vendors, in house nutritionist, and team doctor
The Steelers play the TOUGHEST SCHEDULE. They are going to have to bring their A-GAME almost every week. Russell Wilson will have to be the ultimate GAME MANAGER to survive and rely on their defense to keep them in games.
Maybe, maybe not. They might unleash Russ like Brian Schottenheimer did in 2020. Isn’t that why you try to bring in a Brandon Aiyuk? If they get him, the offense cannot be run-heavy. I think they want to play a balanced style.
The issue with Steelers is there Offensive line isn't very good. It hasn't for years. I understand that a great quarterback can wipe out a lot holes in game. But the Steelers fine better trench players on both side of the ball. Like the old Steelers back in the day.
What's this "we?" I'm not paying CeeDee Lamb a dime, and that's final. If you've got the money, go ahead, but I think Jerry Jones should be the one paying, since he owns the team, don't you? Not "we?"
Russ was only a bargain because he wanted to play for the veterans minimum to stick it to Denver. Russ’s $39M salary was guaranteed, so Denver was on the hook for the balance left over from whatever Russ’s new team paid. After the way Sean Payton treated Russ, why would Russ do the Broncos any favors? He took the vet minimum from the Steelers, as he would’ve done either Minnesota, LV, Atlanta, Washington, Tampa, or the NYG.
this team is amazing on paper I give them a 8.5/10 but they like the eagles or dolphins can't stay healthy now players doing this holding out ? like if the team doesn't pay them they gonna just be like the cowboys come on you dont wanna be that if you wanna beat the cheifs just sign your players make them happy
And Tomlin is 1/2 of the problem,,, after inheriting two super bowl teams, even with Big Ben.. his O Line Stunk, and it's only getting worse.. and sense Ben Retired Tomlin is proving he has no idea how to get a qb,, and coach a qb!!!
Everyone is saying Fields missed long TD pass, but nobody says he’s been playing with the 1’s and George Pickens Austin Jefferson would ran through that ball and caught it! WR needed to run through the ball, he stopped jumped early!! Coaches always told me take extra step before you jump, guy stopped and jumped if he ran fast through ball TD 1st teamers would caught it!

You can thank Sean Payton for the 204 YPG (not 150) that Russ had last season (3,070 yards and 29 total TDs in 15 games!), That equates to 3,479 yards and 30 TDs over 17 games, numbers Russ likely would’ve hit or exceeded as he has done many times even over a 16-game schedule. @@DeCurtaRican I’m not reading all that, buddy. But I can see you’re a box score watcher 😂 Maybe watch actual film and tell me how many scoreless drives he’s had, how many times he runs out of a clean pocket, how many times he takes sacks because he won’t throw to open receivers.
At worst, Russel Wilson won't lose the game. But unless he can reverse time, he's not carrying a middle of the pack Steelers. And at this point of his career, Wilson doesn't want to play for a rebuilding team. But he can give Tomlin the traditional prototype 3000+ yards with great TD/INT ratio.
Russ is still that dude! He could’ve carried Denverbiver the past two years but the team and coaches weren’t good. Payton sabotaged him. Hackett was unqualified and never should’ve been hired. The team suffered more injuries than any team in the league in 2022, and in 2023, the defense was horrific for most of the year. The 2023 O-Line was inconsistent at best, the run game sucked, and Russ had ONE reliable receiver. And again, Payton didn’t want to win anyway. Dan was right 3 years ago when he questioned the processing skills of Fields but the guy nearly got cancelled cos you aint allowed to question the mental side of a young black QB
Chris Simms was saying Fields was inaccurate and took a shocking amount of sacks before the draft. Tons of people in the comments were calling him a racist and saying he doesn't know anything about being a QB in the NFL 😂 Then when Bears fans said Fields sucks, a bunch of people called us racist, meanwhile we're welcoming a new black QB with arms wide open, because he isn't ret*rded 😂 Those same people are nowhere to be found of course.
Dan did you trust your eyes when you ran out of your own endzone?

How slow is the sports news cycle at ESPN ?
He’s a helluva QB development coach. Absolutely crushed it with Ridder
Its the blind leading the blind
I agree but there is no developing fields he has hit his ceiling an Russ just riding this fairWell wave as long as he can he talks to much
@@JG-qp3pbI seem to remember Arthur Smith helping Tannehill lead the NFL in passer rating one year.
First team offense, not scoring a single point in preseason is insane😂😂
Wilson and Fields are literally top 2 in the league in taking dumb sacks. Good luck Steelers fans.
At this rate, Pittsburgh will win 5-6 games, and either Justin Fields or Wilson will get traded at the trade deadline getting Derrick Carr for all we know 😆
Dumb sacks didn't know that was a category that was counted by the NFL. Let me ask you a question how is Joe Burrow at taking "dumb" sacks?
@@JayStiles-kt2pm Carr is an upgrade since hes proven as of late somwhat xD
They also had a top 2 worst offensive line 🤦♂️ and the Steelers line currently has injuries. Broderick jones is the best guy available and he’s playing in a arm cast
Gayleb is top 1
I think Justin Fields would struggle in the XFL 😢
He will struggle to find people in his caliber.😁
Washington has to trade for Aiyuk now. It makes too much sense.
Like let the season start first. The whole preseason y’all make this the main topic.
Has anyone considered that the reason the Steelers got them both for practically nothing is because they're not good QBs?
The Patriots got Tom Brady for nothing. The bucs were one of the few teams that wanted Tom san Francisco said no. Rams traded Goff. Lions paid him a bunch of money. Baker went from 1st round pick to minimum salary to 100 dollar contract. There is a subjective nature to roster construction. None of this is linear Russ can go and score 30TD and the Steelers win a playoff game.
Did you consider Russ gets him money from Broncos and wanted to stick them with paying as much of it as possible so signs for cheap?

I love Hannah but I miss Sam Ponder
As Dan O. mentioned before I think regarding Mac jones; did Bears broke Justin?? Like every game they told him “Not To Lose the game”???
YAWN!!! ESPN is the New TMZ
as a bears and fields fan i wish fields the best, if russ starts fields will have a chance to hone his craft, if not im sure the steelers will have a scrappy qb that will give you a chance to win, i dont know if he will ever be an all time great yet im not dumping on him either, danny dimes is way worse all around and gets no where near this type of hate
Gayleb is way worse
Both hold the ball too long, Wilson had a way better year last yr so I'd go with him. Fields has never thrown for 20 tds or for 3000 yds. That's pathetic
Good observation, and I think Russ will get rid of the ball quicker if he has protection and his guys run precise routes.
But he’s right, Justin is playing hesitant
Confidence. Justin lack confidence. Dan O is right, Justin literally can see it but just doesn’t believe it. It’s frustrating
SPLASH PLAYS
He’s seeing the field but not trusting his eyes? Wtf?
Right? If that isn’t some psychobabble…😒😏🤡
Ridiculous
The truth that people choose to ignore, 🍻
According to Steelers fans, they don’t need a top Offense because they went 5-1 in the Division without one. Also because the Defense will carry them into the Playoffs and keep the “Never had a losing season” record alive
I'm a steelers fan and that is bs we need a high powered offense to win a superbowl ....if we want to remind mediocre sure that will work to make wildcard and get booted 1st round every year

Brandon Aiyuk will fix all of the Steelers problems on Offense, Defense, Special Teams, team website, communications between the coaching staff and players, the team’s chaplain, kitchen staff, food vendors, in house nutritionist, and team doctor
Same old Justin Bears fans watched for 3 years.Thank god we moved on.
Mans is on point with the 5 teams regressing outside of the Ravens. Eagles will drop this year.
The issue with Steelers is there Offensive line isn't very good. It hasn't for years. I understand that a great quarterback can wipe out a lot holes in game. But the Steelers fine better trench players on both side of the ball. Like the old Steelers back in the day.
In 3 years, The Steelers will sign Caleb Williams

Russ was only a bargain because he wanted to play for the veterans minimum to stick it to Denver. Russ’s $39M salary was guaranteed, so Denver was on the hook for the balance left over from whatever Russ’s new team paid.

He tanked on purpose and sabotaged Russ either bullsh!t play-calling, few designed runs, and Marvin Mihms left on the bench ch when he should’ve been playing.

According to Sports Info Solutions (SIS), Russ’s arm is as deadly as ever!
He completed six passes that flew 40+ air yards past the original line of scrimmage (for 301 yards), good for #1 in the league. Four of those six went for TDs, and the two that didn’t were attributed as drops by the targeted receivers.
Russ attempted 16 such passes, and 10 were deemed on target by SIS.
Of those 16 attempts, not a single one resulted in an interception.
Russ had one of the league’s top deep-ball passer ratings, had one of the highest season-long 4th quarter passer ratings, and led the league in red zone efficiency for half the season.
He also rushed for 341 yards in 15 games, which is the equivalent of 386 yards over 17 games, or 220%+ times the rush yards of the average NFL QB. That was with Sean Payton suppressing his numbers. Russ is still capable of rushing for 400-500 yards.

Mike Tomlin's first losing season is inevitable.
Maybe, but not this year!
Why does the woman even speak
i like dan and his analysis but you gotta think he can’t have the same thought process as you 24/7. yes yall are both qbs but not every qb sees the field the same way and that’s clear w fields, looks like he jus skips over some of his checkdowns and tries to make plays too late in the moment. at the same time though they need to understand they traded for justin because he provides a dynamic russ can’t. mike seems to want top tier production from fields while giving his top tier attention to russell wilson
Bull. Take a look at something. Play close attention to every metric and keep in mind that Russ played 15 games while JF played 13. That’s especially important when discussing sacks and INTs.
Russ comes out ahead in every department except for rush YPC/YPA and total yards, and still finished 8th in the league last season, contradicting people’s claims that Russ has lost mobility. He nearly put up the equivalent of 400 yards on mostly non-designed runs.

@@DeCurtaRican u think i’m genuinely gonna read all that?
This is what is going to happen. Russ Wilson will start the season as the de facto QB. But it will soon be revealed that Russ is going to flounder, and Tomlin will swap QB's in a desperate attempt. When we get closer to this in about week 4, I will comment further. This isn't rocket science.

How does Justin fields best out Wilson ? Take one less sack
That will be impossible.
In 2023, Fields took 44 sacks in 13 games…the equivalent of 57.53 sacks (or 58 sacks) over a full schedule.
Russ took 45 sacks in 15 games, the equivalent of 51 sacks over a full schedule.
Even when Russ plays for a lousy team and a coach purposely sabotaging him, he avoids sacks better than JF.
Now, here’s the funny part, Kimberly Martin keeps claiming Russ took “more” sacks than JF, which is technically true but statistically false!

Dan was right 3 years ago when he questioned the processing skills of Fields but the guy nearly got cancelled cos you aint allowed to question the mental side of a young black QB
Chris Simms was saying Fields was inaccurate and took a shocking amount of sacks before the draft. Tons of people in the comments were calling him a racist and saying he doesn't know anything about being a QB in the NFL 😂
Then when Bears fans said Fields sucks, a bunch of people called us racist, meanwhile we're welcoming a new black QB with arms wide open, because he isn't ret*rded 😂
Those same people are nowhere to be found of course.
