As always, great video and being a newbie into camping (just got the cloud peak 2 after watching your review on it and your trio of "new to wild camping" videos, these are fantastic to look into. Those cleaning clothes you put in water are insane! Really appreciate you taking the time to review these. Thanks pal 🙏
On the subject of the Spork, when the food is ready, I just take my sharp knife and hold the bag against a log then, I slice a couple of inches off the top of the bag, then use my normal spoon. With the matches, I take an ordinary box of matches and dip them into molten wax then put them back into the box. I have been dipping the matches into wax for 50 years (not the same matches). I like the magnet idea. As always, a good review. ATB Cheers from the mountains of NZ ☺☺
Thanks for clarifying that it's not the same matches you've been dipping in wax for 50 years. I think I've figured out where I've been going wrong!
😂😂😂
Yep my wife asked me why I need a spork when you can cut the bag down with your swiss army scissors 😂 I hate her sometimes 😂
Great suggestions Andy, thanks for the vid!
Nice list. Very useful items. The magnets looks like a great idea. Won't damage the tent material.
Great post mate. Like the idea with the magnets 👍 just like a lot of others I have been using a peg.
Love the tips from the magnets👍
Nice one Andy so great bits 👍👏👏
Some great items on here, gonna give the magnets a try. I love the wee towels and the stove has worked super for me. Just got the new big agnes zoom mat, not tried it yet but if you jump on page you can see the packed size compared to the rapid, i cant believe how small it is 🙂
I'm in the US but will definitely be looking into some of these 👍💯👍💯
My Tarptent has magnets built-in and it is a great convenience as opposed to the toggle.
Citronella candles are a new one on me, I'll need to try them, I usually just wear a midge net but that doesn't stop them getting inside the tent... The rest I already have!
Great Video
Thanks for the video. Do you know if the foldable water containers are compatible with the sawyer squeeze?
Long spoon is best , does everything better than a fork. Great film good info 👍
Great video
OMG Your hand movements!
I got them magnets ages ago off fleabay. Have to search for headphone tidy.. They'd sell more if relisted as door holders.
1 item i love that i praise is the Marauder Mini torch. its a bit pricey but defo worth it on my long dog walks at night with my 2 big dogs. im looking at getting the naturehike cloud up 3 for me and my 2 dogs. im a small 5ft 3 person so i think this 3 person tent would be good for me in the UK. also thinking what backpack to choose now and want some thing at least 30l up to 48l osprey kestrel. i was thinking maybe the dueter 36l backpack but someone said the straps are not comfortable after long period. edit: also btw bro i love watching ur videos its many times ive watched ur videos on stuff.
I have no idea how you can sit there filming videos in this weather wearing a Supermoon Bio-Hoody! I guess you have aircon on full blast? I have one and I cannot imagine how warm you must be as I'm in the UK and my 'Supermoon' is too warm for the weather we have at the moment.
Keep up the tips. Bought a Fjallraven Skogso (Non-Padded) jacket based on your review and you were dead right on that one!
Sitting here scratching my legs because of midges last night, why didn't I have a candle burning!! Thank you Andy. 😅
Whats that fleece youre wearing Andy?
Nice one Andy, just a quick question, where did you get the tine for the Citronella Candles?
I think there’s a typo? Sorry, what are you asking?
@@BackpackingUK Apologies, I meant where did you get the little tin that the candle is in? I would probably end up burning my tent down🤣
This is perfect timing... Amazon Prime days coming soon...
I think it’s this Tues / Wed. You’ll probably get some of these discounted too!
Personal dry bags. Yup. Organisation etc. Never considered ear plugs though. I don't I need them myself. I don't snore, although I'm told I do. But until i hear the evidence !!!!!!!!
Just watched & enjoyed your Xmid review. Any reason the comments are turned off?
It just got silly. Unfortunately Tarptent and Durston owners can’t take any form of criticism, even if the majority of the review is extremely positive. They’re the same on forums and Facebook too.
Hi Andy, can you recommend a lightweight folding frying pan which really is non stick?
I really rate my Fire Maple pan. However, my mate just uses a small Tefal pan and it works perfectly. It just weighs a bit more than backpacking equivalents. He uses it in both my Brecon Beacons wild camping videos.
I didn’t know Summit to Eat came in larger sizes - but their cost is totally bonkers. For less money I can buy a decent rib-eye steak + veggies. When you take into account the extra water carried for the freeze dried / dehydrated food there is no extra weight. You do need to carry a pan though.
Do you have a link for the matches? I can’t see them it in the description ❤
£5.49 amzn.to/3XKuiZZ
im 54 got the gear banshee 200, oex evo 400 ive camped in the sticks was fine i live in carlisle im considering camping near the river caldew which is close to urban should i go for it and be cautious or go remote i have anxiety of youths throwing stoned etc maybe im just paranoid but every camp needs to be right for you
Camping by rivers is great, I'd just try not to get too close to town!
@@BackpackingUK cheers andy just youths etc that makes me anxious
pps love ya channel
What do you do with a small wet towel?
Stick in in the side pockets or let it hang down. It dries quickly too.
Bit of spam and rice for hi calories
Something for everyone i think here
It is cheap until you buy them all together and the missus finds out 😂😂
When’s your next walk coming ? It seems to have been ages ago since your last
My back and knees went 😢 I’m on the mend now so going to the Peaks for a few days this week. Hopefully I’ll be fine 🤞
@@BackpackingUK ahhh never! I have max issue with my knee. Have to strap it before every walk as I’ve no cartilage (I’m only 30, sports injuries)
How’s it affected you mentally ? Having the time off. It riles me round clock not being able to get out and about 🤦🏼
I live the Scottish accent bro
It's Southern English not Scottish.
Mate why are all the links absolutely nothing like the ones you’ve mentioned in your video
Some were out of stock so I found the nearest thing to them. Whenever I review something it goes out of stock almost immediately 😩
Thanks for the vid. Love gear like this. Gotta get the magnets. Ear plugs are never an option for me. I don't know how you guys do it. Too many Samsquanches . Thanks again!
Lol I carry a lil peg around with me for door flapage 🏕
