- This is a soundtrack recording of the Main Street Electrical Parade at Walt Disney World, from a picture disc (shown) pressed in 1977. I found it at a yard sale, and it appears to be official! Thanks to Mike L and Danny E for their contributions! :D
[LINER NOTES]
The new Walt Disney World "Main Street Electrical Parade" is one of the most unusual parades presented anywhere in the world. Everything in it is made of lights . . . over a half million colorful, twinkling lights . . . that re-create scenes from many of Disney's best loved film classics. A staff of 85 artists and craftsmen created this sparkling moving panorama including the giant glowing butterflies, Cinderella's Pumpkin Coach, Dumbo's Circus and the neon-lighted Mickey Mouse and Pluto. Each summer night, magic comes to "light" as gigantic, luminous parade stages and figures wind their way through a darkened Walt Disney World.
During the parade, each unit features its own musical theme. The fully synchronized melodies and rhythms, produced by an electronic Moog synthesizer, are "on the air." They are transmitted from Cinderella Castle via seven individual FM radio channels to each electrical unit's powerful amplifier/receivers. These delightful musical themes are broadcast to the Walt Disney World guests viewing this dazzling musical procession of fantasy in lights -- the new "Main Street Electrical Parade."

I remember staring at the red circle as it went around and around. I love it!
Happiest song to hear when we were kids at Disney World back in 1978. The music sure is magical still. Cinderella carriage rolling past was very cool.
and I bet you were thinking as the Neon Finale approached you "Why Am I hearing the Closing Announcement and Fanfare (added in '78) *BEFORE* the last float has even passed me?" Simple, Disney World had a different way to track float progression than Disneyland did.
@@disneydanny2 that also happened with the to honor america parade unit at wdw from 1979-1991
It’s time to bring back the classic music of the Main Street Electrical Parade…
as neat as that *WOULD* be, there are *2* reasons it won't happen 1. they wanted more Disney tunes and 2. 1:10-1:19 hear the change to 3-beat tempo towards the end? choreographer's didn't like it.
@@disneydanny2But this sound is better than modern one
0:19 summer is here, you know what that means? Summer nights and summer lights, millions and millions of them shining and sparkling through the street of disneyland. Just the main street electrical parade is back, bigger and brighter than ever. Every night beginning may 27 at disneyland.
5:58 i was expecting the 1978 off key auld lang syne version but i was imagining it
So much better without the voice over 👍
Love this, I was a dancing daisy in ‘ 74, loved the parade, night after night, so much fun.
How old are you?

How old are you? 😂
@@Peggymamma55 i'm 22
@@bradmorales4002
Well, you’re way to young for me now, but you weren’t in ‘74 😜
@@Peggymamma55 i was born in 1998
My brother purchased this short playing record back in 1978 at Disney World thank you RUclips for the upload of this classical Disney soundtrack
I bought this at a swap meet and converted & uploaded it shortly after
0:17 all goes quiet for the buildup
I remember my brother and I astounded when we first heard the beginning notes. we were waiting patiently, but the sound was not expected the first time we went to the parade the first time. great times.
Ummm.... this is why i got into electro disco funk in 80s and then the electro bass later in the mid 90s . Its been implanted in my DNA as a kid witnessing this live and direct. I blame this not all the acid. HAHA
It's cool that I found this. My parents had this record (the California version, I believe), and I used to listen to it a lot as a child. This sounds just like I remember, and the audio quality is so good for being now more than 40 years old.
4:55
was looking all over RUclips for a version with this part, I remember hearing it years ago :D
wait till you hear the description of that float's music that replaced it the following year (picture a group of what sounds like drunk musicians playing "Auld Lang Syne" thankfully that version only lasted one year before Pinocchio Underwater replaced it and would stay in the parade for 6 years ('79-'84)
Same for me, but the part starting at 8:35.
dulcimerrafi the bass line sounds so goood there omg
Main Street Electrical Parade belongs to Disneyland only in my opinion!!!
They can have it, then. SpectroMagic belongs to us, lol
@@changkwangoh Spectro Magic was great, as is the electrical parade. But Spectro Magic had a brilliant orchestral flare to it.
I love this parade Main Street Disneyland
I have this record somewhere. Each time I hear it I am transported back to that warm summer night in Anaheim, standing with my brother next to our parents, watching this otherworldly show. I hope I can share this with my own son someday. The memory brings me to tears.
Yes this should definitely be authentic. I had bought a picture disc from Disneyland California in the 70s and listening to the soundtrack here it sounds exactly like the one I had. I did buy it on Main Street at Disneyland!
that's because all 3 variations of the picture disc were the same, the only differences with the first two were the park names on the picture disc.
@@disneydanny2 very interesting, thank you.
I remember this version . Great memories

I was actually in this parade at Disneyland in 1977 in the Cinderella Unit and as wonderful as the soundtrack was I can’t tell you how sick I was hearing it over and over again. 2 parades each day in the blistering heat. Starting at Small World to end of Main Street and then from Main Street back to Small World. Everyone was a sweaty mess!! First professional performing job right out of High School. Great memories.
I bet the float drivers who drove the whale float in the "Briny Deep" section that year were ecstatic they only had to hear ruclips.net/video/2Wj_4U8F3g0/видео.html for 3 weeks
ironically the way the soundtrack fades out at the end is how Don Dorsey envisioned the soundtrack ending, he felt the closing fanfare concept didn't fit the theme=park setting, thus it was someone higher up in the company (Bob Jani) that convinced him to incorporate the closing fanfare from the Orange Bowl version into the Theme park version, that element would be added in Summer of '78 and the vocoder opening and closing followed the summer of '79.
I remember listening to this as a kid. thank you so much for uploading this
I was looking for it too. Finally found it brings back some really good memories!
I loved that particular version of it.
Did anyone came here because they miss the MSEP? or because they want the MSEP back?
We had Classic Disney Vol. 1-2 which we listened to frequently when I was a kid. Going to see the Main St. Electrical Parade when I was 10, we all almost cried. It was more wonderful than anything we’d conjured up in our minds on the way to school.
I’m in tears! This brought back so many memories! Thanks for sharing!!
Hearing this from my late father’s turntable was astonishing… I felt like i was in a trance.
interesting fact, in total there were 3 different releases of this soundtrack (1 each for both California & Florida with their respective park names, while the 3rd just had a generic Disney's Main Street Electrical Parade on the picture (presumably so that version could be sold on both coasts)
The 3rd vinyl was released on japan in 1986 despite that tokyo disneyland had a unique version of the parade which features the peter pan parade unit, swan lake and the seven dwarfs parade unit but they never had the briny deep and neon finale parade units
@@brandonthemainstreetelectr1204 and even the TDLEP soundtrack was initially a record just like this with the same audio quality, the stereo version didn't exist until around '95 when the parade was in it's final year in Tokyo.
4:35 describes Disney as of now perfectly
0:19 I'm hearing Kraftwerk influence.
The 1973 vinyl has the speed of 33 1/3 rpm and the 1977 vinyl like this one had the speed of 33 1/2 rpm
I was wrong, both discs have the speed of 33 1/3 rpm
man this makes me think my mother is a basketball
how many of these 7 inch picture discs were done i bought one at disneyland in the 1980s
Where is the ending announcement
This is the 1977 Parade and it was before the Opening and Closing announcements in 1979
,Tokyo legoland electrical parade
I love this parade Main Street Disneyland
