BIGGEST HiFi Room Acoustics Mistake - Audiophile Setup

- You're using the wrong hifi room acoustic treatments. I show the CORRECT audiophile room acoustic product types for your mancave and listening room.
Which high end audio room acoustic treatment type is best for an audiophile? AGS. GIK. Others? I try several different kinds from high end audio diffusion to high end audio absorption and report on my findings.
I've been unable to get the best performance out of HiFi System due to fighting with room acoustic issues and have finally solved that!

I really like your unique down to earth/normal format - maybe it’s just you being yourself.
Thank you!
I think if there's one metric we should all be able to agree upon, it's that a room's reverb/decay characteristics (RT60) will have perhaps the most significant influence over the fidelity of recorded music reproduction. These stick "diffuser" devices may perform well in your room, but they will do little to correct modal activity (and to your credit, you recommended thick absorbers to address bass frequencies [worth noting is that velocity absorbers like 6" porous absorbers work primarily down to mid bass only]) and little to correct a very reverberant space (regardless of size).
Thanks Michael for the comment. That's the great thing about this hobby - learning as you go!
Interesting take on a unique product.
Thank you for watching.
Okay this a random vid i was waiting for in terms of those treatments…thx!
Thanks for watching!
That's because most absorbers aren't designed for music and voice. Most of them are some type of mineral wool, which has the wrong rate and level. That's the reason why they sound dead, the material used is simply not meant for music. But people buy them because they're cheap and the Internet tells them to.
Hi Michael, I'm new to the channel, good video, I agree you can overdo it with treatment. Love the look of those speakers what are they? Thanks.
Hi - Thank you for watching. They are Tobian 12FH speakers and you can learn more about them here: www.suncoastaudio.com/collections/tobian-sound-systems-1
I should have a video review on them in the next few weeks.
Hi Michael, great video and very interesting products but those things on the floor of a mixed use room are a big hazard and look funky. Instead why not hanging them on the ceiling?
Let me guess …. the diffuser falling apart is a GIK Acoustics ?
They have been in business for 20 years and their craftsmanship is still at DIY level. I have six of their Sound Block in my room behind the speakers. Effective product but poorly built, and poorly packaged. Half of the scatter plates arrived chipped.
I had an argument with them and basically got thrown under the bus.
Instead I have to praise Vicoustics from Portugal which I used to treat the ceiling with a mix of absorption and diffusion products. Sleek modern look and well built. They definitely belong to another league. I will soon throw away the GIK Sound Block and replace them with the Vicoustic Totem Ultra which I demo and works great so that all the acoustic treatment in my room will finally belong to the 21st century. May be I’ll give it a try to the SF1 also…
Hello! The wife would not allow me to hang anything from the ceiling. Plus it's really easy to simply move the floor ones off to the side or into the closet when not in use. I'm selling my GIK panels if anyone needs any. LOL
I painted my quadratic diffusers (QD-13) black. I don’t hear any difference in the affected range 280-3400hz but now you’ve got me curious. Going to look at some older REW measurements and see if anything has changed
I believe the no paint rule is specific to these as it state do not pain in the manual. The density and reflectivity of these is very specific.
I am unable to find anything online that shows me who is distributing these products and how to actually purchase them - what distributer did you go through for the US? Thank you!

Is there a link to AGS? I was looking at Vicoustic for my new media room, but it’s expensive. They also seem more focused on absorption. I love your channel. You have interesting content that you dive deeper into than others.
Thank you for watching. Here is the link with info. The AGS is definitely more expensive per unit, but in my experience you need so few of them that the total price is the same or less with AGS vs. others. www.noe.co.jp/en/download/pdf/AGS-English.pdf
@@GreekAudioGeek thanks.
Happy to help! Let me know if you have any questions on my personal experience with AGS and I'm happy to answer. To be honest, I'm now going to be selling some of my GIK absorbers. LOL.
@@GreekAudioGeekThank you for the great review. It makes a lot of sense to use circular rods to diffuse sound wave. Can you please post a link for on-line order these from US?
You're going to love them. I think your best bet is to reach out to the distributor either via their web site form or call them. Here is their link: axissaudio.com/
Where on the link to aas can you find the diffusers? All i see is audio gear.
I don't think the distributor has it on their site yet. You can email them or call them: www.axissaudio.com
How much is the AGS MINI Michael ?
Absorption was designed for recording studios. That's my belief, at least. I think they can have a place for hifi.. just depends on your room.
I agree. I think many people (me included) tend to over use them as the mantra on the forums always seems to be absorb, absorb, absorb.
@MichaelsHiFiAdventures I appreciate your videos on this. It's not easy finding audiophiles doing this to their room in "real life" scenarios. Most I come across in foreums, and youtube have the money for dedicated listening rooms or don't have wives. Seeing how this works in a common room is helpful. :)
Thank you for watching. I agree - it's tough to find "real life" scenarios in many of these videos.
Recording studios and HiFi rooms both play music. They don't differ from one another when it comes to making the room sound good. It's the use-case and the practicality that are different.
@@djhmax09 Certainly true. I think - not saying I am right - that recording studios have different goals for the kind of sound they have in the room than a hifi room. At least that's what my recording engineer friends tell me.

How much is the AGS mini Michael ?
Hi - I'm not sure the current price. The distributor can help you: axissaudio.com/contact/
Thanks Michael ! Love your videos !
Frist like😊
Sorry for this nit-pick. But please, please, learn to pronounce Callas.
Totally agree. When I talk without a script as I do sometimes I mess things up. Thanks for watching.
