Didn't thought about the placement of the affiliate links, thanks for the pro tip Teppo! :) All these tips are gold, but I think specially when someone is starting out is to manage your expectations, how many people will actually buy / use your affiliate links. I'm below 1k subs and got about 100$ of Amazon affiliate earning for 2023. For me it's amazing, but others might be dissappointed, since they expected something else. When you are starting you still have to build an audience and in my opinion even more important - trust. If people don't trust you, why should they spend their money on you? That's why do my best to build that part and hopefully the money will follow afterwards - based on these great tips.
Thank you for this Teppo 🙏. I made growing RUclips one of my main 2024 goals. This has made getting started on the monetization stuff so much easier. So thank you man. - A fellow Southern Ontario creator
Great tips. This video would have been awesome a couple of years ago when I was trying to figure out how to make some money. Love that you're putting this out there for new creators!
3:26 A word of caution on that matter: Say someone clicks YOUR affiliate link, puts the item in their cart, BUT THEN they go to another blog or channel & click on a NEW affiliate link, adds that item to cart & checks out... Well, THAT person gets the credit for that entire cart, not you. Not even a little bit. There's a recency bias on the links. Still 1000% worth it to sign up & utilize it. But just be aware of how it works. Yes, there's a 24hr credit applied to your acct for your link, but as soon as that person clicks a new/different affiliate link, yours gets voided.
It does not really make sense not turning ads on. There were ads on my videos even before I got monetized, even before I reached the monetization requirements, which means youtube will advertise on your content weather you turn it on or not, by turning it on you at least get to share in the profit. (I am talking about preroll adds, not shure if midrolls would be put on if you dont select it in studio)
I get nervous on putting the links at the top as when people scroll videos to watch, they won't see anything more about the video to convince them to click in... but if they ARE watching, I can definitely see a higher conversion of clicks per views. Ah the balancing game! I assume you have tested with this back and forth? Anyways, great vid and almost 100k!!!
Awesome ideas Teppo! I gotta get my digital products out there, thanks for the Sellfy recommendation. For others reading, links above your description works wonders. I also found that self commenting a link and pinning it in the comments works well for your main product link. Putting too many links in the first comment sometimes backfires so don’t overdo it.
New monetization rules are 500 subscribers and 3,000 watch hours which is limited monetization for long form. Long-form: You get everything expected Super Chat on your livestream. For Shorts: You need 10 million public Shorts views in the past 90 days. Just clarifying that for the viewers.
Hey Teppo! I love your videos and actually starting out on a YT channel journey. Unless I'm wrong, you can add links until your monetized, this is a hurdle I've run into. From what I've seen and read, it prompts you to sign up to the YT program before you can link out in description or cards. :(
It is correct about the Amazon affiliate deals but they will cut you off if you don't send anybody, if your videos don't get views or people leave early..
Hi Teppo! I am using Sony ZV-E10. Would the luts work? I am using HLG 3. Thanks! As always, very informative. I love that you’re helping out beginners like me :)
Great options! I thought that you lost your affiliate links if it's not used, meaning you need to have that many clicks to keep it working... is that correct?
Amazon has that clause. You need to make 3 qualifying sales in 180 days of being approved for the Associates program. If you don't make 3 sales during that initial period, you get taken out of the program. You can just reapply later & try again tho.
1:41 That is not entirely true. I've seen plenty of platforms asking for requirements in order to join ther affiliate programs. Things like number of views, audience size, niche topics, etc. Another thing with affiliate programs it's that they don't work since day 1, especially if you are nobody with 0 audience and small amount of content. 5:03 The same here. If you are nobody and your audience is 0 or really small, digital product mean shit because nobody will buy them.
Great video 👍🏻 Could you also make like a tutorial how an own but or lutpack can be created to sell digitally? I was searching everywhere but did not found any good informations 😢 Thank you 🙏🏻😊
@@TeppoHaapoja basically the whole process 😁 1) creating a lut / template 2) creating and importing it so that it's compatible with every software and OS 3) create a website where to sell the templates and luts Etc ... Would really appreciate it 😊
Great video as always, I’m in that process and I wanted to ask you maybe you have a good advice, do you know a good way to improve the SEO of my RUclips videos? Maybe. You know a good software or website, great advice and for sure I will use them, great to see that you’re almost in 100k

It's not clickbait. Or maybe we need a new word for clickbait. Since people have redefined it for meaning a clickable video.
