Happy Sunday amigos! Have you already printed some of your photos? I’ve been guilty of not doing this before and now I’m obsessed! 😍 I hope you enjoyed this video and it helps you to make some income with what we love! Big hug to everyone! ❤
With one year of stock photography, and a 1000 of uploaded photos, I earned $50 😁 And beautiful photos from travel destinations are not selling at all, don't even try it. I uploaded bunch of really cool ones, with hours of editing, and I sold maybe one (for 10 cents 😂) I'm only selling the random ones that I thought that nobody would buy, with almost no editing, like random hotel or shop entrances, street signs, rare cars, products (beer cans, milk bottles), I even sold some random wall engraving for $5 😂 From now on, only quantity 😅
I'll add that calendars probably wouldn't sell either. I mean, when is the last time you or anybody you know, bought a calendar? Everybody uses the calendar on their phone, computer or both. The biggest problem I see is that the market is so over saturated becaue you can use pictures from your cell phone if you just need the pictures to advertise online. You only need high resolution / quality photos for prints.
This year I started thinking about trying to make money from my photography, but I realized I was thinking about it the wrong. First I need to learn how to take photographs that are worth something. I'm getting better, but I still have to develop my skills.

Another great video Laura. Thank you so much for this. ❤I watch a select few photographers on RUclips that I find impact me personally and you are one of them. You have inspired me in so many different levels. I found the courage to enter the Britsh Photography Awards competition about a month ago and my photo was SHORTLISTED. Laura, nice to meet you. First time viewer. You have fun charisma. Question: at 12:01 in video you mention some kind of desktop software suggesting we download it for making photo items. Were you showing a specific software program to download? Thank you for some Inspiration 😊
hi Laura, I am fired up with my passion once again..my gears are just sitting down collecting dusts in the shelves and it's really not a good thing. there are times that I would like to sell them (my gears) but I just can't do it, thank you for keeping your followers, viewers motivated.
Never ever sell that gear! 👀😄 It’s normal to feel that way from time to time. As creatives, we really punish ourselves with negative thought or the famous “impostor syndrome”. Just go out there and create. Enjoy the journey. 🥰 I’m so happy to know that my videos keep you inspired and motivated. Passion always wins, remember that when you have doubts. 🙏🏼💪🏼❤️
Hola Rob! 😍 Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy this one. I’m starting my travels in just 2 weeks. 🫠 So my posting schedule may change a bit. @@LauraBC Yes, I definitely enjoy it. I started to watch your channel a few weeks ago. I can learn a lot from your videos and I'm interested in studio photography, of course only on a hobby level. When you mentioned in one of your videos what it was like to move to England, it reminded me of my old self, because I had similar impressions when I moved here. 😅¡Que tenga un buen día!
Thank you so much again for this video Laura! When I am in London, would it be possible to book a workshop with you? I like your explanations and teaching a lot 😊
You’re most welcome Sandra! 😍 And thank you so so much! So nice to know that you like my work and my videos. I’m leaving London very soon. So I won’t be able to do workshops. But I’m planning to do in the future in other countries so who knows! 😍❤️🙏🏼
Lots of interesting ideas, thank you for sharing… I utilized Saal several years ago to create a book (single copy). It wound up being 16”x12” and 30 some odd pages. I’d started with a smaller template but decided I wanted my photos much larger, thus even with the $150 voucher coupon I still spent an additional $150. It was not an inexpensive book but the quality was wonderful save for one problem. The covers had a “curl” in them that did not flatten for a year or so. I’m thinking because the book was produced in Germany the humidity was much higher than ours in the USA desert southwest and it took a while to equalize… Subscribed.
Question ! Are you sure you can sell landscape photography postal card from a city like New-York without asking permission ? It must have a legislation ?
Hi Marie! If you take photos of a particular building, you must ask permission to the architect. But if the photo shows a lot of buildings without any of them being the point of attention, in theory, it’s ok. BUT, always ask in your city how this works as laws are very different from one country to another. 🙏🏼
It's not a problem at all to sell photos, calendars, postcards of any building in NYC, the biggest challenge is because you are selling a physical item, you are subject to may NYC tax laws regarding selling retail physical items. Even on a 3rd party site like Etsy.
@@PicturesofNewYork Good to know! 🙏🏼 In London you have to ask permission to the architect if the main point of attention is a particular building. When it's for commercial use it works that way. And yeah, regarding tax laws, every country is different. Thanks for sharing your knowledge about how it works in NY. ❤
@@LauraBC What law says that in England? I'm not sure there is any such rule. Have any photographers or publishers been sued for selling a photo of a building without permission. We have the so-called "freedom of panorama" law to allow photographers to take and sell photos of buildings. There's a lot less freedom for photographer of buildings etc in France, most famously with restrictions on showing the illuminations of the Eiffel Tower.
@@barneylaurance1865 There is a law. In London they literally kick you out from outside the building if they see you with a camera. It happened to me a few times. When I was working as a creative director, we had to ask permission to the architect if we wanted to shoot with the models with the buildings in the background. And in stock photography, they don’t accept photos showcasing a specific building if you don’t have an artist release. You can’t also make commercial use of photos. Of course you can risk it and maybe nobody finds out. Many people do it. But unfortunately there are many annoying laws. 😅 It’s up to you to follow them or not.
Yesss! 😍 For now I can't ask my clients to appear on RUclips. It would be very unprofessional. Lately I've been shooting a lot with international music artists and people who are not professional models. If they struggle to pose in front of my camera, imagine asking them to pose for millions of people on YT. 😅 But on my travels I want to collaborate with models who are happy to do it so I can record some behind the scenes. ❤️
Laura, I have a proposition for you. And you gonna like that, but you won't be sure about this for a second. SO.. I have an idea for a video or even a few (!) as you can title "Using M43 system to portrait photography" or "Trying Micro Four Thirds on photo shoot", and yes I wanna see how are you dealing with that system! That would be inspiring for other people. Not everyone are using Fullframe, and also people who use APS-C are not sure about M43! You can do that, just for fun. I wish you rent OM-1 and some primes like 17 f1.2 , 25 f1.2 or even 45 mm f1.2, 75 f1.8 and try it in all conditions (good light, bad light, studio, high iso, normal iso, etc...), then post process that like white balance, delete noises and all of that and compare to the same equivalent of your full frame camera like picture to picture. That would be really awesome content too! :D
