  • Looking likely that Beryl will make landfall over or just east of Matagorda Bay, Texas as a low-end Category 1 hurricane in the overnight hours on Monday morning, July 8th.
Highest wind impacts will be in the eyewall in the landfall location, but wind gusts could easily reach hurricane force across the Houston metro tomorrow morning. Also in the remnant eyewall as Beryl starts to move inland. The remnant core of Beryl could still produce gusts as high as 50-60mph across northeast Texas Monday night.
Rainfall could be significant over southeast Texas where a feeder band could set up right over the Houston metro. Significant flash flooding is possible for southeast Texas wherever this feeder band sets up. Total rainfall up to 15" is possible in the heaviest hit locations. Much of southeast Texas should receive 7-12" of rainfall. Inland flooding is likely across northeast Texas into Arkansas where 3-6" of rain is likely through Tuesday, July 9th.
Tornadoes will be possible in the eastern flank over far eastern Texas, western Louisiana, and Arkansas on Monday.
Beyond Tuesday, the remnant center of Beryl moves north into Indiana and Michigan where a streak of 2-4" of rainfall is likely. Some flooding is possible in Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, and Lower Michigan.
In addition, enhanced shear on its eastern side could bring a low-end tornado threat for Missouri, Tennessee, and Kentucky on Tuesday, and then Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York on Wednesday.
Wind gusts across the Ohio Valley, Great Lakes, and Northeast will reach 30-45mph on Wednesday and Thursday.
