what a load of BS. this female pilot is not breaking down barriers, that was done a long time ago. If this female pilot was not fit to be in that fighter she would not be there. of course is good at her job, she is a well trained American service woman.
I like how the F-18 taking off has no missiles on board, then later it shows the F-18 firing a Sidewinder missile ... an air-to-air missile, not an air-to-ground missile, but then shows the burning ship ............................. hmmmmmm. Really?
Well, they don't carry Go-Pro for the public. Nor do they have a video game video with the F-35 to demonstrate a reenactment of the air strike...

So is she flying an F-35 OR an F-18 because the footage you've shown has both aircraft BUT the cockpit view of the missile leaving the wing tip is an F-18 ???

En realidad si fueron ambos aviones, (F35 y F18 , el misil salió de un F18 y no del f35. Acá pusieron algo de video real y algo de video juego al comienzo.Los F35 pueden llevar misiles en las alas, pero normalmente los que estan en portaviones no estan configurados así, porque pierden su furtividad. Además es más complicado de volver a colocar el misil dentro de un F35 que en el ala del F18.

Check your facts. The videos with the wing tip Sidewinder missiles is actually an F18 Hornet. The bomb racks as well. The F35 has all internal mounts. Thus reducing the radar image.

I understand the misses on the F35 are kept internally until launch due to the stealth configuration and launched from the bottom of the jet.
She took off in a F18 not a 35 maybe do some more research? The video clipping switching between the 2 fighters was awful too, you can clearly see the difference.
So the video shows a missile coming off of an F-18, not an F-35. I'm sorry for all of you who thought that missile was from the new aircraft, but you need to look closer at the color of the fighter plane. Plus, if you watch as the planes taxi down the tarmac, you can see the difference of the two aircrafts.

I have some questions. Wouldn’t an A 10 Thunderbolt be able to destroy these ships? How much does an F 35 cost per hour of flight compared to the Warthog? What does a sidewinder misleading cost compared to a few rounds of Warthog ammunition? Are we making the best use of our resources?
an A-10 is not a naval plane like the F 18 or F 35C
Of course it would = Best darned air cover plane ever! But the Air force wants new, expensive toys, not a $16 million 1000% reliable workhorse.
This F-35 most likely launched off the deck of an amphibious assault ship, something the A-10 can't do. In a situation like that, you need a jet that can respond rapidly, you can't wait for the subsonic A-10 to come in from a land base.
I think Side Winders are air to air weapons and would not be used on a small ship
