The JASDF worked often at my base in Kadena. Out of all the militaries I've met, their jets looked the best maintenance-wise and their crews were EXTREMELY professional. Good guys. I knew then and there that I could trust them with my life if it came down to it. Glad to have such great allies.
Who ever thought Japan and US became best allies. Just 80 Years ago, Japan lost 4 millions lives killed by US.American lost one millions Soldiers killed by Japan.
I would love to see how the Japanese approach aircraft maintenance.
totally agree , lucky to have them as allies.
@@danielraul1989
From what I saw and was told, if they find a single drop of random fluid coming from their jets, they’ll take the whole thing apart to find the leak. I’ve seen our own F-15’s take off hemorrhaging fuel, hydraulic fluid, and whatever random fluids that day and the production supervisor said “oh yeah, it’s good to fly”. Their jets are COVERED in safety pins (some mechanical and some both electrical and mechanical like the gun safety pins) because that jet will NOT do a single thing without them either knowing or allowing it.
@@danielraul1989 Very meticulously i'd be willing to bet.. 🤔

I have an acquaintance who knows a Navy FA-18 pilot who has flown alongside Japanese pilots during training exercises, and he says without a doubt Chinese fighter pilots don't stand a chance in air to air combat with Japanese jet jockeys. They are truly some of the best in the world, much respect.😎
China has nuclear weapons so it doesn't matter how good Japanese pilots are.

Domo arigatou gozaimusu Kazari-san, I have had access to the F-15 but it was most enjoyable seeing through your eyes. I know the Commander laughed when he took you on a barrel roll. That would have been great to see. But honestly, the most advanced craft on the base brought me back to my 7 years in Yokosuka. I have great respect for Japan’s Self Defense Force, we hosted them on my CG and on my DDG during war games. Thank you kindly for sharing your experiences, this will help many more Japanese appreciate what the Self Defense Force does for the lives they enjoy. I retired in watashi no saiai no Nippon in 2009, with my mother I flew in from the US and 15 of warships no tomodachi. I have returned to my former residencies on Don Don street in Yokohama, and in Yasura Cho…it still brings tears of joy as neighbors and shop owners scream to me, “Dan-san anata ga inakute sabishi!” Subscribed

What's always interesting is that if Japan really wanted to, it could create a jet as capable or even better than the F-15. The fact that they don't need to, helps their defense requirements.
You might want to do a little searching. They are, along with Italy and the UK

Great video! You didn’t even take flight and I learned more about the F-15 than I ever knew previously! By the way, the pilot suit looks like it belongs on you - totally legitimate.
One thing about the Japanese is they take such good care of their aircraft. Even a lot of their older aircraft are in great condition.

How cool! I appreciated all the close up views of the different parts of the jet - the vanes on the back of the engine were especially cool to see operate. I also *really* appreciated your enthusiasm 👍😁 It’s great to see the SDF get this attention and positive publicity. (I was disappointed that you didn’t actually get to take off though 😕)
I enjoy hearing the Japanese language, I’ve been missing Japan, but will be coming back in just another month for a 3-week visit :-) I speak and understand only a few words of Japanese, but it’s nice hearing it because it reminds me of being there - Tokyo is my “happy place” & I can’t wait to be back 😃

Dave, I miss Japan, too; been 35 years since I left there, after a two and a half year stay. It's always good to hear Japanese-it starts coming back to me.
no flight, because she must go through much more training with safety procedures. Probably take 1 day of pre training, on safety and procedures. Even just as a passenger.
@@polysporin8332 You know in France, you can fly with just a briefing and a medical test 😅
There was an accident with a Rafale of the French Air Force in march 2019. A man (in a big armament company) for his retirement gets as a gift, a flight in a Rafale. To keep the surprise, his colleagues didn't tell him. He knew that he was flying in rafale a few hours before the take off. he does the briefing, and do a check with the medic. He says to the medic that he never be in a plane and he was a Little anxious. The medic attempt to call the pilot to limit the flight to 2G. But the pilot was in briefing and never had the call. Anyway, in France, the pilots can’t adapt their flight to civilians. And It was a combat flight… In the taxiway, there is photos of the Guy, taken by his colleagues. The helmet not correctly attached and not correctly attached to his seat. He greets his friends before the take off. Results? The Rafale takes 5/6G at the take off. The guy was Out of the world and logically sunk in his seat. After the pilot put some positive G to get back through the gate. The guy started to get out of his seat. Panic. his reflex was to sit back in his seat. But he pull off the ejection seat handle. during the guy was in the air and get some fun with the birds, The pilot (who was the commander of the base with a lot of hours on Rafale) directly understand. if the Rear seat (Martin Baker F16F) was ejected, his seat follow 0,5s after (If its the pilot who decide to eject, the rear seat is ejected 0.17s after the pilot decide and the pilot is ejected 0,33s after). but the pilot was still in the plane. he know there is a problem with the ejection seat and can be ejected at anytime. He emptied his tanks above a forest and landed.
The investigation report was spicy for the French Air Force. Many mistakes were made. First if you these kind of flight you do the different check One or Two weeks before. But in this case, it was not effected (maybe because one his friends was an retired fightet pilot). Also In the air force the mechanics don’t attach or check the belt, its the role of the pilot or of the Navigator. But in the navy, the mechs do this. The guy had theses procedures during the briefing but with the stress… In the report, The experts therefore suggested drawing inspiration from the methods of the Navy…

Gives me a warm, happy feeling to see the Japanese use and admire the F-15. I work at Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, Texas, where the majority of F-16s were made. So of course I'm partial to the F-22, F-35 and the F-16. But there is no denying what an iconic, fantastic machine the F-15 is.
As an American and prior service US Marine, I'm extremely proud of and thankful for our strong partnership with Japan. There is so much to admire about a society and culture that puts such a high value on the concept of, "If you are going to do something........do it the very best that you can". There are so many examples of this in Japanese culture; from Wagyu beef to Samurai swords to consumer electronics.
It's amazing to consider that just a few generations ago, we were MAJOR enemies! And now, we are about as close as two countries could be. Long live our friendship and long live Japan!

I love the amount of excitement in this video :) I think anyone who would get a change to fly a fighter jet in the backseat enjoys themselves.
I was an F-15 Crewchief for 19 years out of my total of 22 years in the USAF. It was great to watch this video as there was an amazing amount of detail that you followed on our preflight checks during launch. Through the checks on the engine nozzles, air intake ramps and such things only us maintenance people really know about. The sounds are just pure "ear-gasm" for us maintainers so the sounds alone are worth tuning in for. I guess I missed the fact about the pilot wasn't going to fly that day..? Or something, I was surprised that they didn't fly and it was just a high-speed taxi event. Having had a flight in one of our two-seaters at Tyndall AFB I would highly recommend getting a ride in a fighter like that if you get the opportunity, definitely a 'bucket-list' item for sure!
