A tip from a CS person with 10+ exp: DO NOT open links from that kind of emails unless you know a secure way to do it. (Virtual machines are the way, and it takes some work to figure it out)
I'm a person that has so little technology experience that I'm surprised that I can comment this to you, and I thought not clicking links was common knowledge..
i feel like a vm would be really excessive here. if you use a vpn and a private browser it should be fine on mobile. if you're talking about a pc browser the same would apply. use a browser geared towards privacy+vpn. the person visiting the site would have to agree to a download, which they arent doing in the first place
