    1 thing to add...
I forgot to mention "the worst draft class in recent memory by a specific team". That honor goes to the Tennessee Titans in 2013, which scored a -108.2 CAVOE according to ESPN.
1st Rd- Chance Warmack OL (bad pick in a bad year... started 3 years before becoming backup)
2nd Rd- Justin Hunter WR (career backup... never reached 500 yards in a season)
3rd Rd- Blidi Wreh-Wilson DB (spent 3 years with Titans before being waived)
3rd Rd #2- Zaviar Gooden LB (2 years with Titans before also being waived)
4th Rd- Brian Schwenke C (best value pick... 2 yr starter and played 5 seasons in Tennessee)
5th Rd- Lavar Edwards DE (1 year with Titans before waived)
6th Rd- Khalid Wooten DB (lasted 1 year in NFL... 3 total games)
7th Rd- Daimion Stafford DB (4 year backup in Tennessee)

Look to their division for the answer, the Pates; have(had) a system to get the most out of mostly no name individuals that were drafted to fit into that system, getting free agents that fit the mold as well. We're finding out that one player was the catalyst, but they had the most ridiculous run in the Super Bowl era history. Looks like it's the Chiefs turn now. The Jets haven't had much of a standard, system or identity that I can recall, other than Ryan's brief stint.

I mean... a LOT of those early round draft picks that usually guarantee high AV and should have undeniable physical talents to be traded later if you can't develop them properly went into QBs - the very position where players need the most technical development and are dependent on surrounding cast and general offense, if they don't make it in the first year of play, they are labelled busts and super hard to trade on - that rarely happens to defensive or offensive line 'slot' players whose physical talent can shine even under bad coaching and who can often be traded even if they don't perform too well initially

Drafting is one thing, but coaching and organization are hugely important factors in a players' success. A strong organization can help a talented player reach his potential.
Take a guy like Travis Kelce, for example, who had maturity question marks coming out of college. Put him on NY Jets with a defensive minded head coach and close to Manhattan and I think his career goes very differently.
I use Andy Reid as a prime example of a coach being able to handle guys with off the field questions. Pete Carroll is very similar in that regard. Mike Tomlin also comes to mind. I think that's why these teams tend to "draft well".

Fun fact (about good draft picks): During the 3rd Round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Philadelphia’s GM Howie Roseman wanted to trade up and select Russell Wilson, but his power was far from absolute, and he couldn’t get it done. Afterwards Roseman said, that if another QB with Wilson’s upside was still within reach on Day 2, he would take him even if it didn’t make sense on paper. Enter Jalen Hurts.

I think the biggest problem for Dallas is Jones, but its not culture based. Its because he hires terrible coaches. Garret, McCarthy, these guys aren't in the top 1000 people I would want coaching my NFL team. Than they luck into a pretty good OC in Moore and they blame him lol. Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but Dallas is going to be worse this year than last year and it has nothing to do with the talent on the field, they have a really talented team. It has to do with lack of talent on the sidelines.

Panthers are better at drafting than they get credit for; CMC, DJ Moore, Cam Newton, Luke Kuechly, Julius Peppers, Jaycee Horn, Jordan Gross, Thomas Davis, Johnathan Stewart, John Beason, Dan Morgan, Brian Burns, and DeAngelo Williams have all made at least one pro-bowl.
Derrick Brown, Chris Gamble, and Star Lotuleiei were All-Rookies. All of these players have been drafted since 2000.

It's SO easy to miss on 1st rounders. You have to pay them like proven starters and MOST of the time, they FOLD under the pressure. The hardest thing for a team to do is to be patient and develop players correctly, like how the Titans did with Steve McNair. If they'd put him in too fast, he might not have had the career he did. Many guys come out and go to desperate teams and the pressure and situation tears their career apart.

Becoming a losing team is a hole that's hard to get out of. You either can't sign good players since no one wants to be on a losing team, or the good players you DID sign leave after a year or two since they want to actually win. Last season gave a little bit of hope and while I don't think Rodgers will stay that long since he's at the age most player retire, I'm hoping he'll revitalize morale on the team and maybe even be a role model for other QBs on the team

Are we the only 0nes out here to see the low ball pics of the Seahawks around 2016 to 2022 … Or is it the coaching…? I love team speed or should i say super quick players on offense but we only seem to see those players on other teams…! I’m not sure who calls plays for the Seahawks but I’ve watched too many games when they think they can run up the middle or throw that quick out to the side lines pass and lose yards or no gain at all , time after time after … well you get it..! I really think the Seahawk offense runs the plays against its own Defence in practice and expect it to work on SUNDAY…LOL…! 🫨🤔🤣

The biggest draft busts are those who when their rookie contracts come to a close and they get high end extensions their play then seriously declines. The other bust part of that is they eat up cap space then also.

It is worth noting that AV is a general and approximated stat and doesnt account for a lot of things. Kickers get the short end of the stick a bit; Evan McPherson had an AV of 4 in his 2021 season, which is less than some backup OLs who started half the season, but you ask any GM in the league and they'd tell you a kicker of McPherson's caliber is less interchangeable than a backup O-Lineman.

    • @clark2501
      @clark2501 7 месяцев назад

Stats and/or the ranking and grading of players in terms of AV and PFF scores only tell a part of the story. Nothing trumps tape and you need to have a good idea of how the game works and the schemes being run to determine who made good or bad decisions, good or bad plays and so on. Those aforementioned items above give causal and even more engrossed fans a general idea on who’s performing below, at, or above standard, without having to invest a lot of time into being able to dissect film to truly see those top and bottom performers.
