Thats so weird. Here in Brazil people uses every kind of flying things and everybody likes it, no one calls the cops. I cant understand why these people call cops to a Guy in a glider. In my city people come from all around the world for paragliding competitions.

Tailwheel Hawaii Hey man, I know it was a bit back that you commented this, but I just became a part 107 commercial drone pilot, and I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about people calling the cops on drones because they are 1) loud 2) flying over their property 3) ‘taking pictures of their house/car/kids/property/trash cans’ and in the stories I have heard - all but 1 actually - the officer is on the side of the person who calls - I mean this is pretty common I guess, albeit strange - but then they come over and tell the pilot essentially that they have to stop, and even if the pilot explains that it’s legal, or that they are certified by the FAA to be doing it, etc. the cop will say something like in this video, ‘well just keep it to a minimum’ or, ‘make sure you aren’t flying over their house since it’s disturbing them’ or something to the effect of, ‘okay, fine, I can’t stop you, but please stop’ and I guess I am trying to ask, seriously, not trying to sound like a jerk or anything, what is the best way to continue doing your completely legal activity as much as you want and wherever you want (I.e. not ‘keeping it to a minimum’ or ‘avoiding their house’ - as long as it’s legal) when you are getting the cops called. The FAA recommends a high visibility vest identifying yourself as an FAA certified pilot. They say it’s good for public opinion and stuff, so I bought one, and I figure that will help make the conversation a bit at least letting them know that I’m a professional, in the middle of doing my job, instead of the officer assuming I’m just out flying my drone upsetting people as a hobby, but I’m still seriously worried about having a negative interaction when I meet my first cop that knows nothing about FAA regulations in general or about part 107 (and hey, I am not expecting them to; they aren’t the FAA), but when they tell me it’s illegal, and I need to do it for my job (and it isn’t illegal) I’m not really sure where to go from there, you know?
Ashby Technologies Hi, first off thats great your doing commercial work! Ya it is so hard when someone in the community who doesn’t know the law calls the Police who respond to a complaint and make a decision and they don’t know the law! You have done the right thing by checking with the FAA/FISDO for guidance. I would in the future respectfully show the officer your pilot cert., this will give you more ( I am just not some dude flying a drone) but rather a professional doing work. Then show a copy of FAA rules and explain “I am a professional like them doing a job within the perimeters of the law”. Followed up with “I am sorry for their inconvenience I will try to minimize the impact”! So in a nutshell, help educate the officer respectfully and they will relate to their peers the contact and in the future when they respond to a similar case you will save the next guy any hassles. Hope this helps and feel free to message anytime. Good luck with your business!!
Cops: 911 what's your emergency? Karen: yeah there is a guy flying around. Cops: pardon? Karen: I said there is a guy flying around here! Cops: have you taken any medication today ma'am?

Tucker, as a police officer for 23 years and a newbie paramotor pilot myself (only 2 years), from the bottom of my heart, I can't thank you enough for this video! As I began watching, I had my fingers crossed and by the end I found myself wondering how best to thank you. I could go on for pages but I think what made me smile most about it is that it's a snap shot of how things can and should be... no arguments, no egos, just simply human beings... the police doing their best to do their jobs and you doing your best to be an ambassador of something you feel passionate about and in the end, all are better for it. Tucker, you and flyguyalberta were my inspirations to get into the sport that I now have to come love very much and you both continue to inspire and educate me as I continue to better myself as a new pilot. As a law nerd and someone getting into this sport there are definitely laws that could be enforced depending on situations beyond what the FAA says. Supreme court cases overrule anything from a regulatory commission. For instance land owners also own the airspace above so if you disturb the land or occupants there you can actually be arrested and held liable (US v Causby). Also there are public nuisance laws. All that being said if you're not being stupid about it you shouldn't ever deal with any issues from a legal standpoint. I really appreciate how polite and professional you were in these. When combined with being knowledgeable that goes a long way to protect yourself but also protect possible future regulations from being passed to restrict what should be a very free sport.
Clip#3: If that irate guy who called the police were with the FBI, he probably would have showed his badge and ID and stayed around until the cops arrived. Otherwise he's an impersonator and a fraud. @@nathanielhallmanjr5809 if you imply that you are part of the police in any capacity you can be arrest for impersonation of an officer there just has to be proof.
Watching this, I got an idea: maybe you should consider keeping like a little packet you can hand out with a FAQ and the laws. You could hand it out to cops and also assholes that pretend to be the FBI. I mean, these interactions don't seem frequent, but every person you can educate about the sport might help the dispatch phone operators be like, "yeah nah, he's not breaking any laws, we're not sending a unit out there." Idk if it's worth the effort, was just an idea that popped in my head while watching this, since you seem a little nervous in these encounters. Nice video though, the interactions were really wholesome to watch.
That's like, most cops who uphold laws they think might exist but really aren't even sure of. We need police reform ridiculously badly. Not defunded, MORE funds, and testing, and training. We don't need thugs who are ignorant of the law.
@@JelloFluoride The big problem is that we need less laws and regulations. Things change so often even lawyers who have professional schooling rarely can give you an answer on the spot if something is legal or not. They often have to go to the state or federal website and looking things up before giving you an answer.
@@JelloFluoride It impossible for law enforcement to know every law in the books and why should they? They can just look them up when it is needed. They need to know the laws that are relevant for there day to day business. Someone flying a light vehicle is not day to day business. Knowing there are special laws for such vehicles and that you can fly them is more then enough. There is nothing wrong with checking out the specifics on the spot.
Hate to sound like an old guy because I truly want to try this one day but you're a credit to young dudes everywhere!! Kudos to Police for being patient and you for being so good communicating with them and being a credit to the sport. Even though I'm 63, still really active and this is one of the few hobbies/sports I'd like to get into one day, guess we will see, it's either this or another Harley and frankly, I think this looks safer given the bike accidents I see these days.
I have seen much older guys with "trikes" and "quads" that make it a lot easier to take off and land. Fold down ramps out the back of a pickup bed make it easy to load and unload too. It is just a higher initial expense than a back harness mounted paramotor.
Quite honestly, your Harley is a bane to the peace and quiet of neighborhoods unless it is extremely muffled. A paramotor is much more quiet and, well, a hell of a lot more liberating. Can we say, more "manly?" Plus you can wear cool tee shirts instead of silly leathers that look exactly like all the other biker's leathers.
I'd bet that the chances you take on a motorcycle are just about the same as flying a paramotor. However, when you figure in having to deal with cages and the idiots driving them, flying a paramotor becomes orders of magnitudes safer. 😁
That cop on the second encounter had pretty much the exact same questions I would have asked.... Now I know too. One other question I have is what is the weight limit for flying one of these?
@Johannes Terzis i mean youre right of course, but i still think considering the shit cops go up against in jersey itd be better for them if they at least wore something a little more protective
Truthfully they should have taken that guy away for impersonating a federal agent. Granted there would have to be supporting evidence of him saying that, but someone that stupid, I bet the cops ask they would walk right into it and admit it. Lol
@@bryanmiller476 with the ability to get REALLY high up, I see a 1 in 1000 chance in getting shot out of the sky by a civilian who has ground level sirens closing in on him. Just because people shoot each other out of the sky in warzone doesn't mean it's that easy. Have you ever tried to shoot a moving Target? A target moving at 40mph the size of two bodies. Tucker, I did 30 years as a cop. I have seen many flying hang gliders and would always stop and check them out. Finally at age 51 I started glider flying and went on to single engine airplane. I am so interested in power parachute! I want to thank you for your respect you show to law enforcement, they are really truly interested in what you do!! Awesome videos!
They cost around 10k, no training required (although many retailers will offer you training). Even safer and more fun then hang gliding if you ask me. Thanks for your service :)
Thanks for your service for protecting our streets. I appreciate it.
Hey Man, I things are rough out there. I appreciate what you and they boys do, and a lot of people I know do too. I try to thank all officers I come in contact with, and I just wanted to show my appreciation and hope you might pass it along. Keep it up man!

Love how the officer asked if he had or needed a permit. but also admitted he didn't know himself the answer to that.
Yeah paramotors are pretty safe compared to other vehicles.

Any one claiming to be law enforcement should also present their credentials
Dispatch: Someone made a report about 'some punk with his flying machine'.
Cop: *puts on Team Fly Halo shirt* I'm on it.
Thanks Tucker, nice to see kindness and respect. It usually generates mutual kindness and respect.
Just found this fella. It’s nice when common sense prevails
Not causing trouble or damage Nice to see a good interaction with police.
Stay happy from England
Yeah it is nice to have good interactions recorded. The media seems to enjoy only showing the negative ones, which does nothing good for the public but every time something good happens it's mainly only local news stations that cover it.
You know that "FBI Agent" was super pissed watching him give a demo to the cops! Haha classic!
From a cop...
These are the calls we secretly enjoy getting...
It's one of those fun things that gives us a chance to explore an activity that isn't mainstream and learn more about it...
It helps us be able to address people relating to it in the future and 99% of the time the people you're introduced to have a safety/legal mindset...
I always thought of that 😂
Also a cop. These videos are embarrassing. The language, the ignorance, it's sad.
I ride an Electric scooter and it goes pretty fast, and I'd love to interact with LEO's but my worry is that i'd get in trouble! Theres no laws on them so I dont know how they're going to interpret my riding
i got a grammophon, thats also not mainstream xD. can i invite a cop to my house now? lol 😂
I imagine most people that do weird/riskier sports out in public usually have a decent understanding of the laws around it. Especially when those hobbies are expensive, I know I'd hate to lose my expensive toy because I didn't google the law first.
The Police Officer that u meet so calm and informative, not like "Hey im a person in charge, u have to obey me". Nice to see officer like that
Tucker: All the encounters are positive
The thumbnail:
You got you
You got me bruh
Lol it was a quote though...cheeky
Every officer asked educational questions for your safety, the public’s safety, and their own safety. Police departments should use this video as an example of proper public service. Props to everyone in these situations. Respect and manners go a long way. The only real issue was the empty threats from joe fbi impersonator.
I love how they're all just chill about it, and just asking questions, it's so nice
I’m a police officer and I love watching your videos. Keep it up brother!
I like how the second officer was genuinely curious and was asking questions beyond simply figuring out if he was flying legally
You conducted yourself like a gentleman and that makes a big difference. Great job.
Imagine holding a machine gun and shield while flying with this as a police officer
Wouldn't work the weight and recoil from the machine gun and co would make it unstable
sorry i was being stupid when i read this and thought it was an actual idea
Wield only handguns or some other light guns
Like m16???
@@forcebender9081 you also probably wouldn't be able to steer with both your hands used up
*POLICE ASSAULT IN PROGRESS*
Really impressive - like how chilled you are when dealing with the police
Angry people: call cops
Cops: now this is fun
That one cop was totally thinking about getting one
Police officer: soo... how long can you stay up for?
Tucker: 3hrs is my max
😳😂
Every man needs MAXIMUM STAMINA.
And then my arms get tired...
This comment deserves a lot more likes.
That guy was an expert at that psychology training for gathering information. Your awareness of article 103 was a massive help. Good job
Cool cops and positive interactions, they all seemed curious more than anything. You are an excellent ambassador for the sport and aviation in general.
imagine running away and a cop flys toward u with a paramoter
I just found it kinda wholesome where they start chatting and just overall interested and wowed at the sport
I really like that the first two are legitimately curious about the sport and aren't phishing for criminal offenses.
