      @@jimmyvelasco1570 Pig is the best for technical analysis, Tastosis is the best for chemistry, Zombiegrub is pure Fire and Hype, everyone else is very solid but they dont have an edge like the others. Was actually impressed with Tasteless commentary the through this though, expected bit more laziness out of him but he really stepped up since Artosis left GSL.

      @@Jeff-fc7nf LMAO you are obviously biased if you expected laziness from Tasteless. Best casting is always going to be Tastosis in all fronts, regardless of what haters think.

      @Jeff-fc7nf Год назад +6

      @@MrDdz Not a hater at all. Been watching starcraft for ever. Used to tune in everyday to Day9 and watch GomTV on the internet when live. I love Tastosis, but personally I felt he was a bit lazy as a caster. You compare him, as a stand alone, to PIG, and PIGs strategical game knowledge in unmatched by and single caster. Tastless analysis is very low level, and rarely delves into ultra meta game theory with advanced game mechanical analysis. Tastless never even goes there and he doesnt have to, thats not his schtick as a caster, he goofy, funny, lovable and knowledgeable but hes been mostly the same for over a decade. Still talking to his audience like they are watching SC for the very first time. Bro is been like 15 years, 80% of the audience has been watching for 10 years minimum.
      Tastless cast games for Gold league players, Artosis elevated that to Diamond and they have a amazing chemistry. Pig on the other hand cast games for Gold through Grand Masters. He actively plays the game a lot and can bang with the best of them. He could coach most players in the top 20 and advise them on ways to improve mechanically and technically. I am never going to learn anything from watching tastless, but that doesnt take away from his talent and entertainment, but PIG often enhances my thinking about the game in a way no other caster does.
      PIG is like DAY9 with super powers, he is what I think Day9 would have evolved to had he maintained his SC2 content. I want to know how the coach and the big brains are strategizing about the game, how are players attempting to take advantages of players strengths and weaknesses.
      Its a stylistic and entertainment preference, not a bias. One is not better than the other. But Tastless lack of development as a commentator/caster has not really evolved much for 10 years and I think its lazy. He stepped up on his knowledge or either just addressing more in depth strategy strategy in this recent tournament when compared to how he normally commentates in GSL. I know because I watch most GSL matches, I could tell he was give more than he normally does. Never said "theres not much going on" in this tournament or similar statements like he normally does in early games. There is always unlimited things to discuss about a single match even in the first 2 minutes, there is always nuance, there is always history and map balance, common strategies and the meta around them for each match that is specific to each match up. Normally he is being goofy unless there is engagement between the players.

      @@superdahoho there's the best at the moment, then there's the guy who won the tournament. Winning the tournament doesn't make you the best at the moment. You really think he would be the favourite if another world championship was held this weekend? A big reason underdog stories like this happen is because other players don't prepare much against him. How many hours do you think hero and Reynor spent studying his games and play style and figuring out how to counter it, compared to, say, Serral and Maru? Oliveira did a great job taking advantage of this lack of preparation in this tournament, but other players will be more prepared next time. And do I need to remind you how close Oliveira was to not making it out of the group stage? Maru had an overall better map score throughout the tournament, even with his 4-1 loss in the final. I personally would be shocked if Oliveira could repeat anything close to this feat, but hey, I'd love to be proven wrong.

    The engagement at 41:20 that ends game 3. Reynor mistimes his flank. The zerglings from the back are all dead by the time the banelines roll forwards so Oliveira can split his marines back. If he delayed the ling flank he wins this engagement hard. Then he's likely just won the series 3-0.

      Oliveira also spoke about this in his recent stream and surprised that Reynor made such mistake. You can see percisely at 41:24, banelings at the bottom were blocked by one queen, and Reynor had to move that queen to the side thus wasting lots of time

    I didn't believe the player(s) in the finals so now I'm looking at what happened earlier :P Damn, that 2nd game was way closer than it ever should have been. I wonder if it tilted Reynor because hot damn, that was not meant to be such a struggle.
    Backseat gaming the third game, Reynor destroyed Time's eco and had 5 bases. I was expecting him to sacrifice his 3rd by moving his drones to one of the other bases but he decided to engage early instead of waiting for more lings to pop. That said, he had a lot of banes so I can see why he thought he could take the fight but it turned out to be a greedy decision.
    4th game was a surprise. Looks like more Terrans are now capable of playing split map late game TvZ at the highest level. The push on the 4th in the last game was another surprise. Time sniped sooo many banelings for free.
    Quite impressed Time won so handily, given how potent ling counter attacks are on the third and how much Reynor loves that tactic. I wonder how much map knowledge comes into the equation. Zerg is a defensive race and it takes time to understand which places on the map you should take your engagements and contest to prevent your opponent from taking.

Reynor didn't play bad, he was so close to breaking Oliveira so many times in the 4th game, but Oliveira just held on so brilliantly and made very little mistakes under such intense pressure. Most other Terran players would have cracked and lost against Reynor's push. A well deserved win for Oliveira.

      MAP Knowledge definately had a factor in some games, I think alot of people underestimated the new map pool , I saw numerous slip ups in lots of matches, and the grand final winning battle itself was won because maru pathed half of his army the wrong way around the pillars/walls. Reynor also not breaking the rocks meaning his hydra reinforcements were cut off sealed his fate.
      Movement and control is so important, and knowing the pathings and optimal routes is just as critical.

    This was a guy who was seeded so far down the rankings in terms of championship level, on a good day, Hero Maru and Reynor would have probably stomped Time completely, but as he wrote on his chinese stream discussing the matches, he won the Mental Battle, his calmness and patience paid off in spades.
    Alot of the games, check serral ragnarok, there was a running trend from the top players - Impatience. Alot of early timing attacks and attempts to get damage done because they were not mentally set up to deal with certain scenarios, so it led to wonky trades leading up for huge game ending counterattacks. This game is a prime example and probably the best game of the competition, Some how reynor just some how lost his typical composure and was not playing to his usual standard such as floating eco and missing bane speed and messing around with his build orders, needing Kevin to give him some help is sort of re focusing, whatever was going on, the players seemed to put an extraordinary amount of pressure on themselves, Creator and his emotional distress at the end of the Dark game.
    Dunno, maybe it was everyone feeling the strain, the rumblings of the upcoming implosion of the Sc2 tournament funding , but this was a VERY emotionally charged tournament, and Oliviera just stuck to his guns and kept his composure and his calmness as everyone around him was losing theirs and making vastly uncharacteristic mistakes over and over again.
    A true Case study for mental health topics and Esports alike. Fantastic series.

    Usually I have nothing but praise for Reynor, but he got what he deserved in Game 4. I don't know why he didn't transition to infestor / broodlord sooner. I would also have made more static defenses like spine crawlers as well, which could have shut down some of the counter-aggression from Oliveira. Reynor just threw away wave after wave of ling/ultra. I don't have a lot of respect for ultras when your opponent has a mass of ghosts. At least with (burrowed) infestors there's the chance of a money shot no the ghost clump.
    On the other hand, I'm so damned proud of Oliveira, who was on the ropes for a while but hung in there and just calmly dealt with each problem one at a time. That kind of perseverance and determination is what champions are made of!

    I see a man who has learned from his losses VS. a cocky kid who gets his ass handed back to him. When Oliveira lost game #2 he simply smiled and moved on to possibly his last match. Reynor, however, proved he is still a kid by continuously showing all that frustration.

    • @pg8835
      @pg8835 Год назад

      and now look at the state of the game, Oliviera is now back down to rock bottom of the pro scene getting consistently destroyed by people who are not even championship level and hasn't beaten a top pro post Katowice once in a series, getting destroyed by Maru 4-0, reynor 3-0 several times, maxpax, byun solar clem etc and the games were not ever remotely close, whereas Reynor is back to his virtually invincible form, taking out Gamers8 in the highest most competitive form from every single player there. It is called a cinderella run for a reason, oliviera was the best on the day, but every other day since he is just really bad form.

    • @skinnypigiii516
      @skinnypigiii516 Год назад

      @@pg8835 your long paragraph is out of context. He decided not to be so devoted now as he was before, as he said in an interview days after receiving the championship, because he wanted to focus more on other things in life.

      @pg8835 Год назад

      @@skinnypigiii516 well he isn't going to touch the top 20 players in tournaments so he might as well now . It is still a pretty irrefutable fact that Oliveira is a great player but is massively outclassed by almost every other top pro on the circuit now and just had a single good dream run where he played the tournament of his life. I mean Nico Rosberg retired after winning the F1 title for example. You were trying to make out reynor was just a cocky kid who got his butt handed to him. Reynor got flustered, and messed up his late game as he some times tends to do in ultra late game, but he has shown that when he is in championship mode and focused, he is almost as untouchable as serral is. Oliviera has just had only one single strong showing, and has been irrelevant before and afterwards in every competition whereas Reynor consistently finishes up the top.

      emp out range everything infestor does. Only option is to do it like dark, burrow neural and emp the ghosts themselves when the terran is not looking. But even dark rarely pulls that one successfully

      Reynor thinks that because he's a bit faster than other pros he can bludgeon them to death by trying to stress their multi-tasking instead of playing a better strategy. Serral would win from the same position 9 out of 10 times, same with Rogue

      Its a double edge sword, if you get EMP on a cluster of your infestors its basically over. Or if you fungal or counter EMP with neural you also basically win. I think Reynor took Oliveira too lightly and went for the constant ling bane pressure. Most other Terran or even Time in the past would have cracked under such pressure, but some how he's evolved into Oliveira and is playing some of the sharpest and highest level of sc2 in his life. Even Reynor's continuous ling drops in the main, lings runby with burrow and ling bane pressure from the front couldn't crack Oliveira. Gotta give it to him, its a well deserved win. Dude even went on to beat her0 and Maru in convincing fashion, goes to show its not a fluke.
      I hope he continues to play like a mad man and take every chance he sees in the future. If he goes back to his old Time self, playing passive and giving too much respect to his opponents i'd be disappointed.
