What dopamine spike would be appropriate? Especially a lot of things can feel unfulfilling to start and do the action of. Of course, because it’s nugget-sized distilled wisdom that actually has a true basis. Most of those inspirational channels just take vague and philosophical “what ifs and maybes” talks. One is pragmatic and useful, makes you reflect and actually think. Like a satsang is intended to do. The other [channels] just trick your brain into thinking you’re making some sort of progress whilst doing nothing. Easy dopamine fix, easy boredom (discomfort) relieve.
learn to sit in boredom and just be bored, Just pay attention to the way your brain starts creating ways for you to have fun or do something that feels good. Sit and resist for a while and eventually youll relax. Youll start to enjoy boredom and having time to just be free in your mind to create whatever you want
Yeah, to further the analogy: like if you were usually eat junk food, you have to train your brain to sit with the hunger, to eventually be excited to eat healthy foods.
@Let's Read Textbook I eat junk somewhat frequently, and yeah it's like the first place my mind goes when I'm not "doing" something lol generally try to just snack something like an apple to curb it
I'm so proud of myself I saw the title of this video and waited 5 min before watching it. And sat in silence in the taxi stuck in traffic watching the golden rays of sunlight and I didn't even take any photos I just tried to be in the moment and let it go.
Boredom push us into action, and short form content like TikTok and the likes alleviate the boredom and thus letting us procrastinate or at least that's what I've observed from myself. I am aware of it yet I am still struggling with it.
That's true When I get extremely bored I have two options Go to sleep or do something. I remember one time when I was a teenager we actually didn't have internet for like a week I don't remember why I just remember being so bored All I did was sleep because there was nothing else I had no interest in TV I was not a let's go outside person I didn't have money or a job to go just do stuff This was before Uber existed I didn't have a car or was driving and all I had were computer games and all of them were online games. That was the longest week of my life.
Okkk fine. In a roundabout way this reminded me to stop satiating my boredom with 30 second clips like how I've been doing and start my work. Thank you, I hope to find this short again later.
There's a wonderful study where participants where put in a neutral boring empty room and had the option to give themself an electric shock by hitting a button .. most did so out of curiosity/boredom
Jokes on my brain, boredom paralyses me with apathy and I am really stubborn. The more bored I get, the more I sit there doing nothing until my brain gives up.
This is too real. I gotta study but my brain is like a small child: "This is SOOOOO BORING. I want dopamine NOW. I WON'T BE QUIET UNTIL YOU GIVE ME DOPAMINE."
Hence why ADHD is so unbearable as a dopamine deficiency and lack of dopaminergic regulation. Of course they're always trying to get their fix, because they can't absorb the fix as well as neurotypical people can
So if we know our body creates these false signals to stimulate our fight or flight response, we just need a way, a speed bump if you will, to slow us down. If we can slow down and recognize that these things are false, and that we are not in danger of starvation( in the case of hunger ) then we can actively halt the automatic response? Will this work, and if so, will it work for all things? Games, Food, Doom scrolling, and self pleasure to name a few.
For me boredom is my brain not being challenged enough. Hence why I pull out the play money wsop app on my phone and dive deep into thoughts about how I can exploit my opponents betting tendencies. There are levels and mind games to it. Which is also why I'm addicted to playing LoL and Dead by daylight. It's the most mentally stimulating part of my day. I feel proud of myself when I win and grateful for an opportunity to learn something new or remind myself I need to brush up on the fundamentals. Life is fun.

I started telling myself decades ago that boredom is a sign that everything is going smoothly - which makes me smile (dopamine).

how the hell
Can you quickly go over what your daily routine is? I'm VERY curious now!
aren't you just meditating then? in a way
Knowing this has helped me realize my job makes me bored often.

ive experienced adhd episodes but now i think ive cured it.
no medications just meditations and self talk therapy.
As a kid I'd have a tantrum every time I was bored. Now as an adult I don't feel boredom. I don't know why
I haven’t experienced boredom more than a dozen times in the past year, it’s weird cause I remember being bored all the time as a kid.
Boredom is hell on earth
yuuup boredom is one hell of a big ass club to hit us with
You just gotta be a bit of a masochist and learn to live with and enjoy the pain of boredom
Life feels boring when I take mood stabilisers. I want to be depressed again.
So to dumb it down more.
Boring yourself out is actually healthy.
being content with boredom.
our brain and body be playing mind games with us😂
I can feel my head hurt from boredom, it's so fuckin'weird
Also when you do nothing you can fear your emotions

Okay but what if your comfortable being uncomfortable? Then how do you get out of it?
Could that uncomfortable feeling of nicotine withdrawal then draw parallels between boredom? It feels quite similar now that I think about it.
tfw adhd
Less dopamine = more boredom, makes sense
Hunger and thirst isn’t nearly as painful as boredom. Then again it’s probably because I have ADHD.
Boredom is a form of withdrawal 😮
Though, if you're bored while acting, this action is meaningless to you.
Boredem is just the failure to pay attention.
How come I never feel hungry ?
@PlaystationJapanese it's not normal honestly .I've been told it's maybe depression but like I've never felt hungry
@@mutilatedhatred4868 this is interesting cuz one time i was like 8 or 9 i was hungry for the first time ever in my life
